Bobbins have to dissolve like an aspirin pill when they come in contact with water, which is how the device activates itself. The deteriorate over time, especially in humid environments.

@@bassresource Hi I have a bobbin that is 8 yrs old but it looks brand new, do you think it's still good as it doesn't show any deterioration?
So every time it activates,you gotta spend $30-40 to re arm ??? Thats crazy money ..
