Also Cuba has a national bus service just for tourist that's super cheap to use. just $26 to go from Havana to Santiago de Cuba. I used it to go all over the island from Vinales to Baracoa
Yes but none at this time for the cuban people due to the fact that there is no Petro because cuban government is bankrupt and although huge ships are in the Havana harbor with the fuel...communist government of cuban cannot pay so it's sitting there. Google it😊
Being a doctor in Cuba is like being a teacher ... a public service, not a place to get rich ... because everyone deserves healthcare and to be educated (Cuba also has one of the highest literacy rates in the world 👍🏽).
It's true that being a doctor in Cuba is a public service, and that's what makes it so special. Everyone should have access to quality healthcare and education!
Very true everyone deserves health care. However the cuban people receive no care. Not even balances...no meds at all no insulin nor anesthesia. Bare cupboards at pharmacy. You two need to do better research. Please tell me where you get your info...cause it's pure bull 1:58
Actually quite far from it. They are treated like prisoners in their own country and are not paid anything close to a living wage. I would know, my husband is a surgeon and his salary was about $35/month. No Cuban can provide for their family with that.. On top of that, most specialists and surgeons are regulated and cannot leave the country (essentially a no fly list) and it doesn't even matter if they have a visa or passport from another country. It takes years for them to get the same basic rights as a citizen in a half decent country. Cuba is beautiful, but you cannot have that opinion about their medical field if you haven't lived it, sorry.
@shellybellyluv Cubas economic turmoil is directly correlated to the colonial oppression America has inflicted upon them. 99% of the UN agrees that Cuba needs humanitarian and economic aid. Nothing is being done for them because of America. The government cannot provide suitable living conditions for their people because there is no money. They are not allowed to sell to nearly the entire world. What do you think, a doctor is gonna make 100k a year out of thin air? Who's supposed to foot his salary? Communism and the Cuban government are not the issue. Even JFK was willing to open talks with Castro and look at what they did to him and nobody has tried since.
My family are half Cuban and half Jamaican. But I do not really know my Cuban side, as my grandfather escaped from Cuba to Jamaica, where he met my grandmother. @@malichicu Do you have any recommendations for places to stay in Havana, Cienfuegos, Matazanas, Trinidad? What are your thoughts on using Agencia Viazul buses between cities? Airbnb for casa particulares?
@AmbassadorGus I do not recommend Viazul, specially at this time with the gas and fuel shortage. You want to have transportation arranged ahead of your arrival. AirBnB is a great choice for booking your stay, and your host can help coordinate your transportation, money exchange, etc.
As a Canadian who has visited Cuba often (not the resorts) may I say your video is accurate and informative, as to the general information. We have it so easy. Our Canadian banks cards function there. All of cell phones companies have interchange with ETECSA. There are many farmers markets where fresh, mostly organic due to the lack of fertilizers and pesticides, fruits and vegetables are available. The tobacco farmers must sell their tobacco NOT the rolled cigars to the government. Good work. Cheers from Canada.
I am from Canada as well, Cuba is very accessible to us. I really liked how sensitive and positive your vlog was and is a support to tourism in Cuba. All I see is people complaining about their travels in their vlogs about lack of amenities, but it's the attitude you bring that will make you enjoy a place.
Great video! I went to Cuba (under “support the Cuban people). The first day,we were introduced to their “system”…we couldn’t buy water or snacks at a local store w/o the local gov’t card. We take so much for granted that it is truly an experience. Thks Chews!❤

We would like to go to Cuba. We were there in 2019 on a cruise. It was nice to stay on the ship with great food. I’m a little worried about good food and lodging. Thanks for all the information!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your support and I'm glad that my hard work is inspiring you. Wishing you a happy new year too!
Hello, and thank you for the video. My wife and I just started looking into visiting Cuba a couple of days ago, and I am a little confused about a couple of things you mentioned. I am in contact with a Cuban tour company that has set up an itinerary for our visit, and they have hotels and restaurants included in the stay. You stated we cannot stay in hotels or eat at restaurants, but the tour has us doing both. They even bring you to two beaches, and say to bring your beach clothes, which means swimming while we are there. Is this video (your experience) for people traveling as individuals? Or are you saying even on scheduled tours, you cannot do these things? Thanks again, I'm going to watch your Everything You Need to Know video next.
I was at the Santa Clara Airport in January and there were 3 scheduled flights from Miami the day we were leaving. I never changed any of our Canadian dollars for pesos because the Canadian dollar and credit cards are accepted everywhere. You may be able to buy a cuban sim card and it comes with its own phone number...
@@Sammiami23Hi! I wouldn't recommend you to come here alone unless you have a certain level of Spanish to get yourself around. Get a map app on your phone to go to places and try to review as much as you can about prices and money exchange rate. It's very likely to get overcharged if you don't know these things. I would recommend you to make contact with a Cuban to take you to places and take care of you. When my boyfriend came in June (he's american) I would help him with transportation, food and everything because most of the time people tried to overcharge us. Also as a single woman you will be likely to have men whistling and trying to flirt with you all the time. Sadly that's how it is for Cubans women as well. You won't feel in danger I think but it's important to be cautious, with your belongings, your phone, wallet and try to be back home before it's too dark ❤ I hope I'm not scaring you 0:02
I went to Cuba last May and stayed at a hotel in a resort and they did not have any shortcomings that you mentioned in the video. Food was in plenty and so was the wi-fi . There was only a shortage in butter and foreign liquor .So if you go for an "all inclusive stay " you are practically okay. However your video applies to the people who do not stay in these hotels and resorts but who travel on their own staying at air B&B's and also to the backpacking tourists. I noticed that most of the staff in the hotels were all dressed well in nice clothes when they were going home and I wondered from where they had all these nice shoes and handbags ! I don't think that they get all these from the tourists. Maybe they can buy them in the black market. So I guess there are some luxuries in Cuba. BTW if you guys are from the US how did you manage to go to Cuba as I thought that USA does not permit their citizens to go to Cuba ? Like to know about it .
Thank you so much for watching our video and supporting our channel. This video is for Americans as we are allowed to visit but not support any government run hotels or restaurants. So we cannot stay in hotels or all inclusive as you mentioned in your comment. We have to stay in local accommodations to support the cuban people so that is why our experience as Americans is completely different. Thanks again for your perspective.
Great tip! That will absolutely save on the visa but we have to fly to Toronto but will still have all the other restrictions. So if the flight is less than $100 it is worth it
Hi, my sweetheart and I love your videos! We are both in the “65 and over” age range and are about to travel to Cuba ( this time to Trinidad) for our second trip. We are both on a fixed income and your budget tips are very helpful. Thank you for that! I have 2 questions. Do you have any cautions about the water/ ice in cuba? I noticed the consumption of beverages with ice and veggies ( typically washed in the local water)in your videos. Also, you stated that an American can bring in cigars for personal use only. In June of 2022 we went to Vinales Valley, bought five cigars, but customs at Ft Lauderdale airport stopped us and confiscated the cigars. They said it is absolutely not permitted. Any thoughts?
Thank you so much for checking out our video and supporting our channel. I personally only drink bottled water so I did not have any issues. Now that I think about it I ate the vegetables however majority of them were pickled for preservation. There were not a lot of fresh produce. However, if i consume any it did not bother me during the trip. Also we brought about 10 cigars home and did not have any problems. That is my experience.
Lol at the Tekken reference!!! I actually discovered capoeira through Eddy 😂😂😂 Humor aside, now that I know a little bit about the country's situation I really feel for their people 😞 Going at the end of June.
sites are not blocked by Cuba, they are blocked by the providers in the US. I connected to blocked sites by using my cell data which is provide by my carrier but I'm Canadian so that helps I doubt any us phone companies allow roaming but for sure a vpn would work if you use it to represent a different country other than cuba. Happy Browsing!
That's a great point! It's interesting how different providers and countries can affect access to certain websites. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for the support to our channel. We brought cigars back and had no issue. At the farm they told us that they have to be from the farmers and not the government and they have to be unmarked
Thanks for watching and checking out our video. Heres our entire video on our experience ruclips.net/video/9MM6X_c98tA/видео.html . Are you American? As Americans you cannot stay in hotels and eat at government restaurants. Maybe there are more local restaurants in Varadero?
Honestly it depends on what you guys are planning to do, where you want to eat and if you plan to go to other cities. I would recommend booking accommodations beforehand though. In our guide we have drivers, activities, food recommendations, and accommodations that you should check out as well. chewstoexplore.com/product/explore-cuba-travel-guide/ We prepaid everything and spent under $600/pp including flights. We have our full video coming out where you can see our experience as well
I have a question about the itinerary. Do i have to write down our type up on a computer of everything in going to do in Cuba? Or can i just tell the costums border at the airport what I'm doing? And also do the events have to fill all day every day or can i just tell them i have an event planned for 1 day and the rest of the days in going to be supporting locals?
Based on our experience no one asked for an itinerary. We had our own itinerary based on what we planned to do. However, I cannot tell you what they are looking for.
Please know that if you state that you are "supporting the Cuban people", US customs will automatically tag you to search ALL your luggage and confiscate all cigars and rum. This happened to me mid April 2023. Maybe state another reason?
Thanks for watching my video and supporting. I put supporting the Cuban people and none of that happened to me in january. Maybe it has changed but I didnt see anybody that happened to even my friends who traveled with me and did the same. Im sorry that happened to you. Also I got Cuban Cigars from the cuban people and they were unbranded because the branded ones are government cigars. I got it from the cuban people
Thank you so much for checking out our video and supporting. I spoke with our guide and she said your best bet is to give it to people you see on the street because if you bring it to an organization it might go back to the government and not to the people who need it the most
When you travel to Cuba you sign a document for "support for cuban people"? Do they give a copy for record ?What Control Border Patrol Officer ask when you enter back to the US? Im a green card holder so im a little nervous of going thete. Anyways Im going to Cuba on March 1st through Monterrey , Mexico
If you are going through monterrey you shoul dnot have any issues. But people in cuba do not care at all. i did not have any issue with the US system either. Nobody caused any issues with me through the entire process
@ChewsToExplore thanks a lot but my question is do CBP agent ask where I have been ? I mean I have to say I went to Cuba? And thanks a lot for responding your videos are so helpful
You mentioned that cars are older...yes, American cars have not been imported since the Revolution. What bills are the best to carry? 20s? 50s? For example, In India, the $1100 bill is the king. You get the best rate for Benji.
Thanks for watching and supporting our channel. From our experience it does not matter. What ever you have, they are greatly appreciative of
Hello, and thank you for the video.
Great video! I am planning on visiting Cuba next month
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! We had an amazing time and I hope you do as well!
VPN works fine I used them to book AirBNB during my trip to CUBA
Yes this is true, we did not use one but we know people have good things to say about it
Thanks for sharing your tips in such a unique way.
Glad you like them!
Cool Video! Looking forward to my trip
Thanks for watching and supporting our channel! We truly appreciate all of the kind words. I hope you have a great trip
Thank you for this. So much misinformation on travels to Cuba.
Glad it was helpful! That is why we create videos for you guys!
I love how informative the video is and I love y'alls vibe omg
Glad you enjoyed the video and got something from it. We try to make all our content beneficial for all. I hope you have a great trip!
@@ChewsToExplore thank youu! You make great content 🤍🤍
Thanks for the support and information. Canada is a lot different than with the united states. However, the cuban sim would work there.
I’m not American, but I have a U.S. credit card. My card worked when I visited Cuba.
So happy that you were not limited by that, thank you for the information
I'm cuban and I live in Havana. You explained everything perfectly, thank you so much ♥️🙏🏼
Thank you so much for the kind words and support to our channel. I'm happy you found the video good!
Hi. I'm a single woman. Can I feel safe to travel alone.
You won't feel in danger I think but it's important to be cautious, with your belongings, your phone, wallet and try to be back home before it's too dark ❤ I hope I'm not scaring you 0:02
I never travel around Cuba only went 2 times and always in resorts ❤
Thank you, as an American we are not legally allowed to do that. It would have been a cool trip but we loved our experience none the less.
Really insightful
Thanks for watching, I'm happy you found it insightful!
I want to go to Brazil for the carnaval next year!!
Man that would be a dream! I hope to go as well
Bro, you brought it back with that Tekken reference! 😂😂😂
Haha you know i had to keep it real bro
Great Info. I need to get this guide!
Thank you so much for the continued support on our channel! There is a wealth of information there for when you go to Cuba!
@@ChewsToExplore Thank you for your response. So now I know the difference between the American tourists and Canadian tourists.
Thank you so much for a clear and very informative video. This video gives lot of really good information. Gracias!
We are so happy that you enjoyed our video and hope it helps you for whenever you go to Cuba. Glad you enjoyed it!
Did you book an AirBnB experience? Who did you book through for excursions if not?
Just to be clear the cc and debt card being useless bothers me. Nice videos
Yes I agree, but thats why we made the video so you can have a great time in Cuba
If you wanna go to Cuba, just fly to Toronto first, no visa needed.
Great information
Thank you for the support to our channel. Glad it was useful
I'm here doing an investigation about how ytbers see Cuba... I wasn't expecting to see Eddy Gordo here... I think I screamed
Haha thank you!
Lol at the Tekken reference!!! I actually discovered capoeira through Eddy 😂😂😂
Humor aside, now that I know a little bit about the country's situation I really feel for their people 😞 Going at the end of June.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's great to see how games can spark interests in real-life activities. Safe travels in June!
sites are not blocked by Cuba, they are blocked by the providers in the US.
Thanks for the tips
Glad it was helpful to you
Loved this video great job
Glad you enjoyed
You mentioned the $100 limit on cigars and rum. Did you actually bring some back. I heard that was reversed a couple years back
Thanks for the support to our channel. We brought cigars back and had no issue. At the farm they told us that they have to be from the farmers and not the government and they have to be unmarked
Thank you guys! This was very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The video is great but in most restaurants do have menu but in most good restaurants food are not that cheap
Thank you so much for checking out my video and supporting. The places that I went did not but it depends on the ones you visit.
Now you can rent sim cards with some data and calls and sms
Thanks for this information!
Nice rundown. I dont agree at all about the food. I stayed in Vedado. Which area did you guys stay?
Thanks for watching and checking out our video. Heres our entire video on our experience ruclips.net/video/9MM6X_c98tA/видео.html . Are you American? As Americans you cannot stay in hotels and eat at government restaurants. Maybe there are more local restaurants in Varadero?
Im going to Cuba very soon. What is the name of the Calle where they do the Capoeira at noon? Is there an intersection or address?
Question: How did yall find the taxi's, is there a particular area to go if you are downtown havana?
you will see them where ever you go. They are all around
Thank you for the tips 🙏🏻
Happy to help!
Hi! Great video 🎉
How much cash would you estimate or recommend for a 5 day stay for a couple? I just need an idea if possible. Thank you in advance!
We have our full video coming out where you can see our experience as well
$1000 for everything (after flight) if you stay in one place
What about the power outage? Do hotels also have it?
I am not sure exactly about hotels
I have a question about the itinerary. Do i have to write down our type up on a computer of everything in going to do in Cuba? Or can i just tell the costums border at the airport what I'm doing? And also do the events have to fill all day every day or can i just tell them i have an event planned for 1 day and the rest of the days in going to be supporting locals?
Based on our experience no one asked for an itinerary. We had our own itinerary based on what we planned to do. However, I cannot tell you what they are looking for.
Did you have to purchase travel insurance for emergency ?
Thank you so much for the kind words and support to our channel. It is included in the purchase of your ticket!
♥️ Beautiful Blessings
Thank you for all the support to our channel!
I got it from the cuban people
Sounds good.But I pass on Cuba 😞
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Everyone has their own preferences, and I appreciate your honesty.
How much cash would you recommend per person per day?
Check out our full video of our trip with a price breakdown ruclips.net/video/9MM6X_c98tA/видео.html
Is it easy to find schools or places I can take things I want to gift kids there?
Before Castro Cuba use to have the same Cuban food like the U.S. & more.
Thank you, yes i wish the food we had was better on this trip!
Before Castro, or before US sanctions? There's a significant difference.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Are Americans allowed to go to the beaches in Cuba?
Thank you so much, in our next video we will show you our experience in Cuba. We went to 2 separate beaches and had no problem there
You mentioned that cars are older...yes, American cars have not been imported since the Revolution. Our first trip in 2010 was to see these cars as Obama was suggesting the embargo would be lifted and Cuba would become like every place else, overrun by McDonalds and etc. But our biggest surprise is Cuba has most every Japanese, German etc cars...brand new. A Mercedes taxi driven by a former policeman because he made more $ .....
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's always fascinating to hear about people's surprises and discoveries when traveling.
