Making a bow isn’t as hard as one would think, lots of stuff that’s flexible enough to make one.
It’s the arrow that isn’t so easy to make fly straight. Takes practice to straighten shafts and fletch a vain with a proper twist.

That Hadzabe bow w the feathers on it is amazing too. I think it the west we tend to infantilize these people and it is a crime. You dont see obesity and heroin addicts in this tribe like we have in the west. I know their lifespan tends to better shorter but I would argue for those years they live a healthier more sustainable life. I love how they use the materials around them for their housing and don't overharvest their natural resources. Us in the west would have taken ownership of those resources and sold them until nothing is left.

I remember seeing a picture of other arrows made in africa, and some of them look even more elaborate and deadly than that. A lot of it is just cosmetic, and some of it is going to make your arrow less effective, but they look pretty awesome nonetheless.

Interesting arrows ..the "poison " is likely plant resin used to make a sort of shock absorbing mount for those quite vicious arrow heads

Making Bow and Arrow was basic knowledge in survival skills like in Papua where most local people use bow and arrow for hunting.
Why not heavier bows? Longer draw lengths?
Just a guess here. 1) Poison on the arrow means that penetrating deep with broad heads is not required since blood loss is not whats taking down the prey. 2) The bows are not laminated. 3) its possible they are hunting in in forest or dense scrub where long range shooting inst possible or required. 3) Even when the English war bow was at its heaviest, hunters still used much lighter bows One assumes because accuracy is more important and the extra power is simply not required. 4) I also wondered about the draw length because in the video the arrows were much longer than required for the draw length they were using.
I completely understand WHY arrow at medieval is expensive.
Is this for a war bow or hunting bow? Because the need for a barbed steel head feels a bit overkill for hunting, especially being poisoned too. A stone non barbed broadhead will work just as well, even some types of hard wood can make good arrow heads.

You can't use a blunt object to kill an animal you are going to eat,you might get sick,blood should come out hence the sharp object

Also, you won't get sick from stone, we even use different types of stone for cooking with, there's nothing wrong with stone.

Looks like a sort of resin glue. This type of arrow head doesn't require poison to kill. Poisoned arrow head are usually smaller and less complicated.
