I like that it's such an involved process for exporting stems for an engineer (as an engineer, I hope all my clients send me something this clean), but I do kind of yearn for an Ableton style consolidate, (ctrl+J) just so I can line up timing and create smoother takes for comping (I'm a bit of a neat freak, "glue items" doesn't cut it for me) But great video, super concise, I saw it was over 7 minutes, but it didn't feel like a single wasted second, so thank you!
Hey, thanks for your video ! I have a question : can those consolidated tracks then be imported into another editing program as ProTools for example ? :)
I tried that and boy what a pain with all the clicks and dropped audio. (which isn't an issue when I play the session. Maybe it's a version issue on my M1?). What I found works better for me is selecting the tracks I want, right click on far left column, choose "render /freeze tracks", choose mono or stereo option, and it renders an exact match full stem for each track, while muting the original. Stems are located in the same file where your other audio is in that session. Will be called "Stem..."
Awesome.! Thank you so much. You are very helpful! I am now wondering, What if my producer does not have reaper program and he has ProTools will it still work out?
Do you have video for a real newbie that could explain the process of how to bring multiple projects into one file. I am new to Reaper and any Daws. I have created some projects that I wish to use for a voice over demo reel and am unsure of the steps. I am going to want to have them in one demo reel so that I can play one after the other in a continuous progression until the end and have the music beds I chose for each which I ducked/side chain.
Your best bet for that would be learning how to consolidate your files in whichever DAWs you use. Once they're consolidated then you can import the files in to any other DAW and reassemble your tracks there. Good luck!
Hi, what happens to applied effects? Are they on the consolidated tracks? Should I just turn them off in the project? (Select all tracks + unselect FX)?
The effects and plugins on your tracks are NOT printed down to the consolidated tracks. Most mix engineers do not want the tracks you send to have effects on them because that makes it more difficult for the mix engineer to do their job. The exception to this is effects that are crucial to the sound f the song such as amp sims on a DI (though I would suggest sending the unprocessed DI track as well as the processed amp sim track in that case). If you want to learn how to print effects to your consolidated tracks, check out my video 3 Tips For Saving CPU Power In Reaper
Hello Tonebone, I'm a podcaster and I'm trying to edit my audio with splitting so I tried to glue my audio based on tutorials I watched here on youtube but for some reason my audio changes when it is glued. What am I doing wrong when all I'm trying to do is edit some errors and combined the splits as one whole track. I hope that you can help. Thanks
If you’ve just consolidated your track, a quick ctrl+z (undo) will bring them back to how they were before. Otherwise your best bet is to select the box that saves your consolidated project under a different name than your un-consolidated project so you can return to the unconsolidated state. If it’s too late for that you could try looking in your project folder for an auto saved backup of the session file from before you consolidated the files. Look for the suffix .bak after the project name and check the date created to find one from before the consolidation. Hope that helps!
You just saved me so much time with a client of mine who uses reaper 🤝
You have a very pleasant, no-bullshit way of explaining. Excellent.
Thank you!
Thanks bud, perfectly explained what I was searching for.
Thanks. You explain it very well
Thank you!
Great and informative video. EXACTLY what I was looking for and the step by step was spot on! Thank you!
Excellent video, thanks for the info
Great tutorial! Just the information I needed to complete my project today. Very concise and easy to follow instructions. Thank you!
Good to hear! Thanks for watching!

Thanks man, all those options were confusing me!
Is this the same as rendering to stems?
Awesome.! Thank you so much.

If you are consolidating these tracks FROM reaper with the intent of importing them TO pro tools (or any other DAW) this process will work for you!
Tonebone Marone thank you very much, sir! Rock on 🤘🎶🔥
Hi Tony do you give mixing lessons?

@@tonebonemarone3089 Perhaps I just could have looked in the manual, but thanks for explaining.
Any time!

Hey is there away to unconsolidate tracks?
