  • In this video I discuss the differences between the Traditional BJJ Strategy and my Master Plan Strategy. I discuss the advantages and the changes in mindset while choosing each route.
The Traditional BJJ Strategy is as followed. Bypass the legs to Side Mount, Side Mount we transition to the Mount, we establish the Mount Top Position and from Mount Top the opponent turns their back. The finish comes from the Back Mount Position preferably with a trapped arm.
The Master Plan Strategy states that we Bypass the Legs (Guard Bottom Position) to Side Mount Top. Side Mount Top Starts the Meat Grinder fatiguing mechanism which forces the turn to Turtle. During the transition we are looking to trap the opponent's arm rather than insert the hooks. I use the Chest to Back Position to achieve a common goal, to trap the arm and attack the neck. The legs are not solely used to control the body as hooks, but rather they are a tool used to trap an opponent's arm. Once the opponent turns their back we are looking to get to an Optimized Finishing Position.
