I unironically jam out to this song.
Just for some context, while Flight if the Conchords is a real comedy music duo from New Zealand consisting of Jemaine Clement (the guy with the glasses) and Bret McKenzie (the guy who c*ck blocked Jemaine in this video), this particular clip is from their HBO show.
The show was on for 3 seasons and it basically follows Bret and Jemaine (same first names, different last names in the show), after they’ve left New Zealand to go to the U.S to “make it” with their band Flight of the Conchords. Except, in the show, they take their music super SUPER seriously. They don’t consider it comedy. They have the worst, but most relentlessly upbeat manager ever, who is also from New Zealand and is utterly hilarious.
They’re also hopeless and completely co-dependent. Like, they do everything together. In this clip, not only did Bret have no concept of social etiquette when Jemaine was trying to seal the deal, but what makes it even worse (and funnier) is how completely clueless and unbothered Jemaine is that Bret followed him on his whole date and back to their shared apartment, knowing Jemaine was trying to get some. I think they both made the girl feel incredibly uncomfortable, but the light turning on at the worst possible moment was the last straw.
In real life, these two are great friends but have each had very successful careers on their own. However, every once in a while, they reunite as Flight of the Conchords and release an album or tour. They’ve been at it for over 20 years. I’m so glad you’re checking them out. I’d DEFINITELY recommend the HBO show to watch on your own OR react to. I’d love to see you continue reacting to their live stuff too. ❤️
I've been in love with The Conchords for so long, and after years and years I love that Rhys Darby has finally gotten his flowers. I know that Taika Waititi is only a part of the kiwi wave, but projects like Wilderpeople, Shadows, and JoJo Rabbit combined with mainstream Hollywood have had such an incredible impact on America's attitude toward subtle absurdity. I just love everything New Zealand contributes.

Jemaine Clement also plays the artist wildman romantic rival opposite Paul Rudd in Dinner For Schmucks. Another animation role of his is the balding villain cuckatoo Nigel in Rio 1 and 2.
Bret MacKenzie (the roommate) won an Oscar for his musical work on one of the more recent Muppet Movies (The one with Amy Adams in it, the actress most recognizable as Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill's Superman.
He is also on the boat in the latest Avatar

This skit was from their HBO series Flight of the Conchord and they were kind of nerdy guys, but not in a conventional way, more in that they didn't really have a clue, naive nerdiness, and Brett interrupting the date was so classic of the characters. That was part of the humor.
But, I like your reaction to these guys. I would love hanging out with you. And you have a great voice, too.
Bret (backup singer) wasnt hating, Jermaine (lead singer) broke bro code and tried hooking up with Bret's ex without checking if it was cool first.
It might be partly that but also mainly about the situation with the light

You can’t watch random clips from the show and then try to talk about the plot and the actions because you don’t know the characters. The series was brilliant and Bret was not a hater, they’re just completely naïve and innocent about everything, and always completely honest (which is what makes the song so funny with all the qualifiers like depending on the street and you could be a part-time model but you’d probably have to keep your real job)
