Fun trivia about Tyr. The gods were able to trap Fenrir by tricking him. They bet he wasn't strong enough to break some chains, if they bound him with them. He did so easily the first time. When they forged even stronger chains, he broke those too. But when they had Gleipnir forged, it appeared fine as a ribbon. Fenrir suspected something was off, and made them promise to release him if he couldn't break it. In order to make sure they held up their end of the bargain, Tyr offered to place his hand in Fenrir's mouth in an act of faith. When Fenrir couldn't break gleipnir, and the gods refused to release him, he bit off Tyr's hand. Nordic Champion Tyr's right hand appears to be missing in the cards artwork.

To elevate the fact that the Egyptian Gods are true gods, with seemingly extremely overpowered effects in the Anime, and together they summon Horakty (sorry if I spelled it wrong), winning the whole duel. While it’s cool that GX and 5D’s have their own resemblances of the 3 Gods, they are just resemblances and aren’t meant to copy the originals, and even the Gods themselves (Divine-Attribute/Divine Beast-Type) were made for the purpose of the lore. So yeah, it just fits what Konami wants to do, treating all cards are monsters for the purpose of the game. Also, if there would be a Type higher than all normal types but still below Divine, like ‘Supreme’ for example, the ‘Gods’ would definitely be in that Type or it could be a Category kind of thing, where it goes like [Supreme/Thunder/Synchro/Effect] then Supreme would just becomes a collection of powerful cards that all collectors want to have for themselves, not that ‘Supreme’ matters in actual gameplay, but it somewhat elevate the importance of these cards in the anime and be a weird kind of Rarity system, like ‘Supreme-Rare’.

Shout out to Loki who took one for the team in the story of his horse child. The story goes that one day a man turned up in Asgard and said to the gods that he could build them an amazing wall that would hold back the invasion of the giants. Considering this the gods asked what the catch was and he asked for Freya's hand in marriage once complete. This was naturally not okay seeing as Freya was the most beautiful of all and a god so one of the gods seeing and opportunity said that if he could build the entire wall that circled the realm Asgard in a single season them he can have Freya, a feat definitely not possible for the man to complete in a lifetime let alone a season and surprisingly the man reluctantly agrees and the next day he turns up with this magnificent stallion and starts moving enormous amounts of stone not possible for any mortal even the mightiest and the horse pulled even larger stone to where the man ponder the wall. Freya is pretty pissed at this point as she was often used in bartering. As the season went on he picked up his pace until the day before his completion where the gods demand to know how this was possible when he reveals his true form as a giant who was willing to betray his kind for Freya's hand. She is megapissed now and goes to the only person she knows who could salvage this and reluctantly Loki who as usual was off doing his own thing said he will think of something. The next morning before the midday deadline the giant needed only to drop the last stone into place and he whistled for his horse to bring the last block. He waits and waits but he never comes, furious he heads down to the block to find it abandoned, in desperation using his giant strength he pushed the block up to the wall but as the timer struck zero, he was unable to lift the block into place without his trusty steed. Furious beyond belief he accuses the gods of killing his horse only for the sound of hooves echo up the hill until his stallion was galloping with a spring in his step. He turned to the gods and said he will be taking Freya; big mistake. Having only been held back due to Odin giving his word which he would never break, all it took was a nod to Thor and in an instant the giant was gone, splattered into giblets and staining the pure white wall with the Giants own blood. The gods put the block in place and celebrated their victory and their own genius by implementing the time limit. Freya however knew better than it being luck that they had won but Loki does not return. 9 months later, he remerges and returns to Asgard and he doesn't look happy, a small foal happily trotting after him. Freya kept her request of him quiet as to not reveal his part in the deception as she knew that if anyone were to as mention where he had been or been doing they would surely meet their end no matter who they were. Tldr: to win the wager Loki had to let a giant magical horse fuck him, giving birth his horse baby himself. Top lad.

Fenrir, yyormungundor, and Hella were born from Loki when Loki had a one night stand with a magic horse named Slauguvir (I am deeply sorry for the spelling, was just going off my memory,) Also part of why Loki is sometimes included with the Aesir, is due to a vague tale mentioning that Odin had made a blood pact with the Jotun Loki
Fun fact: its possible Yggdrasil was named after the myth were Odin scarifices himself to himself to gain more knowledge and power. He did this my impaling himself onto Yggdrasil, Ygg is a name for Odin and drasil mean tree
Great review of the nordic related cards... it just could be great that includes a card that relates to Borr (Odin's Father) as some ultimate aesir god card (xyz, link ?? )
Konami usually don't print new cards for an archtype that has a background established in the anime, in the case of Aesir/nordic they gave us new nordic support but they probably won't print a new Aesir monster since in the anime there were only 3 (one for each member of team ragnarok)
One thing a lot of people don't get is that Norse gods are gods of more then just 1 thing, good example is the fact that we got like 3 war gods or something, if not more. Ones i remember anyway are Odin, Thor and Tyr.
There is a card so legendary that you can’t find it. Summon conditions: if your opponent controls - Thor and Odin, special summon kratos the destroyer of realms, if you do you win the duel.
If they ever get errata so their effects become quick effects or new versions(xyz, link, fusion) that give them their effects as quick effects, they would be so much better. Thor as a quick effect would be so good.

You missed a fact or 2. Thor's hammer handle is in the shape of the rune associated with Thor & the shaft of Odin's spear is shaped in a similar manner. I really love these archetype & trivia vids. Keep it up. Are you planning to do an archetype &/or trivia vid on the pendulum magicians?
Yay, a new Archetype video.♥
As a fan of norse mythology and this Archetype I'm very happy. ^^
You’ll be even happier since they got four new cards!
But those goats though. Must be eternally traumatized
"damage twig" could be a reference to the spear that loki put mistletoe on to trick Baldur's brother into killing Baldur
If they're planning to get god cards I hope they get lipian Greek god cards or something new about god cards we didn't see yet
To be more precise, Sleipnir is Loki's child... he was transformed into a mare and gave birth to Sleipnir!
will you ever do more archetype with stories behind them, seeing the prophesy and invoke archetype was really nice to imagine it in a D&D like campaign, I actually made some good NPCs thanks to you
Thor and Loki survived Ragnarok but then someone summoned The Mad Titan THANOS
damnn sonnn you watching marvel too much
Random fact
#1. In the sequel movie son of the mask, it was Loki (played by Alan Cumming) who made the mask
#2. In the Marvel comics, Santa Clause is real & also Asgadian. He lives in Elfheim
I think now i m ready for any new god of war game
I have been waiting for this Archetype for a while. Thank you
In Norse mythology dark elf was another name for dwarves, because the lived opposite to the light elves.
One forgotten Card in the Video is Gjallerhorn this is in the Nordic Myths the Horn of the God Heimdall with this he will Alert the gods that Ragnarök Begins and the effect this Card can only be activatet from the Gravejard equip it too an Aesir Monster and after 3 rounds after the playing of this Card deal burndamage equal to all your Monsters on the Field atk then banish this Card and all your Monsters
0:16 We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow
Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde and sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming
So glad I picked up this deck today! It was part of the Legendary Hero Deck box!
As a Swede, I find it both hilarious and awesome the way you pronounce those names.
lololol yeah i suck too
It's great how in Thor Love and Thunder, the included Tangrisnr and Tanjostir the goats that pull Thor's Chariot
fun fact: gotterdammerung means translated something like „dawn of the gods“ and is pretty much ragnarok
Fun fact btw Hel and Jormungandr and Fenrir aka (Vanargand) their final boss in 3 boktai gba series
The Solemn Trap card archetype is also connected to the Aesir, as the card Solemn Authority can only targets Aesir Monsters and makes them unable to be targeted by other card effects while it's on the field.
Damn Thor's waist is SNATCHED
I love hearing you talk and tell stories
Sam:today's sponsor is...
Me:Next you are gonna is Raid shadow legends.
Sam:... Is raid shadow legends.Nani?!
When i first started playing yugioh i always like the aiseirs and even tried to use them for a gimmick deck but failed.
You should quit ygo and start paying for RAID SHADOW LEGENDS BABY
You should quit saying ‘stupid abc’ things and start deleting the comment because this is after all a Yu-Gi-Oh channel so leave him alone
At least now you can make a Aesir god deck. Especially now since it got some new good support.
When he said laeveteinn all i could think of was chivalry of a failed knight
Loki and Thor are both supporting some supreme racks in their card arts. Yowza.
Make a junk archetype, or a synchron archetype.
No surrender, no retreat!
The funny thing if you translate the name of the Thor's goats. They translated to toothnasher and toothgrinder. And you thought this butchering his goats was werid
Can't wait for these to get erratas. We got robbed with the Aesir cards and their crummy effects. I love mythological cards and I want these as a deck.
Loki had more than 3 Children: Hel, Fenrir, Jörmungandr, Narfi, and Vali.
*And Sleipnir
I know that this channel is more based on Yu-Gi-Oh but I think that it could be fun seeing you play and talk about other card games.
Example: Cardfight Vanguard, Future card Buddyfight, ect...
Since they did a norse god, wonder if they will ever make taoist gods(Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liu Bei)and hindu gods(Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva)
Any thoughts on updating past videos? Ive subbed for about a year and have rewatched a few handful of videos, knowing they are so out of date.
I know this video is up to date, but its my 3rd rewatch and 12th video of the day, im typing in generals
Will absolutely update some of the old videos. I've updated a few old ones recently, more to come every now and then.
I like the trap mjollnir more than the one in Thor’s artwork. Loki is my fav Norse God
When you've played God of War and suddenly remember everything the game's story talked about
Thank Mimir.
Been waiting for so long for this vid
You should do a video on the Valkyrie archetype now as a follow-up to this one!
Honestly I love how they are depicted as a fan of norse mythology
Fun little bit of trivia with fenrir. Odin is told throigh like a fortune teller that fenrir will kill him amd the gods and ragnarok. So out kf fear he does this to him and tricks him in order for him to get chained up. But if he just been a friend of fenrir all of that probably wouldnt have happened and odin is sorta makin ragnarok happen instead of preventing it bc it cements fenrirs hatred for him
Fun fact in Norse legend the Aesir were born of a great horned oxen. Loki was born from the jotuns, who were born from the great Jotun Ymir.
Fun fact the 8 legged horse who is Loki's offspring was born from Loki
Loki is the mother
Why is that not in a marvel movie yet
Thank you for the Yuru Camp reference. 😂
Fun fact: its possible Yggdrasil was named after the myth were Odin scarifices himself to himself to gain more knowledge and power. He did this my impaling himself onto Yggdrasil, Ygg is a name for Odin and drasil mean tree
8:27 he also kind of adopted the kids after that
As someone who's read Magnus Chase, hearing Otis and Marvin's true names put a smile on my face
You know what's funny? When I first saw these guys on 5ds years ago, I kept imagining them as their marvel counterparts.
How Lumis and Umbra made it in to Duel Links. But Team Ragnarok has not, is beyond me.
One thing a lot of people don't get is that Norse gods are gods of more then just 1 thing, good example is the fact that we got like 3 war gods or something, if not more. Ones i remember anyway are Odin, Thor and Tyr.
15:22 oh my god Freyas is using cats to power her chariot that’s so cute X3
There is a card so legendary that you can’t find it. Summon conditions: if your opponent controls - Thor and Odin, special summon kratos the destroyer of realms, if you do you win the duel.
Thank you for listening to my request 😊😊
Till this day I still use them in duel links and legacy of duelist
If they ever get errata so their effects become quick effects or new versions(xyz, link, fusion) that give them their effects as quick effects, they would be so much better. Thor as a quick effect would be so good.
I wish they kept them as divine. Would have been great.
Me yelling to myself: IT'S TOR AND OODIN
I used this deck against my roommates Egyptian Gods and oh did it feel good
I was here to see how you'll say the name of the cards... I wasn't disappointed xd
Ah yes finally the great all father is a yugioh card
Talks about Gungnir, shows Cu Chuleinn throw GAE BOLG!! You, dear sir, didn't use Gungnir, because you missed your mark by a mere EIGHTHUNDRED KILOMETERS! Lancer and Gae Bolg are Irish, Gungnir is norse.
