So when I removed the bolts from the main pivot bracket the internal spring violently pivoted the bracket into the position of the top being folded forward. Am I going to have to somehow pivot back to retracted position b4 re installing on the jeep? And if so any suggestions on how to do this?
I love my Trektop Ultra and have tried it in almost every mode. Except removing the rear window, so that is happing this weekend for sure. I also like the bag for the windows, might have to look into that. I didn't know you could get that when I ordered the top.
I am glad this video was useful for you, Brad! I love popping the rear window out in all our soft tops because it makes the air flow better through the cab when the front windows are rolled down.
I had a JKU before my JLU and I found the top for the previous model light years better. By this I mean I liked the simplicity. No Velcro, I could remove the entire thing in 2 minutes flat. The roof piece was able to be removed easily and I loved that about it. When I found out I couldn’t do that with this top I was a little ticked off tbh. Also this top has so many screws, the last one once again was better cause it had 8 hand tightening knobs and it was off. Why make all the extra work?
I just installed my new ultra top and I’m having difficulty with my latches latching at the front of the jeep above the sunvisor. They don’t want to secure properly. How do I fix that?
@@pas84av2 my passenger side rear window came off (luckily held by top hook) at 75 mph - I think you need to have the back window removed to negate the air pressure back there.
How do you recommend storing the main top assembly when not in use? I'd like to hang it on a wall, but not sure where I could attach hooks and not damage any hardware.
We recommend storing the top in a climate controlled area, free from rodents, for example, under a bed in a bedroom where its out of the way and can lay flat.
so it's like a 3 foot wall behind your jeep that you will need to stick your head out of the roof of the jeep to see of build a tower and have a person live there so they can see behind you? Thanks,
On my jk bestop trek top I was able to remove the soft top without tools - and run full topless. Sure the soft top hardware was still in place and I'd need tools to remove those if I wanted to put my hard top back on. Why was this feature removed?
All videos and instructions for removing a Bestop Trektop are for the JLU- what about the JL? The tops are mounted differently and there doesn't seem to be an instructional videos for removing it from a 2-door. Trying to figure out if I have to reverse every step from installing it, or if it can be removed in sections without completely disassembling it.
In the “Safari bikini mode” is the frame supposed to rattle at all? When I hit bumps I can hear the passenger side metal on metal contact time sound. Is there supposed to be a cushion? I need to get the storage bag. Would make it way easier to bring it with me on the trails. Enjoyed watching y’all take it off! Really didn’t think it’d be that easy. Awesome video!
Thanks, Jonathan! I don't think there should be a rattle as you describe in the bikini mode. I'd give CS a ring at 800.845.3567 to see what they can do to help alleviate that.
Bestop I’m loving mine too. I also “sometimes “ have a frame rattle but if I put the top down even for a minute put it back on and it goes away? BTW are you guys offering any deals on the window bags... after all most of are your best customers pre ordering back in April. Even at full price it was well worth it. Making this crazy COVID summer more enjoyable. Thanks Bestop !
Bestop, you guys need to find a way to make the Trektop Ultra available for a 2 door JL. Something like what the Trektop Glide is for the JK. I have that top on my 2 door JK and I would buy a 2 door JL if only you had a full convertible soft top for it. I realize the challenges in making the top for the 2 door JL, but there must be a way...
Thanks for the suggestion, Adam! The Supertop Ultra is almost identical to the Trektop Ultra in it operation and removal so nearly all of the info in this video will apply. The Trektop Ultra was developed from the Supertop Ultra so shares many of the same parts.
Does anyone know how to use the supplied lift Assist Tie-Down Straps - the straps that are connected to each of the lift assist springs. Instructions don't show it, can't find it anywhere....any help appreciated.
Hey Kevin, On this top, the windows do not roll up and stay there if that is what you are asking. If you are asking if you can roll the window when separated from the vehicle for storage, I would not recommend that but it is possible. If you were to roll the window, it would be best to do so in an old bed sheet so that the glass isn't touching glass which would cause scratches.
Yes, it should fit those as well as its our largest window storage bag. Here is a link to it: www.bestop.com/products/window-storage-bag-jeep-2007-2018-wrangler-jk-for-trektop-and-trektop-glide/
@@BestopTeam This link says it will fit the JK, but JL isn't a selectable option. Will this bag hold the windows of my 2018 JL with the Ultra top, fast back/slant back? Slant backs have a taller window.
I'd say it is a similar process for the JK Supertop Ultra. I'd take a look at the install video for the JK Supertop Ultra to familiarize yourself with the different components.
In reference to the Supertop, in a nut shell, removal is a little easier than install because you don't have to take apart the fabric piece? You just fold it down and unscrew those back brackets releasing it from the frame. And then a little extra time to unscrew the door frames? I am thinking the parts look pretty similar to Trektop (after watch installation videos for both).
Hi, Glenn! The windows are 30% tint which is 50-state legal for rear windows. We do not have darker tint options, but you could seek out a local shop to add custom darker vinyl glass.
Hi William! We do not have current plans to produce this top for a 2-door JL, but there is certainly a possibility we will once we are further down the road.
Got some questions. hi, I began to install my new Ultra JL top and when I went to lock the latches the driver side wasn't a problem but the passenger side one I couldn't even get too. I put everything into trying to get it to latch but it was soooooooo hard as if someone was holding one end of the rope on your right side and it wouldnt budge. When pushing the top back into the sun rider position. The left side is easy but the right side passenger doesn’t want to move and bows the attempt. Why is this happening? When top is fully to the spare tire should it be blocking my rear view mirror viewing? As mine does. How high is the top supposed to sit when in sun rider position from top of roll bars? Mine seems to sit high where I can’t get out of the garage
Hi Keith, I am going to recommend taking a few pictures of the issue and then calling our customer service at 800-845-3567 as they are best equipped to diagnose that for you.

What speed should you not exceed with the sunrider feature back (all windows still on)?
If you have the top open in the sun rider position can you drive at highway speeds
