- Upgrading to a new phone can be a tedious process and data transfer can be confusing.
In this video I will show you how you can easily backup to a Google Account and restore everything on to a new phone without using 3rd party apps.
This process was done on Android 9 but the process should be the same for Android 10 as well.

Note: If the backup button is disabled / greyed out, you will need to temporarily disable your Android Lock Screen Security Method (PIN, Password, Fingerprint or Pattern). There seems to be a bug in android that disables the backup button on some handsets.

*This process may not work with phones that don’t use stock android like Samsung as they have their own backup & restore solution.

My google accounts were logged in automatically but my outlook was not so it's not guaranteed
Thank you for the video. Question for anyone who may know. I have Xfinity Mobile and I just want to switch phones from Galaxy S9 to Galaxy S22 Both are owned outright and unlocked. I assume I just move the SIM card to the new phone and then data transfer from the S9 to the S22? I don't need Xfinity to do anything correct?

When do you take old sim and switch it to new phone . After you do all the transfer ? Or Can u switch it before transfering

THANK YOU! This was the best transfer info I found. Very clear and simple! So far it looks like everything came over, including all of my SMS messages which was what I worried about most. (Went from Pixel 2 to Pixel 4a.)

@@THELABHUB I will mention in case others are reading this that any photos that were attached to text messages did not transfer with the texts. Not a huge deal as I'm keeping my old phone as a back up and the photos/texts are still on that one.
Brother how I backup my all data photo/video/images size almost 30gb I have WiFi also but I will sell old phone to purchase new phone so I will backup first in old phone any gmail

I found with the apps it kind of re-downloads them from the play store so not all apps are guaranteed to be moved especially if they're not compatible, discontinued or side loaded. Google 1 gives you additional storage and additional backup options as well

Fun fact: this is the video that helped me transfer all my data to the phone I'm currently using rn. It really helped a lot and saved a lot of time! Now Imma just put this in my downloads so whenever I get another phone in the near future, Im sure this will really help!💙

Technically Yes, as long as you don't delete anything from your phone while account is still logged in.

Well if they are backed up to google photos on the old phone and you log in to the same account on the new phone then your photos will be there

Great video. I just went from a Pixel 5a to a Pixel 6a. It used Google One for the default backup in the system backup. The restore didn't work as good as your demo. All the app were copied over but it didn't create them on the home screen, had to drag out and place on the screens. What bothered me the most is all my pictures are gone in my text messages, the text is there but no pictures. I haven't deleted the phone I'm cloning, is there a way to get the pictures too?
If you're using Google One you have to go to the settings and enable multimedia messages backup I remember it was not on by default for me. You might need to repeat the transfer process after that. Using a cable to transfer should copy them across

How about the oppo or Xiaomi phone series to clone data form old phone to transfer the new phone?
Oppo have their own app that does it, and I'm pretty sure xiaomi do as well
I bought a usbc to usbc cable, just so I could easily transfer my data to my new phone, only to learn my phone doesn't give me that option. I then found your other video which helps me do it wirelessly. When I backed up my old phone the account was GoogleOne, that account doesn't appear on my new phone and the only account that shows up is the account from my new phone (which has been reset) backed up 3 days ago. Very confusing for a middleaged non computer person. I have a hammer on my workbench that will fix both phones.
After doing this… we need to factory reset the old phone or just logout…???…in case we need to give that phone to somebody else
Log our and then you can reset if you want to delete all data
Great video! If the pictures from the camera on the old phone are stored on a micro card. Is it best to install the micro storage card with the pics on it into the new phone first before transferring data from old phone to New phone? Thanks :)

My question is , my friend had used his sim card in my phone. Now, I have forgotten if I formatted the phone before giving it to him. this is the normal procedure and thank you for sharing it. but what can we do to resume the process if it happens the wi-fi connection has an issue and the interrupted restoring process is skipped? can we set up the phone and do the restore process whenever we want?
It depends on the android phone manufacturer, some allow you to restore from the phone settings after you've set it up, with others you just need to do a factory reset to bring up the data transfer options again. Hope that helps

By all data I mean, all of it. My phone has a 64gb data. D the Google is just limited to 15gb I guess
Thanks, helpful, I did it. Now my new Pixel 4a, when I look in G Playstore, is saying "waiting for wifi" at each app transfer/download.... so now I must find how to allow the device to download with mobile data.
Glad I could help! 🙏 Try going to play store settings and then under network preferences - change to app download over any network, see if that works
@@THELABHUB Yeah, that was one of the things I tried... and Playstore just stubbornly was stuck on "waiting for wifi". I went into other settings on the phone too, like network settings, made sure downloads and updates can be done on any network. Nothing worked and had to cancel the mission. Will have to retry.

If I transferred all my data from old phone to New Phone by this method ...then will all the data in my old phone erase or it will still be there 🙄🤨
As long as you don't factory reset your old phone then everything will stay on there. The process is meant to copy across the data and should not delete the original source.

If you use the same google account it will give you option to restore from another device (as long as the backup is on Google/Gmail)

Probably not, usually you need to be signed in to an account for things like that to synchronise

I'm going to guess you can re-download the app but you won't be able to get your files that where stored in there as they probably would not have been backed up to the cloud 🤷🏻♂️ but I'm no expert on that

Use the Samsung Smart Switch app instead for Samsung

As far as my knowledge goes Google accounts will copy across you just may be asked for a password

If Google photos was setup on your old phone to automatically backup then all you have to do is sign in to your Gmail account on the new phone and it should have the photos there. If it wasn't setup to backup I'm afraid it's not possible...
What about Samsung notes when switching to a non Samsung phone

It should do both photos, as far as other things - you get the option to tick what you want to transfer

The Sim card doesn't actually hold any information (on very rare occasions contacts) so there is no need to transfer it over first, it can be done at any time
