Checking out a fairly new game called Ships At Sea. It released in early access this year and seems to be full of potential as a ship simulator game!

Also, the smaller the craft the better survival chance it has. Waves/swell that are longer than the craft tend to lift it up and over. Bigger craft get bent and Nature hates thing that resist and tends to undo everything.
