I have a few Vango tunnel tents (including this one) and I've had that flappy side issue, but it's pretty simple to remedy. First peg out one end of the tent, then put in the main hoop pole. Pull out the other end of tent while lifting the whole thing off the ground. This will make sure you get proper tension along the length of the tent, without having the ends of the hoop pole snag on the ground. Then peg in that end. Go to the ends of the main hoop pole and spread them away from eachother, making sure that the bottom edge of the flysheet is taught all the way around, then put in the pegs at the ends of the main pole. If you are having trouble getting the bottom edge of the flysheet taught, then the tension strap which runs under the tent is probably too tight, try slackening it off a little. Put in the short end poles, and peg out all of the guy lines. This should leave you with the perfect pitch.
Maaaaaaan when I got my cairngorm, the RUclips "tutorials" were like rocking horse manure, elusive is not the word, but got it pitched thanks to the brother 🙈, I'm lovin it & hope ur the same 👍👍
Wonder if you pegged out one end, then hold the middle pole and pull that out taut and peg, then finally the other end, so you'll be keeping things taut as you go. Worth trying? Not sure I explained that very well .... :)
after trying this one out i returned it straight away, i thought it was pretty crap. i now own a banshee and no complaints, i'd suggest returning yours while you still can as the banshee 200 has a lower profile if that's what you're after.
Target 3 thank you for adding your experience! What was the reason you didn't like it? Was it a struggle to pitch correctly or was there another reason? I think I will give it a fair chance as I have quite a few different tents depending on expected weather conditions. - we shall see. Been too long to return it now anyway as it doesn't have any obvious defects to claim a refund. I will however do an update video after a few uses (if its worth getting more than 1 use...) Then if need be it can go on eBay cheap for someone to take to a festival maybe! Or to one of the charities that make use of old tents.
That sounds like a good idea, mate. Well mine was returned the following day so i didn't any issues, i think returns are handled differently in Aus (not sure.) Yeah the pitching was just fiddly, pretty much same consensus as you came up with. other than those issues, having two doors and pockets that aren't shaped like triangles. i didn't like how the tension band went through the door and the banshee does have more ventilation. albeit, a little heavier. I've subbed, mate. Thanks for the review. (y)
Great to see you again. You look like you are ready for summer, with your new haircut. This time you are on a camp ground, not wild camping......how odd ha ha I recently finally got me a hooped bivi bag, which I hopefully will try out this weekend ( if time permits ha ha ).... but I guess this bivi bag feels more like a coffin ha ha Your camp ground neighbor seems to have the same style of tent, maybe you could talk to him and talk tents.
Cheers, this was back in May when I thought that week WAS our summer. Incredible temperatures that I didn't expect to see again, how wrong I was though. Made a couple of videos while camping that week but have been so busy I never got round to editing them. Glad that you finally got round to buying one, let's hope you can get out in it soon! I really like them for quick stealth camps. -you choose wisely there. I don't think bivi bags are coffin like, but some one man tents are. Sounds strange I know, possibly because you only get in your bivi bag to sleep but you might spend some time reading or just sitting in a tent.
Max Noerenberg thank you for the advice, will have to try that next time I pitch this. It's a shame, I have never had this problem with a tent before, usually a few attempts to balance out the tension and it's all good.
Gaziano Outdoors not a bad price but time will tell if it is worth it, not impressed by the pitching but am with the internal size. I had seen it drop on the Millets eBay page -somewhere I will never buy from. They list things that are not in stock and might not re-stock. Which was the case with the first two one man tents that I wanted.
Forgot to say, the same goes for the blacks eBay site as they are one and the same. Both claimed to stock 'one last one' of the tent I wanted at a cheaper price than anywhere else. Ordered it, paid for it, waited past the delivery date and received a message telling me that it was not in stock and might not be re-stocked. A few days later it re-appeared on the site, same happened again. It then appeared a third time so I I formed them that it was an error and they didn't change anything. It then appeared on the blacks eBay page for slightly more, so I ordered and paid, only to find out the next day that it was not in stock. The listing has remained to this day... (Blacks, Millets, Millet Sports, JD sports and another company that I can't remember the name of are all part of the same group!)
Marcin S I fiddled with the tension and even tried resetting the pegs, it felt like no matter where I adjusted something would be slack. Do you have the 200? Thanks for watching.
Hard work to watch. Usually when I watch a pitching vid its to get an idea of how a tent I'm thinking of buying pitches and the person in the vid knows how to pitch it. Stopped watching on the 3rd "I've done that wrong"

I bought the Cairngorm 100 which is very similar to this, so you have helped me out a lot. So cheers for the upload.

Hillberg Akto is the same but much better. Costs about 4x as much unfortunately...
I have the exact same problem with my tent. Other than that, it's a great tent
Read the instructions...
You're tent building experience isn't working out too well.
Can i ask How tall are you, I'm 6ft 2 is there enough room for me in length ways cheers
Hi, is this orange material inside also waterproof?

about the floppiness, maybe you could spread the hooped pole a bit more outward. That would certainly tighten the outer tent

Looks ok mate 👍, 63 quid in millets at the moment,

underwaterdick yes I've noticed a lot of them seem to be the same group now, cheers mate 👍
20% off in milliets using code £57.60
Little bit too small tension, or id depend of version. 200 is much more hard after correct assembling.
Marcin S I fiddled with the tension and even tried resetting the pegs, it felt like no matter where I adjusted something would be slack.
Do you have the 200?
Thanks for watching.
Hi this is v200 ruclips.net/video/foY3BzI6WQM/видео.html
Read the instructions FFS.
An obvious comment...
I did, sadly, it makes no difference to the issue.
Not a tent I would personally recommend.
