I have to disagree with that first part- look at the prevalence and dominance of inversion and roll-based moves in sport jujitsu. Other than that, I'm your biggest fan; I learned a lot of these moves from your videos and books and gained an incomparable edge in my rolling. Your technical, analytic approach to systema is beautiful and refreshing. Regards.
All things being equal, I prefer the crucifix roll because it keeps the hands out and pointing away from the body, causes the greatest distribution of force through the contact of the arms and shoulder transfer and allows for the most control of speed and direction. The other three variations are driven by context.
I agree. As someone who trains in both Systema and Parkour, what Kevin is explaining here more efficient and safer. Integrating it into Parkour is beneficial.
He uses his shoulder as a ricochet point to deflect his opponents strike while shielding his jaw. The whole thing prevents a 90 degree impact on critical zones.
He is skillful and knows how to explain in great detail, I would love to be his student
