As a CMDR that has recently been on a massive mat grind I'll add this this very good tute, Imperial Shielding drops like candy so unless you need it for a specific task, trade it all down so you can scoff up another 100. I also found a very neat trick that enables you to drop straight back into the signal with nothing more than pitch, you kill your throttle before your ship's computer says "engage" and select the unknown signal, pitch up to align and drop out of hyper cruise. Also be aware that the hard exit to desktop required to exploit this method is time sensitive, I went for dinner thinking my signal would still be there and it had long gone.
This is all good info, but nothing your average CMDR doesn't already know. Right now, during the war, High Grade materials can be farmed much easier by simply running rescue missions in invaded systems. They are GIVING THEM AWAY with NO rep grind. With a python boarding 140 econ passengers I average 25-30 HGM per run. Takes longer to board the passengers than it does to run to Tarach Tor. You touched on it briefly in your Thargoid War Logistical Missions video-but didn't really show how it trumps the traditional method-at least for now.
I outfitted a python for this task and it's now a much more difficult proposition. If your python is not already engineered up its going to catch hell from thargoid hyperdictions. Lost several mill rebuying a python several times because thargoid hyperdictions will put you in an instance with several thargoid craft that pierce shields AND they fire a missile that can shut down your frame shift drive. Also had to pay several fines because even when I survived the trip, I would frequently lose passengers to the thargoid version of hatch breaker limpets. Warning: do not run a basic bitch passenger python for this with most of your internals devoted to passenger slots, you will get destroyed. You want one with high shields, engineered thrusters, high hull, and the ability to reboot its FSD fast so an engineered FSD as well. This is just one of many farms where in order to get engineering materials, you must already have a pretty well-engineered ship.
@@neocav1 Yup. I'm not commenting because you immediately need this knowledge now. I'm commenting in case anybody watching this video in 2024 sees your comment and thinks to himself "I can do that!" and then gets hyperdicted by thargoids 6x trying to do it himself and dies repeatedly and disgracefully. Note: that was pretty much exactly what I did lol.
There's also exploit for signal sources systems you mentioned in one of your previous videous the one, where you exit the game after collecting all the materials in present instance would be nice for more cmdrs to know this, to reduce grind
I have one burning question! The little trick I used 2 years ago where I could exit the game after collecting all materials from a high grade emissions location, then load back in and recollect from same spot. Has that been eliminated from the game?
No, but it has been made redundant by the recent engineering rebalance. All high grade emissions now hand out enough mats to fill your G5 storage in one or two drops.
Best tutorial on Material Trading in Elite Dangerous by far! Very organized and to the point. Thank you so much!!

as another CMDR that has just started the mat grind, thank you as up to date information is very important and hard to find for this game
Damn....Elite Dangerous is (sometimes) a very fun game but it's also *SO complex!* 😵💫

@@VortexMagus Very Well CMDR. See you in the black.
I was hoping for an explaination about how to find high grades. I flew arround systems for hours and didn't even see one......

I've saw improvised component few times. But never saw pharmaceutical isolators. o7
