Actually, Nami's one of the main reasons they even made it into the grand line, not to mention has survived even half as long as they would have with anyone else filling her role. She's badass actually.

Does anyone else get heart palpitations whenever the crew frets over Luffy? And I mean really frets. The expressions on Zoro and Sanji's faces especially gripped my heart here. Luffy was in real danger for a hot second (which doesn't happen as often as you'd think), and even Foxy was gripped by a need to make sure Luffy lived. The palpable fear radiating from everyone at the possibility that Luffy might not wake up and then the collective murmurs of relief when he coughed up the sea water made my heart sing? Like. Fuck. His crew mates care so much about him and he cares about them and it makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. God. I love the straw hats, I'm sorry, lmao.
The thought of Luffy dying must have made them very concerned. He was the light and joy of the crew, he was the hero of everyone in that crew, he was the one who gave them hope at some of their darkest moments. If I was in their universe, a universe than continues even when Luffy dies, I’d be very concerned as well.

Hancocks “love” towards Luffy is meant to be a gag/joke, just like how Oda deals with Sanji and his “love” for every girl. If you think about it from a mangaka’s perspective it’s pretty clear. Luffy already “likes” Hancock as a friend and still had some choice words for her. Therefore I assume that when Luffy told Hancock that he’s not marrying her, that is when he is “liking her” as in, he has changed his mind on how he views her as a person. Now technically he is indebted to her for what she did for him, however he still doesn’t sugarcoat the rejections at all, not even a maybe later, or “I can’t right now”. Now why would this happen? Let’s think about it from a mangaka’s perspective, it’s pretty simple. This comical relationship he setup for plot purposes in a matter of chapters has no significant role on what’s going to happen EoS. So he has Luffy do what would be the easiest option to let the audience know that the joke’s over, it’s not happening at the end, by having him reject her clear cut, twice. He originally did not plan for Hancock to be this kind of character. In interviews, editors have stated that Oda originally designed Hancock to be a ragged evil looking old woman with snakes. However, it would be harder for the audience to buy that she can ally with him later in the future, so he changed her appearance. He had no intention from the start this character would marry Luffy, as her original design basically ruled her out of marriage to a teenager. The only thing on his mind was, how to get a mean shibukai to turn good and help Luffy in a believable manner, while also making it funny. He did not plan accordingly for this as you can see, since he made Luffy not react to Hancock’s body in the bath. He even had to make an absurd excuse as to why he reacted to Nami but not Hancock just so millions of his fans don’t start believing that the main character is asexual. I enjoyed this movie. It's adventure in nebulandia. It's non canon but I enjoyed it . And it's fun that Luffy called nami in this way " that's my nami " in the very beginning of the movie.

After watching One Piece and seeing how Oda treats her...it seems pretty obvious to me that Nami is supposed to fill the role of a Queen. And while I am not convinced this is a guarantee of how things will turn out, to me, it seems that Luffy will end up Nami or no one at all. If Luffy were to end up with Boa, for example, then Nami's role as Queen would be taken away. At least right now, that doesn't make sense story-wise. But Nami as Queen doesn't guarantee a pairing, it only cements her role by Luffy's side. However, it would be cool to see Luffy's character shift towards understanding romance.

Is not her fault that she usally is less useful, the writing just keeps on misusing hers and robin's combat power and leaving them in the background so the monster trio can shine.
She may be the weakest in terms of fighting, but her outstanding skills as the navigator is enough. But we can see her slow improvement when it comes to fighting. She ain't trained ever since she was a kid like zoro, not a devil fruit user. Just a normal human with out of this world ability as the navigator that is needed for a crew. Her skills reading the weather is a great help for them too, she knows what to do during the times when a hurricane or storm happens. She's a vital member of the crew. I still don't know why some viewers hates her because she's weak? Maybe physically but it's so dumb of them to expect her to fight mercilessly like other when she have no powers like them and her opponent is crazy powerful. There's others who can fight already, of course she would go in the frontline if needed. That's the dynamic of straw hat crew. Not all capable of being a good fighter but she can be good in her own abilities (navigating) she trusted her crewmates to take charge in the battles especially the trio because they're the ones who's itching for some actions. She is hated because of her personality, constantly hitting luffy. Idk but in reality, if you have a troublemaker friends, of course you should step up to prevent them. Luffy can't be pursuaded with words. Seriously, I respect nami for enduring the troublemakers because if it was me, or at least in reality, I don't think I can endure the stress😂. She doesn't need to be a badass fighting front and center all the time. That's NOT her character. She's not a fighter, we already have characters like Zoro and Sanji for that. Nami plays a way more important role on a grand scale of things than just being a combatant of the crew. She has the second most panels in the manga after Luffy. She's considered one of the three pillars for ONE PIECE alongside Luffy and Zoro by Oda himself. She's also the ONLY character that actually bonds with arc specific characters like Aisa, Camie, Shirahoshi or Tama etc etc. None of the other SHs besides Nami really bonds with characters, sure they might have some interactions like for eg Robin talking with King Nepune or Kozuki Sukiyaki but she's not really bonding with them Like you see with Luffy and Nami bonding EMOTIONALLY with characters like Tama. Not JUST bonding with characters but Nami also plays a role of being present anytime big events happen. Like meeting with Blackbeard for the first time, or creating an alliance with Law to take down a Yonko or ringing the bell of shandora. These are big events and Nami has always been with Luffy. So yeah I would love it if she does get more badass moments like Zoro or Sanji but I'm also fine if she doesn't since she's way more important than just looking badass and Oda is doing amazing with her character.

Zoro was kidnapped at the start of the special while taking place in a davy back fight where he wasn't allowed his swords so Nami held onto them when they go to save him and Sanji.

When I said that the mushroom breaks their spirit for a time, I meant that it leaves them emotionally fragile-- they're vulnerable to easily losing their composure and cannot keep their emotions in check. For fighters like Zoro and Sanji (who both trained extensively to control their emotions in order avoid them becoming a hindrance in battle), this is a crippling handicap when it comes to combat. (Perona's ability simply drains a person's will to fight and makes them fall into despair and self-contempt for a brief amount of time.)

I enjoyed this movie. It's adventure in nebulandia. It's non canon but I enjoyed it . And it's fun that Luffy called nami in this way " that's my nami " in the very beginning of the movie.

After watching One Piece and seeing how Oda treats her...it seems pretty obvious to me that Nami is supposed to fill the role of a Queen. And while I am not convinced this is a guarantee of how things will turn out, to me, it seems that Luffy will end up Nami or no one at all. If Luffy were to end up with Boa, for example, then Nami's role as Queen would be taken away. At least right now, that doesn't make sense story-wise. But Nami as Queen doesn't guarantee a pairing, it only cements her role by Luffy's side.
However, it would be cool to see Luffy's character shift towards understanding romance.

Is not her fault that she usally is less useful, the writing just keeps on misusing hers and robin's combat power and leaving them in the background so the monster trio can shine.
She may be the weakest in terms of fighting, but her outstanding skills as the navigator is enough. But we can see her slow improvement when it comes to fighting. She ain't trained ever since she was a kid like zoro, not a devil fruit user. Just a normal human with out of this world ability as the navigator that is needed for a crew. Her skills reading the weather is a great help for them too, she knows what to do during the times when a hurricane or storm happens.
She's a vital member of the crew.
I still don't know why some viewers hates her because she's weak? Maybe physically but it's so dumb of them to expect her to fight mercilessly like other when she have no powers like them and her opponent is crazy powerful. There's others who can fight already, of course she would go in the frontline if needed. That's the dynamic of straw hat crew.
Not all capable of being a good fighter but she can be good in her own abilities (navigating) she trusted her crewmates to take charge in the battles especially the trio because they're the ones who's itching for some actions.
She is hated because of her personality, constantly hitting luffy. Idk but in reality, if you have a troublemaker friends, of course you should step up to prevent them. Luffy can't be pursuaded with words. Seriously, I respect nami for enduring the troublemakers because if it was me, or at least in reality, I don't think I can endure the stress😂. Some people needs to understand it. Why would she get hated when she was just disciplining them, so damn petty tbh.
Remember Zoro’s interpretation about, “team work?” he said, “I've done my best in my part so it's up all to you for the rest” it's like Nami’s part or role is navigating, given the part that she was never trained and just being emotionally and mentally tortured in arlong’s hands while drawing maps. The rest is up to others. That's their dynamic.
She doesn't need to be a badass fighting front and center all the time. That's NOT her character. She's not a fighter, we already have characters like Zoro and Sanji for that. Nami plays a way more important role on a grand scale of things than just being a combatant of the crew.
She has the second most panels in the manga after Luffy. She's considered one of the three pillars for ONE PIECE alongside Luffy and Zoro by Oda himself. She's also the ONLY character that actually bonds with arc specific characters like Aisa, Camie, Shirahoshi or Tama etc etc. None of the other SHs besides Nami really bonds with characters, sure they might have some interactions like for eg Robin talking with King Nepune or Kozuki Sukiyaki but she's not really bonding with them Like you see with Luffy and Nami bonding EMOTIONALLY with characters like Tama.
Not JUST bonding with characters but Nami also plays a role of being present anytime big events happen. Like meeting with Blackbeard for the first time, or creating an alliance with Law to take down a Yonko or ringing the bell of shandora. These are big events and Nami has always been with Luffy.
So yeah I would love it if she does get more badass moments like Zoro or Sanji but I'm also fine if she doesn't since she's way more important than just looking badass and Oda is doing amazing with her character.

Svader96 I haven't seen the movie myself, but from what I've read in other comments, apparently they both accidentally ate a mushroom that causes whoever eats it to have their spirit and determination broken for a period of time. They were emotionally compromised as a result. Zoro actually broke down in tears in the subsequent part where Luffy was _seemingly_ shot dead.

When I said that the mushroom breaks their spirit for a time, I meant that it leaves them emotionally fragile-- they're vulnerable to easily losing their composure and cannot keep their emotions in check. For fighters like Zoro and Sanji (who both trained extensively to control their emotions in order avoid them becoming a hindrance in battle), this is a crippling handicap when it comes to combat.
(Perona's ability simply drains a person's will to fight and makes them fall into despair and self-contempt for a brief amount of time.)
