She is truly an artist of many talents. I first saw her at a Bluegrass Festival with The Carolina Chocolate Drops. Since then she has branched out musically and she is exquisite. Most people don't realize she is classically trained. With her voice she can sing anything.
I wonder if Rhiannon Giddens knows, ever met, ever worked with, another great musician and conductor passionate about intercultural dialogue through music, Jordi Savall ? Thank you for all your music !
I own and play a five string viola, not an octave lower just with a low "C" string that adds sooo much extra to the sound of a viola. It's a Scott Cao 15.5", very playable with all that lower C-G-D sound. Im not pushing Scott Cao's violas as there are other makers, but I am pushing the idea of extra sound with that lower string.
