    • Disney Fires Bob Chape...
    Viewer Question:
    Kyle Robinson - HEAR YE, HEAR YE John and crew!!!! As of this message, I came across the deadline report that PAPA BOB IGER IS BACK BABY!!!! Papa Iger is reinstated as CEO effective immediately after Bob Chapek re-upped his contract. This is all spectacular news! My question is when will we see the effects of the change in leadership with the movies, shows, streaming, and the parks? What do you think will be the priorities he has set based off his previous works? Thanks and I got my pen and paper for the Campea classroom!

    Chapek also said recently that people don't want to see animation anymore and that's why they're releasing live action versions...yikes. I won't cry at all about Chapek losing his job. He's a centi-millionaire, he'll be fine. What he did to the Disney Parks wasn't good at all. The stock price of Disney tanking was the final straw for the board since they're only about money.
    Prediction: Iger will not be there for only two years. He will pull a Steve Jobs and move from interim CEO to full-time CEO again.

I don't like the way she has become the figurehead to blame for anything Star Wars fans don't like and gets none of the credit for things that were good or great, she has an incredible track record. Iger admitted his mistake was his hunger/impatience for Star Wars movies to be made and I agree with that, they rushed them and it didn't work well.

    You don't want to celebrate someone losing their job, but your staff is wearing part hats.
    It's easy for creatives to have free reign when there is either a surplus of cash and cheap debt coming in. The economy changed and thus strategy for the entity had to change as well. Disney+ is Iger's baby and it cut into a lot of secondary and tertiary markets(third-party streaming and syndication on linear TV). The FOX acquisition put them in a ton of debt. That was Iger as well. Iger is great for the press, but horrible for the balance sheet. Remember, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar were established brands before being acquired. The Florida situation was due to people Iger put in place. Chapek wanted to remain neutral but supportive of the employees, as it pertains to the Florida Parental Rights Bill.
    When there is new management, re-organization is par for the course. When Chapek took over, Disney needed someone to clean up the books that Iger messed up with excessive spending.

    It seems Kevin Feige had more control before Bob took over. Look at David Sasloff cancelling Batgirl because he thought it was not good. Did Bob watch Thor Love and Thunder and thought it was good enough quality to release? No way Kevin Feige would release that without reshoots

    • @chem.4919
      @chem.4919 Год назад +3

      Honestly, I feel that Feige is giving too much creative control to the directors and isn't willing to reel them in when their ideas start to go off the rails. This may have been in response to the notion that MCU movies are formulaic or Feige is just spreading himself too thin.

      @@zltpsm Chapek did introduce a new strata of reporting and administrative oversight that Kevin Feige has all but directly complained about. I'm assuming you meant that Chapek never weighed in on the creative choices and the interconnectedness of the MC, it's projects, it's roadmaps, etc... And I believe that's correct. I don't think Chapek was ever interested in pushing or changing the things that Feige did as head of the MCU. But then again, I don't think outgoing CEO Igor did much or any of that either (after just overseeing the mergers and integrations of new companies).
      I think the incoming Bob's negative impact came to the MCU (and to other franchises) not from Chapek driving in Feige's lane so much as it came from Feige now having to present project reports, budgets, proposals, salaries, timelines, etc, to some member of Chapek's new middle layer of bureaucrats. It was constraining, and it probably felt insulting to the guy who had literally just become the most successful movie producer in history (when ENDGAME overtook AVATAR''s net gross) all without the scolding oversight of one of the new CEO's pencil pushing accounting types. And that's bad enough, right? :)

  • @Zatheris76
    @Zatheris76 Год назад +3

    I've been saying this for years now and it is the best solution to these problems to make streaming both profitable and subscriptions and beyond.
    Every show Marvel Star wars would apply to game of thrones Lord of the Rings Rings of Power If they were to have a 10 episode series with a 90 minute to 2 hour finale that they put in movie theaters for its first month and then it would fall back to streaming.
    This would give you quality content as well as that millions In the movie theater.
    I guarantee you if mandalorian ran 10 episodes and then you put that final episode but made it longer and like a movie that would have probably made 3 to 500 million for the studio plus all the subscriptions.
    They need to stagger streaming content You could have and doesn't have to all be like Star wars or Marvel This could be things like the mighty ducks or whatever but if they had like eight shows that they had come out and aired them bi-weekly each with 10 episodes That would give you 20 weeks of content and just alternate them week one for the shows play week two for the other shows play then next week back and the next week after that so every month you would get two of all those shows This would allow you to stretch your content over twice the amount of of time.
    Now this means shows that you want to eventually make a movie out of which won't be everything but could be almost everything if it has a good enough bass if the show is already made and your marketing it through mostly Disney Plus and then some general normal marketing you would do for a movie almost every season finale could be made into a least a 90 minute movie That would generate big bucks.
    This means you need to make all your episodes good quality and the season finale obviously near movie quality.
    But whether it was falcon in the Winter soldier, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, mandalorian, bubba Fett or any of those other Disney shows they could have had a 90 minute finale that would have generated anywhere from 2 to 500 million in the movie theater as well as 20 weeks in the streaming market meaning if you've got I don't know 2 million people paying $10 a month that's $20 million a month times those 10 episodes stretched bi-weekly is 20 weeks (5 months) That's $100 million in streaming revenue off of only 2 million people plus If at least four of your shows are movie quality where they can have a season finale you might make at least $300 million per which is another 1.2 billion up to as much as 2 billion that you could make in the 6 months off of 2 million people with only eight shows four of which could have a season finale in the movie theater.
    Now of course if you got 60 to 70 million subscribers You're now generating vastly more but just the movie end of it for four shows going to the theater could make you 1 to 2 billion dollars every 6 months which would mean roughly $4 billion dollars a year in shows you're already going to make so wouldn't cost you hardly anything more other than marketing could obviously you'd have to market these theories finales and these shows a little bit more if you want to get them movie numbers or at least a fraction of those.
    But this would apply to any studio stranger things could have done it This could save Netflix this could save Hulu this could save Disney Plus and in the other stream platform because it's only so many houses you can put streaming into You got to have a big payoff and let you have advertisements which they don't then you need another avenue and this is that avenue.
