Unless your aim is betrayed by the shitty pistol cartridges of the 19th century. Remember in "Unforgiven" when Munny has a misfire with his second round in the shotgun? A common occurrence which can be caused by paper shotgun shells (It happened to me on my 2nd deer hunt in 1967). Brass cartridges could have poor primers, inefficient or faulty gunpowder, and brass that's too soft to create proper compression for max firepower.

Unless you're standing on a range with a bunch of other, like-minded friends, the only thing that flashy tricks and showing off gets you is a challenge by someone who thinks they have something to prove, rather than someone with the confidence to know he has nothing to prove and they are thd most dangerous type. This advice applies across the board and not just to gunfights because, it's about human nature.
They may not be "the best" but, they usually don't know what they don't know and that makes them more aggressive and less predictable and therefore, someone to avoid in the first place. How do you avoid the person?? Don't attract them to you in the first place.

He is correct...I've been in 4 gun battles...I consider myself lucky because I remained calm...I survived...I will add that I am fairly accurate...and do not get rattled under fire...most people will straight up get rattled when someone is trying to kill them..I do not..this is why I consider myself lucky...shooting targets is completely different from someone shooting at you...I am not an officer of the law...or a soldier... I am an average man that just happened to be caught up in extreme situations over the years . ... Netflix..give me a call. 😏

I don't own any guns anymore. When I was young I was a damn good shot with a rifle or a shotgun. Never shot a pistol enough to get good with one. And most times I couldn't hit with a pistol but the targets were much smaller than a man. Would I get rattled under fire? Probably, but not enough that I couldn't return accurate fire. But, like I said to begin with, I don't own any guns anymore.
But anyone getting a gun for home defense that isn't experienced at shooting, imho, they should get a 12 guage semi auto shotgun(shortest barrel you can find) with 00 buck shot 3" magnum shells. It puts A LOT of lead in the air with each pull of the trigger. You shoot an intruder & chances are, he ain't gonna make it. Much easier to aim & hit with a shotgun. Very easy to aim & miss with a pistol.

So, in many ways, when you watched Wayne on the screen during his long and illustrious career in Hollywood, you were actually watching the personality and mannerisms of Wyatt Earp. I'd call that realism.

Smooth is fast, Accuracy kills. Didn't matter if it was with a Pistol, Rifle or even a Shotgun. Close up or at long distance. And today in a self defense situation, Learning how to carry your pistol on your person so its comfortable. And being able to deploy your firearm and to be accurate with the first shots means a lot. Especially when your assailant (s) probably have the drop on you from the start. And learing when to be a good witness rather than a hero is another thing. If someone isn't making threats and acting as if they aren't going to start popping ppl. And just want the $$$ or what ever they are there for. A accurate witness is worth a lot. Let a SWAT team thats heavily armed with body armor and shields take him or her down. They'll have a FARE better Tactical Advantage then I will with my 9mm Glock. But if there's shots fired, I'm not running away and taking a chance of getting shot in the back. Ill face what could be the end of me and be sending rounds at this person as fast and accurately as I can from behind what ever cover I can find.

A lot of people think that gun fights are like those in the movies. Go for minutes at a time while two sides shoot from behind cover. In real life most are over within 5 seconds because both sides run, and no one gets hit because they care about getting quick shots rather then accurate ones.
