Nice video Jim. Ive been spreading the word about Jitsi since the pandemic and the various security issues of one of rhe "major players" in this space.

Hi Jims, What about the potential of your virtual meetings with MiroTalk SFU, a cutting-edge Selective Forwarding Unit (SFU). While Jitsi has proven to be a reliable solution, MiroTalk SFU introduces innovative features that redefine your video conferencing experience, ensuring a seamless blend of familiarity and advanced capabilities.
Hey@@Jims-Garage! Appreciate it a ton! We're huge enthusiasts of WebRTC, and MiroTalk & Jitsi are absolute gems in our book! Just kicked off following you on GitHub, and over in our "best-of-WebRTC" repo, we've put together a fantastic lineup of open-source projects that are totally worth checking out. Of course, Jitsi holds a special place there, and we think MiroTalk is hands down the most comprehensive solution for all video conferencing needs! Cheers!
Found your channel from a Reddit thread. Thank you for the content. One suggestion. Zoom in a few times on your windows. It’s pretty difficult to read while on the phone. Also will make it easier for those following along using split screen on a laptop.
Thanks, appreciate the feedback. It's difficult to judge sometimes as zooming in too much looks terrible on desktop. I'll certainly look to see if I can improve it.
Nice video, I installed Jitsi back in 2020 and it was very hard to install, with so many working parts hard to maintain also. I will give the mirotalksfu a good look looks simple to run.
Thanks for the video, with the enshittification of discord (they are now serving ads) I'm looking forward to giving this a go and crossing my fingers that it is a decent replacement.
finally set it up myself. Although im using nginx for reverse proxying it, i got it working. The only issue is, Im getting low bitrates, and only 360p max. It's also not getting better over time. I've opened ports 10000-20000 in my router and have tested calls with 2 or 3 instances on my home LAN. It just won't show in a nice quality.
Excellent video, thank you. Do you have a feel for minimum ISP data rates for this to work at home? I am on 'Fixed Wireless' and just tested with 80.81 Mbps d/l, 9.4 Mbps u/l, 50 ms ping. Only thinking of max 4 guests (family) 😀 Worth trying, do you think?
Thank you so much for the reply - great news. @@Jims-Garage

I have done it all, exept for the traefik setup. I did the setup with nginx-proxy-manager with my domain with cloudflare. Opened the 10000 UDP port in my router pointing to the host ip. But when staring a meeting it start reconnecting right away. Any help will be appreciated.
I'm not familiar with that aspect of Nextcloud, and there's nothing wrong with using it. I prefer to operate on the basis of 1 app 1 purpose where possible, especially when things are going to be exposed. I'll take a look at it.
fully understand. Usually that's the best way to go. Setting up my home-server, I've noticed though, that often choosing which and setting things up for each individual app can be tedious and time consuming. That's why I asked. Just discovered you btw. Nice job on the quality! @@Jims-Garage
@@KeesFluitman thanks. I find it takes some time to get the initial config right, but once it's done you're good to go (with the benefits of repeatability)
@@Jims-Garage true. That is, if u do it with docker compose. My unraid system also supports that now. Even though the gui of unraid is nice. Ive always preferred docker comoose.

Sounds like someone from Marketing, albeit it's piqued my interest ;) I'll have a look.

It is going to take me so long to watch your entire catalog.... so much information I need to know....
Take your time and hop into Discord if you have any questions.

That's what I have and it works with 4 people no problem. You can adjust quality in the call to reduce bandwidth.

any ideas why I would go through all that trouble if my nextcloud instance can do it with talk? I'm not using it really, but I'm just wondering.

Hi Jim, how can I join your Discord server?
Check the video description :)
@@Jims-Garage Thank you, link seemed to be invalid when I tried to click it earlier today.
@@Dirizabl is it working now?
@@Jims-Garage Yes, thanks!
Barely readable even on a 1080p monitor. You should rewatch your videos on a mobile phone.
Background noise (music?) is too high.
Your content is good, but recording at -4k- UHD is kind of bad form. I'd suggest 1920x1080. Cheerio
Thanks for the feedback. What is the issue with 4k, is it hard to read?
@@Jims-Garage Yes. Screen scaling is selective about what is scaled. 1080 is sort of a defacto standard.
