Coffee Crawl: Croatia - Split, Trogir, Zagreb, Rovinj

I was fortunate enough to spend a few weeks traveling around Croatia in July of 2022. Though this coastal country isn’t particularly popular for its specialty coffee scene, I did find a few great spots along the way. I learned the difference between a flat white and a cappuccino (Croatian flat white has 2 shots, capp has 1 - crucial info when you're doing a 3-shop coffee crawl!). Also Croatian milk is SO DELICIOUS. I was drinking capps and flat whites nearly every chance I got.
This isn’t an exhaustive list of Croatian Specialty Coffee by any means. I was on a tight schedule and wasn’t traveling explicitly for coffee, so my trip didn't completely revolve around finding the best spots. But I had a great time exploring this beautiful, historic, sea-side country, especially these shops I checked out…

A few other spots that were recommended to me include Cogito (multiple locations), Quahwa (Zagreb), and kava2 (Split). I have a coffee roaster friend in Motuvun I didn't have the chance to hang out with (hey TJ!). I also didn’t have the chance to experience Turkish coffee or much of the traditional Croatian coffee culture - sitting at a café all afternoon long. I guess I’ll have to go back and explore more Croatian coffee!
