you can connect the drain also to the drain of the sink by using a junction. .the way you have done it is wrong because the drain should be level to prevent dirty water going back to the pipe
The dirty water drainage pipe connected to the back of the washer is way lower than the sink level so the drainage pipe cannot be fully emptied of last laundry's dirt water hence a stubborn fowl smell may begin to plague the machine

Does this machine develop a pungent smell after some time of use, especially when washing water is heated to say 40 degrees. I am asking this because doing so using regular hand wash detergent leaves the bucket with a pungent smell. Also, what are the remedies of this occurrence?
We did actually. It's as simple as finding a water inlet source and getting a valve to allow you to connect the washing machine inlet pipe. You'll also need drainage for the outlet so it's best to install it near a sink or balcony.

Ideally, yes; the drain should be level. Thankfully, the washer's drainage pump pushes out the water.

The machine is quite energy-efficient & doesn't use a lot of electricity. There's also no shaking and the noise isn't too loud when in use.

For the smell, try cleaning the machine. Dirt and mould can build up over time especially on the seal, detergent drawer and lint filter..
Put some vinegar and baking soda in it and do a run

It's a t-joint. It's available in most hardware stores huku Kenya. Don't forget to get a size that matches your water source so that it fits
