Hi, I currently work at Australia but I have no Australian citizenship. I'm South Korean. But Korean government doesn't know about my income or work status. Does my income still can be part of Korean GNP?? Or does it count as Australian GNP? I'm confused.
Your work is GDP for Australia since you're there producing there. You dont need to be a citizen of Australia, furthermore, your company is Australian. It would be Korean G-N-P only if your company is based in Korea, regardless of who/where they produce. Example, Microsoft has factories in China. All product produced there (regardless if by Chinese, Mexican or American, whatever) counts as China's GDP, even though it is Microsoft, a US company, which also counts as US GNP. See how GDP can inflate or overstate certain nations, United States GAAP accounting would consider/prefer GNP since it wants to see the company's total worth/production not just what's 'local'.
Don't the factories of foreign companies contribute to GNP as well? Americans don't come to work in British Ford factories. Local people are hired. So would their wages contribute to British GNP, while the profits go to American GNP because the shareholders are American? Or do wages only count for GNI and not GNP, meaning GNI and GNP are different?
Thanks for clearing that up...l think Money wants to keep us confused!! But l'll try!..like Gecko in Wall St. Once said "...you win a few; you loose a few;...but you keep on fighting; and if you need a friend, get a dog"
