I had an '01 GMC that the oil pressure would drop to zero at idle when cold, fine after warmup.
Turned out to be the two O-rings in the pan gasket that carry the oil from the block to the filter and return. They were cracked and passed oil from one to the other.
Replaced O-ring and pan gasket, everything still fine when I sold the truck at 395K miles.
Sort of immaterial, since you're going to replace the pan gasket anyway (right?), but it's still something to look for.

The Chevrolet LS oil pumps won't like to pump dirty oil it causes excessive wear on the aluminum housing of the pump, I had to change the oil pumps on a fleet of buses I was working on due to lack of oil changes. I used to high volume low pressure m55 oil pumps I don't have to drop the oil pan tricky getting a bolt in for the pickup.

Melling 10355HV- high volume will increase the hot idle psi by about 5psi and the pressure springs could increase running pressure past 40 psi till the relief valve in the pan opens up. Highly recommend the hv pumps for higher mileage motors. If plugging up the releif valve with a m14x1.50 oil plug, use a standard pressure spring to not over pressure the system when running at hwy speed as it will trigger a code for high pressure.
Generally the cam bearings open up more through wear reducing oil pressure. Replacing the o ring helps and clean the oil pressure sensor screen if applicable too. Fyi, the new cam bearings in the market are slightly wider for better support of the cam at .775". Replace cam bearings with updated parts.

Have a 6.0 LQ4 , noticed low oil pressure coming on slow, went from 60 40 20 then went to 10 then 5 . Change oring , same , then changed pump went with 295HV standard psi. Definitely have a cam bearing issue. Fire's up to 20 ,then drops to 10 idke , when i accelerate goes up to about 30, never gets any higher, freeway drive stays at 30 then as you slow down to a complete stop goes badk down to 10 . No issues so far runs like a top, milage is about 165000.

Apparently you can add 3 qts of oil to your motor jack up the back of the truck 2 foot and if your oil pressure comes back then you know it’s that stupid oil ring. I’ll be doing this test tomorrow on my 2012. Do you think that a damaged/old oil pump would also effect the AFM/DOD lifters???? Causing them to collapse I mean those things are temperamental. I have a 130k on my truck no issues yet but I don’t want any if I can avoid it

Have you heard of the oil pump, making a knocking noise or almost sounding like a lifter noise, And it
Sometimes comes and goes? I have a 06 Silverado 2500HD w/t with the 6.0 The truck never had an issue until I did a oil change and put the Lucas high mileage engine oil stabilizer in it the very next I went out and started it to let it warm up before work and I heard it from inside the house it was sounding like the lifters were just hammering and it had like no oil pressure so I flushed that oil out multiple times but it never fix the problem. It’s been years now and that tick is still there from underneath the hood it sounds like it’s the injectors but I doubt i because the oil pressure is low and goes up to maybe 3040 when you’re hard on the gas. It’s still runs just fine. Smooth as ever but the tick drive me insane sounds like my motors going to blow. I did the O-ring twice it’s good that’s not a problem I just don’t see how that could happen overnight but then again, we are things have happened. A local fleet mechanic is telling me it’s the oil pump making all the noise and he changes them out like a few a month on their fleet. It’s just weird when you’re getting on the gas it almost sounds like a cat go through a 64 impala with round, cut exhaust tips and straight pipes.

I have a 2007 Tahoe 5.3 engine. The valve lifter for one room got stucked I replaced it and all was fine. I drove the car for some time and that same room the valve lifter got stock again but before that I noticed low oil pressure. Immediately I noticed the low oil pressure I pulled over the car check to see if there was a physical abnormality of which it was not. Drove the car for about 5 miles the the low oil pressure signal came again. Please what could be the possible cause of this valve lifter being stock?

OH NO NO NO. Do not for a second believe the pump 'self centres' by rotating the crank, the outer rotor floats and the crankshaft does nothing to centre it inside the housing. Using this method will most likely end up with another pump failure due to the gears not being centred and a lack of lubrication all the way around the outer rotor and its aluminium housing. The only way to centre these and the OEM Internal Gear Pumps with their oversized mounting holes (no locating dowels) is the remove the cover and use shims on opposing sides of the outer rotor.

10355HV is an ever higher volume over the M355 and the 10355. About 42-45% more than stock. It has even thicker pump rotors than the M355 and 10355, which are about 33% over stock.
