I was a freshman in high school & would watch the games with my dad every Sunday. 1984 is the year the Bears games became “can’t miss TV” in my little hometown in Illinois.
Great channel … brings back amazing memories.

Loved the '84 Bears D. Watch Todd Bell plant the pulling guard at 6:55. People always raved about Ronnie Lott as the hardest hitting safety, when Bell was just as devastating. He was missed, but not necessary during the '85 run. Remember the hit on Joe Washington in the Divisional round. That hit turned the Bears loose of the Redskins.

Kenny Easley and Lott were legendary hitters. But Bell was a hybrid linebacker playing safety. In fact, Buddy played Bell at safety in Philly.

Right on re-Todd Bell, they lose Bell & Harris for the '85 season & don't miss a beat! Buddy Ryan was a defensive genius!

I gotta giggle from the fact that Tim Ryan calls quarters periods, ALL GAME LONG! Then, at the end of the third quarter, the guy doing the graphics puts up, "End of the third period." It's like they had been listening to Tim Ryan say it for three quarters and they FORGOT they were quarters and not periods! Love Johnny Morris calling out the Blitzes every time there's a blitz! Love it!

Not only did Manning get sacked 11 times, he was hit as many or more times on passes. The Vikings would end up at 3-13 & thus one of their worst seasons in their history. All things considered, Manning still had a fairly decent day in passing.

Sorry, had to literally laugh out loud. About 12 minutes in McMahon scrambles for a first down and Johnny says "...because he has great peripheral vision." McMahon can't see out of his right eye. Sigh, miss those days when Da Bears were rarely on national TV but we got to see 'em almost every week on CBS. Cheers....

The defense was awesome, but they never really developed the offense and relied too much on the defense later on. The Steelers won Super Bowls in '74 and '75 with awesome defense and a good offense. But they won in '78 and '79 with an aging but still very good defense and an awesome offense. This Bear team just never really developed their offense enough. Otherwise they would have won more SBs.
