Fr. Stephen Freeman, you are a radiant light of Christ; I hope to reach your level of patience and wisdom someday. We are in the belly of the beast. Saints pray for us. Lord have mercy on us. Lord have mercy on me, a sinner.
I love this so much. I'm converting from RCC and I could not be more at peace. Rome is burning and I love your analogy about America being the new Rome. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in the RCC as daily it is collapsing. Reach out to your Traditionalist friends and invite them to Divine Liturgy or to just look into Orthodoxy. I guarantee they are going to start leaving in droves. Especially the Eastern Rite Catholics.

Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits So too that I say to my christian brothers and sisters be fruitful and multiply Best regards from a Muslim ( line of ismail )
@@theguyver4934 Speaking of atonement , does your Islamic law not demand the mutilation of the human body as punishment for certain sins? AS Christians we consider this as cruel punishment. The Orthodox faith has a doctrine of "ancestral sin" not "original sin" and which does not refer to the guilt of any sin. We believe in God who is one divine essence and is three divine persons one of whom took the form of a human being so that he could immerse us in his divine nature God is great in his salvation of humankind!
Fr. Stephen always has such a keen analysis. The comparison to how atheists live compared to us (so much is practically the same) is a painful realization.
I believe Every Christian person struggles with this, myself included. Many Christians believe in Salvation, but also think God is somewhere distant... Heaven is always ...far away or not yet God Saves but He's not involved in our lives... Doesn't make sense, does it? Jesus is Always With Us " And lo I am with you always even to the end of the world!" Orthodoxy holds that Christians experience a foretaste, a glimpse of Heaven in the Divine Liturgy.
Perhaps the church needs to reassert and proclaim stronger than ever the God “who is everywhere present and fillest all things” and “in whom we live and move and have our being.” In Reality, there never was, is, or could ever be any separation between God and man (and all that is). The church must temper its dualistic teachings because they only reinforce the false notion of separation and drive people into secular, functional atheistic mindsets.

The sin I can’t get over is causing this lady crush I had in college a large amount of pain in her life because of my unjust anger and for one threw punches at her cause of perceived self importance and OCD over some dude who’s like a 8 with like good material clothes and muscular appearance and that bad boy behavior. who’s she’s not going to have in her life. At least that’s what I’ve observed.
Do you think self-analysis of one’s sins to the priest is actually an expression of a deep need to understand why it is that they’re stuck in sin and desire to change? Perhaps they need more from their priest than just someone to listen to their sins.
Religion in America looks like entertainment to us in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria). Orthodoxy has suffered for centuries from other religions and hostile state structures (Ottoman empire). Focus on patience and suffering 💖
At its best, psychology can help a person be more self aware, which certainly can foster a religious pre-disposition and perhaps lead to a search for God. At its worst, it turns people into selfish monsters who were once neurotic but humble souls.
Or perhaps it’s an attempt by some to find the help that they can’t seem to get within the church. We shouldn’t be so quick to condemn the genuine efforts of other doctors of the soul.

Two types of Americans. Those hungry, even starving, for Orthodoxy. And those who don’t know it yet. Keep hoping. Keep reaching out.

Psychology the modern man's way to try to gain meaning minus God

He was just stating the observable reality. America is the modern day imperial beast .
