My daughter is a feminist, a teenager! I too regard much respect to feminism. But I’m a working mother doing all kitchen chores with zero help from my daughter. And I ask her is this the right feminism! She’s making her mother to do all the work & she sits and share feminism posts in insta! When I tell her , If you have to be independent in life study the house chores alone with academics. If you say swiggy, house maid, that’s not how you win the argument. In todays world you should be conscious about what you eat, hotel food will defenitely make you sick! Be independent both financially & individually. If you do some cooking that won’t make you less feminist. I tell my boy & girl equally to be independent, to study the house chores!
U must b joking huh🤔suggesting to clean the room n do the dishes, jus bcos it's a girl. Modern day feminism is all bout leaving the kitchen n laundry behind n pursue total freedom n empowerment, don't u know yet??
chechi whatever u said is right, but next time do one thing ask ur son to share the household duties, and make him do tht, so ur feminist daughter will see this and might understand. I think some feminists specially girls get irritated when thy see their moms asking girl child to do the household works without asking same to their sons, even i had these same feminist thoughts and i never helped my working mother in kitchen, and when my dad says this dialogue “ 2 penpiller ulla veedaanu enn parayuo ith onnu adichu vaari ittode? “ So the rebel in me asks my dad that why dad do girls have extra something ? Why can’t papa or brother help my amma in kitchen and other works, i was super lazy like my brother, now i got married and i dont even know to cook, even if i see youtube and cook also it will be an utter flop, and my husband cook’s really well, his mom had taught both her son n daughter equally everything, literally everything, so now I’m learning many things from them
Years back, i spoke to a psychiatrist friend of mine about the regret that I had regarding my mom's sacrifice. I was feeling really low thinking that I'm a selfish daughter. Then she said something which I remember every day. " A mother's love for her child is selfless. You cannot pay it back. But you can pass it on."
Rima resonates with each and every woman around us, around me. My heart still feels heavy by listening her talk this beautifully. I could relate this with my own thoughts and feelings(especially about mom being happy). I have asked my mom once this same question that is she really happy. I had to take (still taking) several sessions of therapy so that I don’t blame myself for seeing her sacrifice her life for everyone else. More love to you❤
Dear Rima , don't always say your parents suffered because of you , you put your parents through this and that . I strongly feel our parents get kids who help them evolve beyond what they are . someone who challenges their limitations and helps them grow. You are that for your parents :)
No words Dhanya.... Loved every part of the talk... Rima seemed to have spoken for many of us... Many of our mothers... Thank you Rima for voicing out so genuinely. She is absolutely right when she said about the space you are creating Dhanya... All your hard work and sincerity reflects in the talks you conduct. Keep going.
My heart is aching ❤. My mother cooked for 30 years for her parents and siblings and that was her only world . She told us to study and get a job so that I don’t want to spend the 24 /7 life in kitchen. Like Rima many daughters like me would like to ask mothers out there “ r u happy what life had given yo you “😢😢 Hugs and kisses to all the mothers out there🫂❤. Always Cudos to Dhanya mam 👍
Wow..she talked about women of today yesterday and daybefore..so true..my grandmother was a no shits given person..and mom and her sisters turned out to take up the ultra caregiver roles..and am trying to escape and embrace at the same time both..it's exhausting..
Hi Ma'am Definitely, as Rima said, this show is a relief for all of us who are listening, and unfortunately, due to certain circumstances or not in the limelight common people like us are not ready to take chances to open up and to share our feelings for others especially to our parents and I feel I also wanted them to be extremely happy and I felt we need to empathise with them or other people who went through traumas in their lifetime. When you said I want to ask my mom whether she is happy with the life she has and definitely, it's a relevant question, and I think at least we should do this once inlife to make them feel proud of us that we even spare sometime to atleast think about it. Not only to our mothers but also to our fathers who took all the responsibility in their shoulders supporting their family sacrificing everything for them by living apart (NRIs) The most relevant thing today is that everyone wants to be heard, and to be protected or an empathetical approach is one of the most important aspects where it directly helps people with hope, happiness, positivity and connection with those who are around us or for those who feel that they are alone in this life and where they didn't felt they belong in this world or they have any place in somebody else's life. Life is always about sacrifice, and we find it meaningful when we were able to wipe out the tears of our dear and near one's with our empathic approach. First of all, we have to make our own parents happy, and that is the only way we can repay our debts of their indebtedness of their unlimited love, care and and innocence throught the life. Thank you DHANYA Ma'am
I echo what Rima mentioned, my grand mother was super bold, not only my grand mother, all other ammummas in that generation. My amma has dedicated whole life for her 3 daughters and still doing it and she wanted 3 of us should graduated, get a job and handle money by ourself and all 3 of us achieved that❤
I think the boomer generation could not develop intellectually much, they were scared to take risks and they just went along with whatever society mandated. Whereas their previous generation, the grandmothers had to struggle, make decisions and really push themselves, so they were better decision makers and had strength.
Rima, when we see you from outside we feel like you are so stubborn.. But after watching the interview, my entire perspective about you changed.. Very sensitive and empathetic character... You are doing really a good job @Dhanya
😢😢I'm speechless ..Rima u wanted to ask ur mother but my 19 year old asked me this question few months back n I was stunned..cos nobody asked me about that..I won't blame anybody cos it was my choice..my husband my kid was my priority n in that long journey somewhere I forgot about my existence..may be I was not affected cos of my peaceful life abroad n now slighly self realisation is coming back in Kerala...Anyways Dhanya thanks dear for making your guests feel so relaxed n they pour out their true emotions🤗
When people come to dhanya's interview, they speak incredibly amazing. That's dhanya's quality ❤ She create such a positive ambience that brings the best out of everyone. Worth watching.❤
Hearing a beautiful conversation between two women who chose to struggle , and are still struggling ....makes me feel connected and am just heavy with my emotions right now
That fear is so true!! Being trapped in kitchen, for I hv seen my mom like that always..she is a teacher but she never got off from kitchen duty.. Omg!..I will not do that for the sake of my sanity.. but the regret is also true..! N I have asked my mom how she does this, everyday..! She said she doesn't have an option, that's why. When I shared this with my therapist she agreed top notch on how true that is, n we talked about the social construct..how women is expected to be everything..and she gave assurance to my feeling of not wanting such a life by simply saying that its inhumane to live like that, n it's okay to get up late and do minimal things n go on with the day, in a way comfortable for me.. It does feel selfish! Bt I guess we have to figure out a point between guilt and selfishness..n be with our moms..
She is having very realistic thoughts ❤. Very much relatable... we need an equal world... I tell my son to learn the house hold works for his better tomorrow.
I have always had this negative association with kitchen and the worst fear of my life Is having to cook 3 meals a day for 365 days. As you both said the it travels back to my mother who I have seen always in the kitchen, doing everything by herself and not able to take a leave for a single day. Sometimes I feel I am a selfish daughter for not helping her enough and just ran from her. But now I know the freedom that I enjoy today is her tears and sweat. She wanted me not to suffer what she had to. I can never be half as selfless as she is.😔
I guess either be single forever and enjoy the freedom or you can make that a deal breaker when you date or marry a guy. Test out his cooking skills and if he is willing to contribute as well.
It’s really true , our grandmas were much powerful, many of us can completely relate to each and every word Rima has been telling.Dhanya Varma , hats off to you for such honest interviews, I always felt that we all travel through similar boats , with slightly varying experiences
Its not mandatory that every one should understand that ,what she is very much clear about... Clear thoughts and vision..n respect for u rima n dhanya..
Every single word that Rima Mam discussed is really true.. Including mine, our parents really want us to spread out our wings and fly high..but the way they are conditioned and the thought of how society will interpret, haunts them.. Thank you for the ultimate hope..and this is one of the finest interviews I have ever seen❤️ Really need Parvathy Thiruvoth Mam here💝
How much I resonate with her!! collective women consciousness or something i don't know.. but loved this conversation so much.. thanks for bringing her to this space 🤍
I really wished this talk never ended.. It jus touched the most.. especially for someone like me who cant find a strength to come out my depression pit, who dont yet know how to let go of my past.. who cant find any hope in the future, but still fighting to get out of my drowning phase.. these talks jus give that ray of light knowing its not jus us, but all are fighting their own lot battles in life,, ❤❤❤ Awww Dhanya, u r an amazing gem of a soul to bring out these invaluable talks to us… Really full on appreciation for u dearest Dhanya ❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏
So heartbreaking to see even Rima who has stood for the right things has to accept and went in to depression that this world will not change all of a sudden and that is true for every warrior ....But she rose from that and has come back..kudos Rima and to all warriors out there...
My Mom's sacrifice is what helped me be a better woman...she made that choice and that sacrifice does bear fruit....as we carry and pay that compassion forward...was blessed to have a Mom like that...hats off to Mom's who make that choice praying it bears fruit for their children. Rima appears to have experienced some attachment wounds....may she find peace...reconciliation...healing.
Dhanya,i can relate her completely in this part..even I didn't have interest in cooking bcos I have seen all my childhood my mom was in the kitchen! ..and yes our grandmothers were so strong compared to our moms ...rima ..i don't know u r seeing my comment or not...but u r real..stay strong, healthy, happy....thank you Dhanya for these moments❤
I completely agree with what Rima said about the transition that happened in the past generation. My grandmother had the full authority in my home on everything but it did not happen for my mamma. She was having a job, and after marriage didn't go to work and remained as a housewife. But from when I was born, until now, she always told me to study and do my work. She always takes of the kitchen and other duties. But all of my relatives are against this and were saying pillara paniedupikunila. 😢 male supremacy was a lot higher in the past generation than in our grandmother's time
The bestest one.. Worth watching all four episodes. Dear rima u are an amazing girl with so much clarity in your thoughts and u have a beautiful soul.. Dear dhanya u are such a super journalist who know what to extract and how to extract things from people whom u talk with. Thank u so much for this.
@iamwithdhanyaverma thank you for getting rima to this show.....my struggles have got a face now....wat i have been try to say since years is been said. So happy to watch this. Its doubled by spirit to fight. Love u Rima❤
Loved the interview ❤ Jus came to know the wonderful person you are Rima, through this interview. Like Rima mentioned in the last part, Dhanya, you deserve all the credits for such wonderful conversations, the time you give them to answer your questions, your genuine response to them, wholeheartedly listening to them, these are things that make them comfortable in your show and hence they also talk genuinely.
The question ...Why.. coz Rima you were meant to be here perhaps for us to realize what our mothers of our generation have sacrificed. Thank you, Rima & and I can't thank you enough, Dhanya❤
I was waiting for this interview. I am crying now. When ever I enter kitchen and do something I have a fear that "Will I end up like my mother'' This is the only reason I did not learn cooking. I did not help mom. I wanted to escape from the kitchen. But my mom does everything for me. I was selfish. Now 28 years old. I cant cook a meal. I have been thinking about this for a while. Feeling guilty. How can I help my mother. I want her to know happiness outside kitchen.
Totally resonate with what they're saying. I always feared of getting trapped in the kitchen too like so many other women in our society. I wish my Mom could also relax and sit down to enjoy a movie every night with us rather than having to worry about the kitchen and us. Now, even when she has time, she does not enjoy a movie because she's just not used to it. Being a Mother is probably the best thing that can happen to a woman but don't loose yourself or your own life for another life
What a beautiful conversation . Our grand mothers were powerful, ruling the house, taking care of farms , lands, etc. but our mothers suffered and was confined to kitchens or taking care of family .
Wow.... This interview is mindblowing.... Every thought and every idea shared directly touches a woman's heart and can relate to it completely... Thank you for inviting her and for this conversation
Nothing to say...❤️❤️❤️ I think only one girl can understand other... Dhanya's questions were also very relevant. Such an amazing interview. U guys Rock 😘
As mohanlal said in bigg boss, cooking അറിയുന്നത് oru Essential kaaryam aanu for men and women..... Alland cooking ariyilla ennu parayunath oru gama aayit kaanuna kure alakr und
This was such a beautiful conversation Rima and dhanya chechi. Each and every word you told, about our mothers generation somehow stuck, even now, and their happiness, I relate to it so much. And the kitchen part, even though I enjoy cooking, i always pretend as if I hate cooking just because that image of our moms in kitchen, always scares me. And i would never want that for me. More power to both of you. ❤
Never felt like commenting on any RUclips channel shows. But this time I just couldn't stop myself. Wish this talk would never end... Hats of to both of you.. 👏👏👏
What an interview ma'am,both of you were creating such a wonderful space.. Were letting out the hardships of many average keralite women trying to find her own existence.. Just through your conversation.. Wish both of you, all the best things in your life. .
So happy to see a positive comment box , compared to fb...an inspiration to many..n we could literally feel the pain u talked about when you were taken of the opportunity to do ur craft... As u said u speak for the many woman out there..
This was such a beautiful conversation could relate to it so much.Achama and Amama were so powerful and bold amma despite working I feel sacrifice and struggle a lot more I have always thought of asking if she is happy and content but the truth is I know it .She always said don't need help and silently puts herself second. Can listen to you both speak forever..
Oh god! Parents karyam parayumbo it reminded me of my parents. I think ella parents same ayrikm. About being in d kitchen, about praying, about having a normal job or pg or anythn tht of normal. Ente mamma orma vannu. Ente ponnu dhanya chechi orale enkilm karayikathe viduo😅 ipo i feel for them at d same tym aa dhe eyalem karayichu. Angeya thonane. Ningal oru sambavam anu. Looking forward for each n every interview of urs. Great work.
I am happy that my mom is now living for her happiness. .After my sister and I gt married, they gt some space for themselves. I don't want my parents to take care my kid. They have done enough for me.
Ammak dreams chase chyan pattitillaann matram alla she doesnt even know what her dreams are...she doesnt even have one for her own..lives of all our mothers is a horror story..but the saddest part is..they never have a problem with that...they have done all this for us with utmost happiness...thinking thats how a mother is meant to be🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
My heart is soooo full 🥹🥰 Loved each and every bit if this.I always loved Rima, never judged her for what she has been doing all this while, bcoz I could always connect with her and ideologies 💙 She reflects my personality so much and just like the ppl who always think she is a stubborn woman ....they think of the same about me as well.Wonderful interview 🥳
Dhanya Ma'am, thank you for giving a safe space for people to sit & talk. Thank you for not choosing click bait lines or questions and making sure that you talk about relevant subjects. Thank you for being a good listener and being genuine. You are a star!!
Thank you again Dhanya for this interview.. thank you for introducing us to this Rima Kallingal.. she is going to be one of the changemakers for womanhood not just in cinema but beyond that…thank you Rima for doing this interview..the world should know and needs to know your thoughts and what you have to say… ❤ Proud

Yes. These young feminists forget that they should share house hold chores with her mother.

Hi Ma'am
Definitely, as Rima said, this show is a relief for all of us who are listening, and unfortunately, due to certain circumstances or not in the limelight common people like us are not ready to take chances to open up and to share our feelings for others especially to our parents and I feel I also wanted them to be extremely happy and I felt we need to empathise with them or other people who went through traumas in their lifetime.

Not only to our mothers but also to our fathers who took all the responsibility in their shoulders supporting their family sacrificing everything for them by living apart (NRIs)
The most relevant thing today is that everyone wants to be heard, and to be protected or an empathetical approach is one of the most important aspects where it directly helps people with hope, happiness, positivity and connection with those who are around us or for those who feel that they are alone in this life and where they didn't felt they belong in this world or they have any place in somebody else's life.

Yeah the value of dhanya varma’s interviews are huge❤❤❤
Happened to see the interview today and watched all 4 episode in one strech. Thank you for such a great show❤️
The question ...Why.. coz Rima you were meant to be here perhaps for us to realize what our mothers of our generation have sacrificed. Thank you, Rima & and I can't thank you enough, Dhanya❤
I was waiting for this interview. I am crying now.
When ever I enter kitchen and do something I have a fear that "Will I end up like my mother''
This is the only reason I did not learn cooking. I did not help mom. I wanted to escape from the kitchen. But my mom does everything for me. I was selfish. Now 28 years old. I cant cook a meal.
I have been thinking about this for a while. Feeling guilty. How can I help my mother.
I want her to know happiness outside kitchen.
Then take her out n show around, what r u waiting for; the next meal to be ready?
Was crying throughout ... Such a pure and beautiful conversation❤
Being a Mother is probably the best thing that can happen to a woman but don't loose yourself or your own life for another life
Thankyou Dhanya for this lovely interview. I could relate to her thoughts and sensibilities. God bless ❤
What a beautiful conversation . Our grand mothers were powerful, ruling the house, taking care of farms , lands, etc. but our mothers suffered and was confined to kitchens or taking care of family .
Ye it's absolutely right.we were confused what was happened in between them.
What a relief to listen to you guys talking!
As mohanlal said in bigg boss, cooking അറിയുന്നത് oru Essential kaaryam aanu for men and women..... Alland cooking ariyilla ennu parayunath oru gama aayit kaanuna kure alakr und

Enthanu dhanya chechide programil varunna ellarum imotional akunath...❤
This was such a beautiful conversation Rima and dhanya chechi. Each and every word you told, about our mothers generation somehow stuck, even now, and their happiness, I relate to it so much. And the kitchen part, even though I enjoy cooking, i always pretend as if I hate cooking just because that image of our moms in kitchen, always scares me. And i would never want that for me. More power to both of you. ❤
7:34 oh man I'm melting away..

Can listen to you both speak forever..
