    It took a lot of courage, strength to do what Martin Mc Guinness and Ian Paisley did. Living proof that if we will sharpen our whits and soften our hearts, we can put away our differences and coexist peacefully.

    Was never a fan of Martin McGuiness but Have grown to respect him for what he did to bring peace and he and Paisley did become friends even if it was looked on with scorn or even thought to be dubious at least. I hate the way these reporters bring people on and then repeatedly cut them off while talking to them

      Take it from an Englishman, he was a gentleman, a soldier, and a true statesman worthy of everyone's praise. Martin was all around, a hero of both these islands.

    Matt Frei is a godawful interviewer. So frickin rude, asking questions and rushing him on, especially since this is about a poignant subject.

    There are few things more irritating than listening to a reporter interrupt their interviewee and cut him short when he doesn't have the time to listen to his answer. It's discourteous in the extreme and he shouldn't ask the question in the first place if he hasn't got time to listen to the answer.

    I'm from Dublin and I have worked with Protestant lads for the last 25 years and I couldn't give a bollox once they were good people,....... most of them are ...I have family from the North and I go up regularly for my kids medicine and I grab some gargle as well..Long my it last!I would rather peace than to claim back the 6 County's....But that's just me!

    History, traditionally issues it's own statement on historical situations and personalities. Such statements are based principally on fact, but are coloured by "political management". Will the protagonists of the "Northern Ireland War" be massaged and manipulated by political entities , indeed they will, as history has proven worldwide over the centuries. What of McGuinness and Paisley, did their actions contribute to loss of life? This is possible. Did their combined actions secure peace ? Yes.

    I wonder whether this position of ''joint first minster'' that he has sort of created in his own head would still be available were SF to win the most seats in a assembly election in the future?

      Joseph Dwyer Thanks , not sure I am happy or unhappy- just a little slow, I thought he had dreamed it up to minimise the fact they were still second but the true reason was to get into first place by removing a incentive for UU voters to vote for the religious nut jobs of the DUP to stop SF claimimg the job!

    • @joedwyer5025

      In truth the designation is completely misleading - as it is a co-equal position - there's nothing the FM can do without dFM agreement - its a joint office

    • @westbrit4714
      @westbrit4714 10 лет назад

      Joseph Dwyer I am not disputing, you seem to know more then me about this- so why was that not spelt out in the GF agreement?

    • @joedwyer5025
      @joedwyer5025  10 лет назад

      West Brit Its just one of those things which the Unionist parties clung to in negotiations - its often said the SDLP allowed it to go ahead - had SF been the largest Nationalist party at that time it probably would have been resisted more.

    What an ignorant presenter, more interested in what England ‘hangs onto’ than the reflections of a season sed politician looking to pay tribute to an ex-colleague and one-time foe, who’d passed. Disgustingly normal from this guy, Jo Coburn and the likes, sadly.

    McGuiness and Ian Brady in the same calendar year. Maybe there is a God.
