For Ben Stein to refer to Richard Nixon as a saint tells me he has no clue of what right and wrong actually is. I would be embarrassed to be 70 years old and not understand that a dishonorable, tyrannical, and evil criminal is not a saint.

Ben Stein is a FREAK and no doubt a HUGE FAN of the Republican Party’s most most deviant criminal POTUS in the history of our country… who makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout. At least Nixon did SOME good things with his presidency; in fact, if he wasn’t so paranoid and mentally I’ll he would have gone down as a solid POTUS!

    • @cinephile0620

While I think calling him a saint is certainly undeserved based on what he’s done, I also think it’s a stretch to call him evil and tyrannical. He was certainly dishonest and his methods to victory were politically unethical, but don’t throw around big words like evil and tyrannical unless it’s deserved - it lessens the impact from figures who are truly deserving of those titles (Hitler, Stalin, Gaddafi, etc).
And y’all didn’t know him personally like Ben. Don’t invalidate his experience and say it’s false when 1) your knowledge about the situation and Nixon is limited to public information and general perception, and 2) you don’t have the right to dictate someone else’s experiences of someone.
No hate, just think it’s important to understand and address.

@@markross2124 There are so many political scandals. Nixon sums it up in the Frost interview when he says, 'When the president does something, it's not illegal'. When someone who has been elected by the people to serve the nation uses that office to conduct his own criminal enterprise, it makes a mockery of democracy. Maybe that has always been the case to an extent, but because he got caught and it became so public, it has historic significance.

Nixon is such a fascinating personality. As a documentary about him I saw recently said, "... he was one of the most successful Presidents on the world stage. Lauded as a world statesman who thawed the cold war. He was re-elected in one of the biggest landslides on American history. Yet Richard Nixon, is also the only President to resign. Forced out of the White House in abject disgrace,"

Wow, this was so great, thanks so much for posting!! I've been obsessed with Watergate since reading All the President's Men and I have watched a ton of documentaries on the scandal. I think this is my favorite one I've seen. I love that this one was focused on Woodward and Bernstein's reporting but also included the wider context to what was happening at the time as well as the cultural impact of the scandal. I lot of the documentaries I have seen tell the story of what was going on behind the scenes within Nixon's administration but they tend to leave out Woodward and Bernstein's role in everything, probably bc their story is so well known. This documentary is the best of both worlds for me, since their reporting is the part of Watergate I find the most interesting, but I love getting to know what was happening at the same time as well.

Therein lies the difference between someone who leans right and someone who leans left. Here's Ben Stein actually weeping, calling Nixon a saint who was wrongly persecuted (after everything). Then Bernstein saying it was "hate" discovering itself as its own enemy. I suppose we're hardwired, because I simply can't believe Stein "still" believing in Nixon. -- Fast forward then to today. Hardwiring as a given, do you really think Watergate would even reach anywhere near the prosecutorial attention that it did then? That Nixon would be impeached (and/or resign?) After what Trump has already gotten away with? Are you joking? Nixon would still be in office. -- And leave it to Joe Scarborough (at the very end) to make analogies to "Democratic" presidents ONLY -- like Stein, hardwired for "denial" to the very end.

Lmao I know it’s funny I made this sooo long ago I had to rewatch it the other night to remember it. I had something similar to this but more of the current political craziness and how it’s distracting the population. I think we have the most active population glancing into politics but don’t know who is good news. Kinda just got to see what both sides say then see what one side doesn’t say on the same topic and same thing with the other the mueller report is damming but not the Russians it’s a elite class plus a intel group.... if you watch my Erik prince videos from the last week it opens a little bit of the picture

I get it believe me... if I didn’t have something like that watermark added I would’ve had to make the size of the video very very small so I had to pick one or the other. Otherwise you would’ve had to buy it on RUclips unfortunately the production company gets the ad rev instead of having to pay for it. I think on here it was like 4 dollars when I recorded it

Nixon was a big bureaucrat. He created more government agencies that have become a burden to the taxpayer. The ATF, DEA, OSHA, etc. He might have meant well, but these agencies are not necessary. It is up to the states to regulate commerce and legal protections, not the federal government.

    • @UFO_computers
      @UFO_computers Год назад +2

FALSE•Technically it is operationally impossible for federal taxes to be recycled.
Federal taxes NEVER provide revenue nor funding for govt spending.
State and municipal taxes are revenue but federal taxes NEVER fund any spending.
The US is monetarily sovereign and doesn’t need an income to spend because it issues the currency.
All spending is new dollars as a result of political will in congress(known as “high powered money” because it is bank deposits + bank reserves).
Federal taxes do the reverse resulting in deleted funds from the bank account and deleted reserves from the bank’s reserve account.
Therefore re-spending is operationally non-existent. Once the reserves are deleted from the reserve system all that is left is bookkeeping for the IRS, Fed, treasury, and Social security etc. for allocation purposes.
So, what needs to happen is a shift in political will to what benefits Main St/the 99%
Even Social security is just a spreadsheet for accounting and allocation purposes, not an account full of contributions.
Shocking maybe, but since leaving the gold standard domestically in ‘33 via FDR, federal taxes have definitely not been revenue because there was no longer a gold standard to defend.
