It’s a guilty pleasure for me because I watched it a lot in my childhood, that now even today I don’t really hate it. It’s an awful film but it’s so awful it’s good to me.

Honestly, Sharp Talk as a prequel is just perfect to showcase why Shark Tale is such an outstanding movie and why it has such great lore and intricate writing. One of the biggest issues tackled in this film is that of human duality, which we can see in Oscar who has his roots as a humble immigrant worker at a whalewash. He's poor, but has many friends that care for him and truly appreciate him. He's also highly ambitious and the audience can see that he has the potential for greatness. However, as the movie goes on, we see his schemes to get rich (which start off as small plans to get enough money to get out of the ghetto he grew up in) turn into more intricate and vicious manipulation of both the current political system, the mafia that grips the people in town and the desperate people themselves. With this new Oscar being so different from the one we are introduced to at the beginning of the movie we are lead to believe that this isn't Oscar, but it's unclear if this is the Oscar we know, or if some outside force is at play. Soon enough it is revealed that all of these actions were due to Matt Damon, an alter-ego of Oscar's that takes all of Oscar's initial character flaws and magnifies them, making him a terrifying, albeit interesting villain (this is very subtly foreshadowed at the 10:12 mark). Matt Damon would later gain independence from Oscar in Shark Tale, but even to this day, the subtle characterization and Damon's brilliantly written speeches in both movies makes me question whether Damon really is a separate entity from Oscar, or if he IS Oscar himself, just Oscar's dark side which Oscar doesn't wish to acknowledge. And finally there's the climax of the movie and it's a thrilling, bone-chilling one too. Matt Damon has gained complete control over both Oscar and (posing as the Shark Slayer) the government's arsenal of space age weaponry. And in a swift move he eliminates what he believes to be the global population of sharks except for Lenny's father who he imprisoned and taunts mercilessly. He also, becomes Governor of the ocean and forces a policy that does not allow anyone to eat lunch in this town again. He does this to reinforce his iron fist on the populace and to keep them undernourished so that they cannot rebel against his tyrannical rule. However, Lenny managed to escape and in a heartbreaking scene, he says goodbye to his father and has to flee under the cover of darkness through fields full of his brethrens lifeless bodies, to both find himself and find the real Oscar before it's too late. It's quite possibly the closest thing to a flawless prequel that there is, (even up there with the likes Star Wars II: Revenge of the Sand and Toppolino) and I'll keep coming to it again and again. I literally cannot comprehend how you're able to cram so many references and jokes into every second of your YTPs. They're just so fucking _full of content_ .
The novel was better. It told us about more sharks dying than just the ones mentioned here and had an entire chapter about Lenny on the run from the Anti Shark Seekndestroy Force, which was really sad. However, I will say this was good as well.
while I do agree that the novel was better, there are some things that I’m glad they cut out, like that entire annoying and forced love story between the jellyfish. But some things I wished they didn’t cut, for example, Sebastian’s arch about weather he should obey his country or his mentor
I only wish I was more familiar with the original so I could know just how much better this is than that was. Not enough to actually watch it, but still.

I wasn't expecting such a brilliant plot twist in shark tale, oscar betraying his friends, letting all that power get to his head and overthrowing the sharks. This movie is simply excellent, I would say that this movie deserves an Oscar but it all ready has one. Disney wishes they could make such an amazing film where the protagonist betrays everyone and joins the dark side.
I have never seen so many referances, from so many movies, YT vids, videogames, and time periods, so brilliantly crammed into 1 video! Everything from Goodfellas to Spongebob to Scooby Doo to Star Wars to Jimmy Neutron to Smash Mouth! Good GOD!
Returning to this classic poop years later because this is the masterpiece that introduced me to "Good for You" and I'm still bitter that the DEH movie cut it.
The dinner scene, execution montage and the epilogue were the best parts. They all came together to form a truly epic final act, I also found Samuel L Jacksons performance to be very emotional and gripping. Props to you my friend 101% fresh.
Can we talk about how good the ‘good for you’ sequence is, he’s essentially rewritten the original shark tale story into oscars descent into villainy and the song “good for you” is representative of how he’s now gone with no way back. This is a shark take ytp why is it so well thought out.

I wasn't expecting such a brilliant plot twist in shark tale, oscar betraying his friends, letting all that power get to his head and overthrowing the sharks. This movie is simply excellent, I would say that this movie deserves an Oscar but it all ready has one. Disney wishes they could make such an amazing film where the protagonist betrays everyone and joins the dark side.
I have never seen so many referances, from so many movies, YT vids, videogames, and time periods, so brilliantly crammed into 1 video!

The dinner scene, execution montage and the epilogue were the best parts. They all came together to form a truly epic final act, I also found Samuel L Jacksons performance to be very emotional and gripping. Props to you my friend 101% fresh.

Can we talk about how good the ‘good for you’ sequence is, he’s essentially rewritten the original shark tale story into oscars descent into villainy and the song “good for you” is representative of how he’s now gone with no way back. This is a shark take ytp why is it so well thought out.
