So many people fail to pay attention to lyrics. The JAMC were not goth or gloomy. Their songs were full of below the radar references about sex. From what I heard they were drunks and speed freaks and also wrote about recreational drug use. Their outlook was more Motley Crue than Joy Division.
@@chocomanger6873 OK. Maybe not Motley Crue, bad example. But a lot of people who haven't really listened to the band think they are very dark and gloomy and I disagree with that. Also , about below the radar: It seems pretty obvious to me that Some Candy Talking is about sex but you still get a bunch of idiots posting stuff like:"Best song about heroin ever". I mean, I know what "the damp and hungry place" is but a lot of people find this metaphor challenging, or so it seems. Also, I know all the lyrics of every album by heart (except munki) and have analysed them to death while I was a horny teenager. Also, are you in disagreement with what I"m saying or are you just pretentiously quoting me out of context to give the impression that you know so much more than me while actually not expressing any opinions of your own.. Also Motley Crue = Joke (Ha ha). I meant Guns'n'Roses ;)
@@marie-claudeblais6025 I know you can't speak English. Try your mother tongue. It might work better. We're talking about a band here that has songs like "Teenage Lust" with a video of a naked girl dancing around with completely sexual gestures. You don't have to know any language and you don't even have to watch the video. Just listen to the music. This is not a band of "below the radar" references. LOL. It's in your face. What more do you want? You sound like the kind of person that would watch a hardcore porn video, completely ignore the actual sex, and make reference to the furniture in the room. Captain Obvious is waiting for you to show up to class. "Motley Crue"... Oh boy... It's entertaining though. With rock music there are always morons in the crowd.
@@chocomanger6873 Look. I was not aware of this video in the nineties. It was censored. I did not know it existed until last year. Do you think in 1991 all we had to do was click a button like you're doing now. The BBC censored 'Some Candy Talking', they also censored 'Reverence'. At the time, on my local video channel (TV. remember), during the only show of the week that dedicated to 'alternative music', the host informed us that "Reverence " had been banned in the UK. He said nothing about a super sleazy video for Teenage Lust being censored on his own channel. If he had, I would have paid attention. This info was not available to us back then, nor was this video. Are you a child? Do you know what things were like before Windows 95 existed. I became a fan in the mid eighties when they were still young and relevant. I saw Jim on stage twice when his was still so very beautiful and could still sing. All you'll ever get to see is two old men (still love you Jim, but come on) awkwardly stumble through song that sound silly coming out of their (old) mouth . Did the 'Damage and Joy" tour have a mosh pit? It's lovely that some of you idiot savants are taking an interest in music from my youth (maybe because your generation is incapable of producing anything resembling a song.) But you are not going to teach me anything about the Jesus and Mary Chain from a video none of us got to see at the time. See you benefit from hindsight without appreciating that it even is hindsight. Why don't you listen to the crappy music of your own generation produces and stop pretending you know everything about the jamc just because you read about Psychocandy in Vice.
Love his accent.
His accent is different nowadays. What a pity
Ahhhhhh, why all of a sudden there're these new videos of old interviews?!!! It's so nice.
Because this was / is a great, great band.
Fucking good interview, the guy did interesting questions as well. Even Jim Reid seemed to enjoy it.

@@mattiemclean9882 - I mean, I’m in the right habitat to do so. 🎸 😎

How the heck did "Darklands" sound angry" I think that's what album was out at the time.
The German interviewer is soooo cool. Wonder what he's doing now.
German!? Thougth he was danish...!
When did the Jesus and Mary Chain Gang founded, like that question by the interviewer
"Jesus and Mary Chain Gang" - very good.
And as soon as he asks the Gang question the word "gang" appears ( at 01:00 )
Jim Reid invented 'LOL' when asked if he missed East Kilbride in the rain. 3:26
Rough? Naah. It's smooth and dreamy
Just like Jim in 87
"Jim Read".................................
