Baba Yetu should be the intro for every Civ game. It's become a classic and could have that same feel as movie intros like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc. When you hear the music, you instantly know what movie it is. Or like how Halo has a distinct intro. Same idea for Civ.
It's so weird seeing the city in RL as an Assassin's Creed fan for the first time and you only be like: "climbed up there, jumped from there, ran away from guards here..." Same with Venice.
It's the Lord's Prayer in Swahili that this is based from. Beautiful This is the version sung by Christopher Tin himself with the Full Angel City Chorale ruclips.net/video/HJYWtzivvWo/видео.html You can see the words translated.
It's not all about peace and love. The way I see it is even with our capacity for evil, we are still an amazing species capable of wonderful things. I think both videos for this song show this dual nature.
James Ingram Even though it's based on the Swahili version of the Lord's prayer there have been more wars fought and started over religion than anything. I kind of see the fighting scenes in context.
+Allen Prunty land has pretty large amount of wars been fougth over as well, take denmark an sweden who holds the world record for most wars fougth between two nations in history all over a few pataches of land
I think the point is that despite the brutality of life for the human species, we still grow through the ages. Albeit with many setbacks along the way. The use of a Christian prayer is fully appropriate here: through the death of the perfect saviour comes the resurrection and salvation of mankind. At least, I think that's what they were going for with the video.
Just my two cents. Around 1:40, right when the climax of the music occurs again, I felt it would've been better to have the scene in the vanilla intro where they are sailing the rough seas, and there's the one man holding onto the front of the boat as it sails. Also, the fact that some of the scenes were sped up bugged me, like the WW1 scene. Other then that, I loved it. Amazing job.
Today I decided to make a Baba Yetu music video using the footage from civ 5's cinematic intros just as you did, only to find out right afterwards that you had made one very similar to that of my own. While we did both take content from other people and have no originality claims in the eyes of common decency, because of the similarities between these videos, I wanted to, out of common decency, green-light my video with you. You can find it on my channel or here: ruclips.net/video/uvZoJYYJetM/видео.html
The Brave New World DLC Intro ;) There are different Intros for the main Game an the two big DLCS (Gods&Kings, Brave New World) This is a mix of all intros

You ever seen a pack of wild dogs take down their prey? They always enter the anus and ripped it apart from the inside while it’s still alive

Epic music for an epic game!
Anyway the highest building in Florence is Santa Maria del Fiore, so Lorenzo couldn't look out from that balcony :D

Baba Yetu- the only piece of music from a video game to ever receive a Grammy
Not anymore. 8 Bit Big Band's remix of Meta Knight's Revenge won a Grammy.
Fight scenes playing during Baba Yetu are so out of context... lol. Don't get me wrong, the video is great, but it completely contradicts the music.
Even in the official Baba Yetu video, there're fighting scenes.
