Join me on this short tour of an old very popular Roman Catholic Church called "St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica" located downtown London, Ontario. This is an active church with amazing architecture which I wanted to capture on video. People drive from all over to see it just for that purpose. It was built between 1880 and 1885 with 13th Century Gothic Revival style architecture. The frist stained glass windows were added in 1889.
The interior design of the parish was completed in 1926 along with the addition of the pipe organ.
Pope John XXIII raised the status of the church in 1961 to a Basilica.
Renovations were added in 1968 which included replacing the existing alter and communion bars with a new marble altar and adding the cathedra in behind the altar which doubled the size of the sanctuary.
Really appreciate the camera work and the research that went into this. I always look forward to your videos because you have so much more to say than just "this looks cool".
Thank you very much! I do put a lot of work and research into my videos and so your thoughtful comment is also appreciated!

Beautiful stain glass windows.

Thank you!
Very impressive architecture and you have captured the atmosphere. All faiths have amazing buildings ..A beautiful Advent video as well ...Thanks so much and like 61🙂
Many thanks!
I went to a Catholic School in Philadelphia. The church, for a small neighborhood church, was magnificent. The marble, the organ, the altars and railings. It was demolished a few years ago after the Catholics sold it and the people who purchased it could not afford the upkeep. The slates on the roof were falling off, which were very dangerous especially if they struck someone. This is another beautiful church. Thank you for the tour Tiki.😊
Lovely! Pam please do a tour of the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph. It's a stunning building and part of it is boarded up. I would love to know more about it.
I will see what I can do. :)
Background music was a nice touch. Very fitting.
Thanks for the tour of this beautiful church.
Thanks for joining me!

Great job, Darlin'. I just finished supper...so this made a good, low calorie dessert🙃. Every now and then, a lack of decay is refreshing. Thanks for sharing the video and the history, Pam.

When I lived in Western New York back in the 1960's. I went to a small Catholic Church. The name was the Good Shepherd. It was red brick outside. The inside it had different statues of Jesus, Holy Mother of God and Joseph. Stain glass and a painted scenes over the altar. On the inside of the dome. I always will remember the church.

That is an AMAZING church! I Don’t think I’ve seen many that are that big and beautiful!
It truly is!
nice tour, I have not been in church for long time
Thank you!
Nice 🤘
This is almost identical to the Catholic Church in Michigan that I attended as a child.
I knew the next video was going to be a church 👍
I’ve been trying to tour the Old St. Thomas Church as well, but it’s closed every time I stop by so I think they may be closed for the season. I’ll keep trying in the meantime.

Was pretty sure I commented on this video but it must’ve been deleted somehow. I’m not religious as an adult but I was raised in a Protestant church but I have always thought Catholic Churches were lovely. Only been in one once
Hmmm. That’s odd. I wouldn’t have deleted it. If anything, I appreciate them. I only delete hate speech from trolls.
typical church in europe
Yes, beautiful buildings there.
