- On the morning of October 7, Hamas launched a series of coordinated attacks targeting Israeli civilians.
At around 6.30am, rockets were spotted at the Nova music festival, an open-air weekend-long trance rave.
What followed was a massacre; the largest terror attack in Israel’s history, and would see the start of the war with Hamas.
The News Movement's Correspondent Lucy Marley travelled to the site where 364 civilians were killed with many more missing - meeting people who survived the attack and the people trying to help them heal.

Thanks for watching our film - we wanted to tell this story because we know that lots of people can relate to what it feels like going to a festival and dancing with your friends, but what is unimaginable is that party becoming a terror attack. We wanted to speak to the people that were there, whose loved ones have been taken hostage and to the people who are helping them heal to understand what it was like. In my military Training in europ, I learned that in the event of an attack by our neighbors, the strategy is to push the enemy back approximately 80 kilometers into their own territory. Subsequently, we establish a buffer zone on their land up to our border and remain there until a peace agreement is reached. However, what I don't understand is why settlements are built in this buffer zone or in the conquered area. Can someone explain that to me? This is the reason why many people lack empathy towards Israel, and this policy should be changed quickly.

It was a Military defeat, they are taking it out on the rest.

The mostly unarmed civilians were simply waking up at a music festival or in their homes closest to the border. Hamas knew the majority wouldn't be soilders there, yet they were Hamas's first and main targets. If they weren't, why were Hamas ordered to commit r....pe, and vile disgusting inhumane acts against women and children?
You saying those victims were simply war collateral is both laughable and pathetic. Hamas targeted Israeli police and soldiers so those soldiers couldn't protect civilians. Thousands more innocent civilians would've been butchered and tortured by Hamas if IDF hadn't stepped in.
Plus, those soldiers weren't engaging in combat. It's mandatory that they train for two years by a certain age, and it's to protect Israel from terrorists. Unlike Hamas militants joining Hamas from their own free will because of a radical Jihad mentality and because they were offered thousands of dollars and free apartments to kill and maim babies, families and pleasure themselves sadistically towards women.

I’m 48. I used to go to raves in my 20s. Yes. I would do a lot of psychedelics. The experience was amazing. The unity. The fun of celebrating life, being young and carefree. I cannot imagine going’ through that tripping balls. Omg.

I'm 41. When I was 17, went to a rave and did ecstasy and was in a bad car accident later that night. It doesn't even come close to what these young folks experienced but I still remember looking in mirror in hospital, still high, at my unrecognizable broken face. It was a collision of two realities. I imagine it is like that for them but 100x worse.

I used to work for races where they would pack 5-6 thousand people in our club and we didn’t serve any alcohol. The had DJ’s from all over the world. The most amazing light shows. I cannot for one second imagine hundreds of terrorist making there way into a place like that. It would just be a slaughter because almost everyone would be on ecstasy, and lots of other things, for anyone that hasn’t taken ecstasy, it literally makes you feel like you love everyone and everything. However, the reason why it is easy for a lot of ppl to still dismiss Hamas as a terrorist group is because of things like their charter that reeks of anti-Jewish hate and radical Islam. Perhaps if Hamas was able to switch things up and instead represent more the Palestinian cause, then they can garner more support for Palestinian ppl and their aspirations for a two state solution. Two state because I still believe Israel has a right to their homeland of ancient Judea. Needless to say, if the IDF did not have their iron dome, they’d likely be dealing with a lot of loss of life as the Gazans have. My understanding about Nova festival is that those young people were not partying to show disrespect to anybody, it was just a celebration of loveand friendship. In hindsight yes, I partially agree with you, they shouldn't have a party so close to Gaza border, knowing what savages live there.

Few years back, my muslim neighbour mom passed away on xmas day. We didnt light up our trees and house. We didnt even invite friends and relatives over for bbq on new year. I'm a Nova surviver I was on MDMA I was on my come down from the drug I was brutally raped by two terrorists, luckily they were gunned down by Israeli soldiers and I was saved. The thought that "allahu akbar" has anything to do with religion is absolutely insane to me!! I went to different electronic festivals like this one, as Ozora in Hugary where many participants are israelis people. When you are dancing on the music in a good mood, sharing the moment with others, you can't imagine that such a dramatic event could occur just right now. I was really in choc when I saw the news and so sad for my brothers and sisters of our electronic music tribe, even more because I know that people who go to this kind of festival are generaly peacefull and open minded persons, very far awy from extremists people. It's so unfair and so dreadful. 😔

About a million years ago, when i was young, an optimistic, I would drop a tab, or mushroom at a Grateful Dead concert and know that for the next 10 hours my people will cradle me in safety. Believe it or not, somewhere back in June or July whilst watching TV and the ongoing protest in Israel against the Prime Minister's law reforms, something told me that there's danger lurking in the dark for Israel. I was worried that night but that notion slipped away and couldn't do anything until the October 7 events began to unfold that it had occurred to me that this bad thing was something of it. Even though I'm saddened by this to this day, that I wasn't able to pass that notion of something going bad to happen to Israel. I'm utterly bewildered as to if I'd by chance discussed the matter with someone and then there was a different outcome than now. Would things get better for Israel or worse!
