I played Undertale for the first time late last year - great game and great music all the way through.
For this arrangement of Megalovania I moved the intro melody to the bassline and built everything around that. Super fun to make!

After the battle, you(Joker) go to take Sans' Treasure from him, which he has kept in one of his hoodie pockets the entire battle. He pulls it out and outstretches his hand for you to take it. You don't know what form his Treasure takes, as all you see in his hand is an orb of glowing light. You grab it from him and put it in your back pocket, and he starts chuckling. You and the rest of the Phantom Thieves escape the collapsing Palace and are suddenly back in the real world, although you _do_ take a kinda nasty fall during the Metaverse exit, just like with Kaneshiro's Palace. When you fall on your butts, you all hear the sound of a really loud fart. Ryuji says, _"Okay, who ripped ass?!"_ After coming to the conclusion that _none of you farted,_ you remember the Treasure and check your back pocket to make sure you still have it with you. You reach into your back pocket and pull out something resembling a small, pinkish-red rubber balloon with some English words you don't understand on it. You flip it over to examine it more, noticing a sticky note attached to it. _You read the Japanese sloppily written on it in Comic Sans font:_
"heheh... the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick."

Thought the same thing! I imagined some of Sans' attacks would just be timing puzzles in the palace. Like Gravity switching, sneaking past Gaster Blasts, that sort of thing. Maybe he'd turn you into rats too?
You're right. You'd have to use some altered version of "Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans" for the actual boss theme.

@@johnnyalucard6641 a palace basically only for buffs and debuffs, wonder if you'd have to only use flee options or if it's more of a survive a certain amount of turns without doing damage (though due to the whole sneaking around feature it could be more like a penalty for being spotted)

I feel like sans as a boss would have really low stats, but it's circumvented with his movepool. He has both tetrakarn and makarakarn, he gets a special move that greatly raises his agility (think charge or concentrate, just for his evasion/accuracy), he has both curse and bless damage for single targets and for the whole party, and at one point, he'll cast his special attack, karmic retribution. This move grants him an extra move on his turn, increases his agility for the rest of the fight and increases the power of his attacks based on your party's average level in addition to all attacks now causing poisoning; essentially, karmic retribution leads into the second phase of the fight.
That sounds like a nocturne boss.

Sans is weak to physical attacks, he mostly uses nuclear attacks so watch out but he will use physical and psychic if he's in a pinch. He spams sukukaja to buff evasion, and whenever he feels threatened he will used tetrakarn and makarakarn. Be careful, he's more powerful than the death shadow, recommended personas are Satanael, and if you have it, Izanagi no Okami. For teams I suggest Ryuji, Yusuke, and Makoto. Hope this helps.

He's weak to Phys, yeah, but he also has Evade Phys and Evade Gun, as well as Ali Dance. Honestly, you might be better suited using strong elemental skills to get around his absurd evasion. Make sure to spam Sukunda and Masukukaja.

Sans has high agility and all hits targeted on him will miss unless if his SP is 0. Even if he got hit, he has Enduring soul and will not die instantly.
He has two turns per turn and his first turn will be red Capote and debilitate. He will spam his maeigaon and Megidolaon while sukukaja and debilitate is still in effect. If one of your party members used dekaja or dekunda, sans' next turn will be mamudoon which will guarantee a hit to the one who used dekaja or dekunda.
And before you fight him, you shall not bring party members and personas with null, repel or resist dark or else Sans will mock you for being scared and use Megidolaon that will deal 9999 damage.
Every time you die, sans' dialogue before battle will be "you looked pissed like you have died (number of deaths battling Sans), how about we make it the (number of attempts, including current attempt) time?."
Also, I forgot to mention that your agility will be capped to 30 in this challenge boss fight
Also also, I'm concerned the fact that he may be easy to kill so I did this:
His Max SP is 20000. To damage his HP, you have to deplete his SP by basically hitting him. He's weak to Physical and Strong Against Everything else. So the best teammates here are Kasumi, Ryuji, Yusuke or Morgana

I've seen people make jazz style covers of megalo, but this is the only one that moves the intro melody ot the base and puts the flavor notes and following harmonies on the main instruments to give the song a more fluid structure. Might be a bit biased here, but this is my favorite megalo cover

In a different timeline, where the underground merged with the city of Persona, the lone survivor Sans was brought back to the overworld, he was excluded from society and lived under the shadows of the cities, there were many rumors saying that a ghost or monster existed in the cities, Sans would have eventually had enough of humans, and so, because of his hatred towards humanity thanks to FRISK, he started to massacre humans whose were wandering around at night, eventually the cognition of Sans completely changed and became more violent, and thus, The Phaton Thieves started investigating, and after some time, they got Sans palace information:
Name: Sans the skeleton
Place: Overworld
Distorsion: Underground
While the phantom thieves were exploring his palace, they eventually met Sans past traumas, they have also fought many shadows that had the aspect of demons and various monsters, and the last one, which was on a place called judgement hall, there was this strange shadow who looked like a kid, and just as the fight ended, Sans appeared from the shadows, and while the phantom thieves expected another battle, Joker received a handshake, and obviously, he had a fart cushion on his hand, and with that, he breaks the tension on the atmosphere, and thanks them for defeating that monster, he then tells them where his treasure is, and then, he disappears.
After that, the phantom thieves assured the path to the treasure, and after that, they sent the calling card, when they reach the treasure, sans is standing there once again, but this time, he just thanks them for freeing him from his pain, and so, the phantom thieves steals Sans treasure, and while they leave, Sans is watching them slowly drift away, going all back to the start of the ruins, eventually reaching the surface where they first came from.
Then, in the real world, the treasure transforms into a photo, which was what it could have been a happy ending, but it wasn’t, and so everyone’s faces where crossed out.
Beautiful, just beautiful...
Small addition I'd make, is that the boss fight would involve the boss coming back every time they're 'defeated' to showcase their DETERMINATION. This is what drives Sans to homicide. After enough defeats, we go to a cutscene of the Phantom Thieves being exhausted and Sans appears to help them somehow. The Shadow falls a few more times, then just stops spawning again (they gave up).
Not a hard battle to bring the boss down, but the repetition would drain resources like crazy.
