this is the exact kind of video I'm looking for. before buying a book especially online, you really want to see how it looks like closer and inside. :) thank you!
So jealous! Every time I go into B&N and see these I just want to buy them all. I was actually just given my first one as a gift, the Hemingway collection, and love it. There's something about the feel of a leather-bound book that makes it 10,0000 times better than a normal book. At least.
Agreed, I love leather-bound books. :) The Hemingway one is beautiful! I haven't read any of his books yet, but I really want to get around to reading them eventually.
Three years ago I got two of the leather bound edition books for Christmas, one was the Sherlock Holmes book from a friend, and the other was the Jules Verne book from my parents. I read a lot of the Sherlock Holmes books from paperbacks that I collected over the years so it was nice to have everything all in one book. The Jules Verne stories I've read are journey to the Center of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea.
Thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful for deciding which books i should buy and there are a lot of versions that i didn't see in other videos. They are SO beautiful!
Meliza Virgen Thank you! My parents actually had them made for me. I love them so much. Unfortunately, my family is moving, so they will have to stay with the old house.
Thank you so much for showing the fonts in these! I'm in the US, but the nearest B&N is about 2.5 hours away, so I don't visit often and I've only seen a couple of the leatherbound classics in person before. I've thought about ordering a couple of these online, so this was very helpful and I really appreciate it :)
I have the Complete Edition of The Bros. Grimm Fairy Tales & the Entire Lovecraft Mythos. Every time I invite my bookworm friends over to show them off, the inside covers with the owl in the forest & Cthulhu (respectively) freaks them out. 😂

Hi ! Thank you so much for your review, im from Brazil and fortunately there are many nacional stores that sells the leatherbound classics for almost the same price as in B&N. Thanks to you I'll buy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare!
Thanks for this video! I live in the Netherlands and it really helped me make my choices regarding the purchase of these books. The easiest way to purchase these particular book series in the Netherlands is via online (Dutch) book stores. Already purchased the ones concerning Edgar Allan Poe and Jules Verne. Some books are somewhat harder to come by, I have recently had to purchase The Complete Sherlock Holmes and Five Novels by Charles Dickens through the online Barnes & Noble store. There are however, two downsides to purchasing these books this way. One is that it will take a long time before the books will arrive at my house. And second is that I will have to pay some additional taxation fees once the books are delivered. I am sorry for the long comment. I just wanted to take the time to at least comment and also say thanks for making this video. It's the least I could do considering you put also quite some time into making it. Also disregard any bad grammar, I am from the Netherlands after all! :)
The B&N Leather bound classics are awesome. I have Black Beauty in the leather storybook cover. The Hans Christian Anderson book is amazing. You have some beautiful books. I also like your book shelves they look great!
I love them. I haven't read Black Beauty in a long time, but I really enjoyed it when I read it as a child. Thank you so much! I've been rearranging my bookshelves a lot lately to deal with the disastrous influx of books that I've been buying. haha ;/
Great video. I have about 10 of these so far, my favorites being Jurassic Park, the original blue version of the Iliad and the Odyssey and the Count of Monte Cristo. Probably going to pick up a few more of these. Glad to hear positive things about Bullfinch's Mythology, I was looking into that one and Le Morte d'Arthur.
The Adventuring Bookworm Very excited to read Le Morte d'Arthur. I'm just finishing Dune first. The version of the Iliad and the Odyssey that I have is the Butler version. I had picked it up to pregame a study abroad in Greece and Italy that I did during law school. Never read the Fagles version, but I thought the Butler version was excellent.

all beautiful editions :) I am trying to collect them too. So far I have four: Alice in Wonderland, Hans Christian Andersen, Fairytales Around the World, and the Arabian Nights
The Arabian Nights one is so beautiful, but I feel guilty about getting it since I already have 2 copies of it (different translators though). Maybe I will still get it someday though. It is quite tempting! :)
Many Thanks for showing your amazing leather-bound book collection. As a lover of books I found your video totally fascinating. Also it was very nice and helpful of you to show the font sizes of these books and to indicate other versions in hard backed cover ie Penguin for instance which have individual copies of Jane Austin's novels in a larger font. Hope you have managed to put your books in a nice safe place. Having run out of shelve space I have now resorted to my clothes wardrobe shelve and taken out some of my clothes and put my books on the shelve provided!!
I have The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Other Novels by Mark Twain. I got it for rm18 which is equal to less than $3. Crazy deal and its brand new. I got it from a huge book annual book sale we have here in Malaysia. So happy to see it there. Now im planning on getting Aesop, Hans and Grimm's. At full price 😭 its so expensive.
Thanks for the fantastic video! Question - do you think the gilding or designs on the covers will come off over time or from holding the book? What about shelf wear on the bottom of the book?
The bottoms of the books seem very sturdy against wear. The gilding and designs - I don't know. They seem like they would stay, but as I have not had any of these for over a year, it is hard for me to say for sure. But they seem like they would be long-lived and difficult to rub off. I hope that helps!

Your collection is awesome! Just one question; I own the Jane Austen edition and find the font a bit to small for my taste. I am now doubting about purchasing the Sherlock Holmes edition and was wondering if you could tell me if the font is the same size as the Austen book?
Hi, I am so sorry that I didn't see your comment until now. I might be too late to respond, but I think the font is the same size for the Austen and Sherlock so you may want to skip this edition of Sherlock.
These editions are gorgeous. I have the leatherbound edition of Jane Eyre and the last page has a copy of Charlotte Brontes signature and I was wondering if any of the others have something similar?
I don't think that they do, although I haven't read to the last page of all of them. The Jane Eyre one is one of the slightly differently designed ones with the pretty metallic band on the side and the colored edges - I love those, but I don't have any of them. Maybe the signature is specific to the ones of that design? Not sure. Some of the ones I have, I can say definitively that they probably do not have a signature - I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure we don't have a copy of Plato's signature :)
The only book I have in this edition is Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales, although I plan on getting Hans Christian Andersen's Classic Fairy Tales to got with it (I absolutely love fairy tales).
+Helle Bartelsen Indeed they do.:D I saw the Sherlock Holmes one in a Bog & Idé here in Aarhus, Immediatly shelled out the 300 kr.(45 USD) because holy moly it's beautiful.
Thank you for such a helpful video! But I was wondering if you could tell me if that copy of Dune includes the appendices on Dune's culture, terminology lexicon, map, etc. like some of the paperbacks do?
Hey I have a question I want to buy "The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and other books but i heard some complains that the alien thingy in the front cover of the book is actually a sticker and be easily removed , is it true ?? Although the book is cheap and I think its worth it any way but I live in italy and am going to have to pay alot for the shipping so I dont want to buy a book that turns out to be a disappointment.
It isn't made of the same material as the rest of the cover, but on mine at least it seems to be very strongly attached and not like it would come off easily. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
It was a great video. Thank you for being so humble. I am sorry I couldn't understand the substitute of Austen's book. Could you please repeat? Penguin classics?
Thanks! They are the Penguin cloth-bound classics. Each novel is bound individually, so you don't have as huge of a book with tiny font. :) www.penguin.com/static/pages/classics/hardcoverclassics/
I ordered 7 of them the other day but they are expected to ship on the 27th... luckily I still have other books to read so it isn't a big problem just sucks because I still have some books to read.
The Adventuring Bookworm Hans Christian Andersen's Classic Fairy Tales, The Arabian Nights, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Other Stories, Aesop's Illustrated Fables, Jules Verne: Seven Novels, The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, Fairy Tales from Around the World
ceetheninja1 They are definitely quite large. They aren't too heavy for me, but that is because I prop them up on a pillow in my lap when I read. I don't usually hold them out in front of me like I would a paperback. Good luck with the Narnia one! Any one of them currently being sold is much too expensive for me, but if the publisher ever decides to do a reprint I will snap one up instantly! :)
I read all of platos dialogues this past year with a cracked screened samsung s6, all free versions of jowetts. Harsh translations. It was a wild ride!

They are definitely a great deal! Books this nice would never usually be just $18. Plus, I got most of these on sale, so even better! Compared to other leatherbound classics editions, these are much less expensive.
I have Grimm's complete fairy tales and I'm slowly getting the rest. A lot of people have been saying that the ink comes off the cover of these books, especially Arabian Nights. Has that happened to you with these books? Also what are your top three favorites?
Nicole Oliver It hasn't happened to mine so far, but I have had many of them for less than a year. I hope it doesn't! I love mythology and fairy tales, so I'd have to say my favorites are probably Bullfinch's Mythology, Grimm's, Andersen's, and Fairy Tales From Around the World. But honestly, I love all of them! The Jane Austen one is so pretty, and I've really been enjoying reading the Sherlock Holmes one so far! :)
The Adventuring Bookworm OK, thanks. I love mythology as well so I will definitely have to get Bullfinch's this weekend. By the way I just recently found your channel and I love watching your videos, you have so many great books.
Shakespeare complete works took me more than half a year to read, is small font and in two columns, many plays are boring too. Is good if you want all Shakespeare works in a single book but takes A LOT of time to finish it.
Funny thing I was looking to some of those books today but I decided not to buy them, I live in Mexico so we don't have B&N and shipping is crazy :( beautiful books and nice video!
I picked up a couple of these Leather bound Classics when I was down in New York State last August. I'm from Canada and "Chapters" is our equivalent of "Barnes and Nobles," but unfortunately, they offer nothing like these.
You can order them right from barnes and noble for a reasonable price... The shipping is not bad and the ship super fast. I've ordered an out ten of these in the last year or two.
No, they are not! That was something that I was concerned about, but before I decided to buy them, I compared them with some other bind-ups and made sure to check the thickness of the pages. The pages are very high quality and not thin. I made sure to check since some other bind-ups I have seen can have flimsy pages, but these do not. :)
The Adventuring Bookworm Thanks for the reply. Also I've read reviews that there are typos in the Sherlock Holmes books. Is there plenty of typos you've come across?
Here's the thing about Barnes and Noble's so called leather-bound classics: they are more like really audacious hardcovers and actually fairly low quality.
How many books are there in the B&N LCC series? And please be kind to my cousin Robert Frost. In the poetry book are there any poems by cousin E. Pound, O. Henry, N. Hawthorne, or T. Williams or step cousin TS Eliot? Of course I have no idea how accurate family tree scholars were in making links between the above authors & I, so who knows what the real story is. You haven't read the Plato's Dialogues book??? I'm aghast. (-: As Lewis says in Narnia Bk 7 LB, thru the mouth of Prof. Digory aka himself, "It's all in Plato, all in Plato..." I say, what *did* they teach you at that UChicago school? Which dialogues are in this book, 'cause I want to copiously QUIZ you on them after you are done reading them. :-D :-D As for the B&N LCC Narnia bindup, I wonder if it has the original illustrations done by Pauline Baynes in them? If you're concerned re the font size in these books, you should see it in the compact OED. (-: Losing your voice? Nah, after this video was over you went to sing in Wagner's Ring at the Met. :-D
There are a lot of them, but the number of them available at any particular time fluctuates a lot. Some of them go out of print but are reprinted later. Some of them are not reprinted. Some of them are redesigned. Sometimes new ones are added. In the description box, I added a link to the page of ones that B&N is currently selling on their website, but others can usually be found on eBay. I think on goodreads there is a list of all of the ones they have ever published. I love Robert Frost! :) In the poetry book: Unfortunately no E. Pound, O. Henry, N. Hawthorne, or T. Williams. TS Eliot is in there though: The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (I read this 5 years ago and I still remember "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.") and The Waste Land. Nope, I still haven't read Plato yet. I have been too busy studying for my MCAT, unfortunately. I am truly a failure as a UChicago student. I feel like I'm the only one who went through 4 years there with no Plato. :( I'm not sure about the Narnia illustrations. Unfortunately I've never seen the inside of that very pricy out of print book haha. I'm not too concerned with the font size, but the person who asked me to make the video was requesting info on the font size readability specifically, so I tried to do my best to show it.
+thegodmachine Hmmm... that is interesting. Maybe so. I'll have to look into whether mine is complete or not. If not, I'm sure I can find the remaining ones online to read. :)
Does anyone know of any similar "Classics" series of similar quality with either synthetic-leather or cloth bindings? I absolutely adore the quality of the binding and the content within, but I'm not particularly fond of the use of dead animal skin (especially considering the harsh reality of factory farming).

The Adventuring Bookworm OK, thanks. I love mythology as well so I will definitely have to get Bullfinch's this weekend. By the way I just recently found your channel and I love watching your videos, you have so many great books.
nicole oliver Thank you so much! :)
I don't suppose the Treasury of Classic Poetry contains my favorite: Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge?
Zach Hampton No, unfortunately it isn't in there, sorry!
perfect bravo...
could you make a list of all the books in this video?
never mind I just noticed that it is in the description
Shakespeare complete works took me more than half a year to read, is small font and in two columns, many plays are boring too. Is good if you want all Shakespeare works in a single book but takes A LOT of time to finish it.
Is it the real leather? Please reply
Funny thing I was looking to some of those books today but I decided not to buy them, I live in Mexico so we don't have B&N and shipping is crazy :( beautiful books and nice video!
Thanks! Sorry about the shipping. That is unfortunate. :( Maybe sometime if you are ever in the US you can stop by a B&N and get some?
OMG I would cry, I've been intended to go to VIDCON, but no money, is either vidcon or books so... books. *cries a lot and ugly*
Aww :(
One day tho! I think I hope, I'm sure!
I picked up a couple of these Leather bound Classics when I was down in New York State last August. I'm from Canada and "Chapters" is our equivalent of "Barnes and Nobles," but unfortunately, they offer nothing like these.
I know someone else from Canada who grabbed some while in NY. I feel very lucky to be able to just go to a B&N to get them! Which ones did you get?
You can order them right from barnes and noble for a reasonable price... The shipping is not bad and the ship super fast. I've ordered an out ten of these in the last year or two.
And I live in Canada.
Nice! I wasn't sure if the shipping was crazy or not. That is great! :)
You got a ton of them.
You can get them I Norway
Are the pages in these books thin and flimsy ?
No, they are not! That was something that I was concerned about, but before I decided to buy them, I compared them with some other bind-ups and made sure to check the thickness of the pages. The pages are very high quality and not thin. I made sure to check since some other bind-ups I have seen can have flimsy pages, but these do not. :)

Thanks for the reply. Also I've read reviews that there are typos in the Sherlock Holmes books. Is there plenty of typos you've come across?
I haven't come across any typos at all. But I've only read the first novel in the Sherlock Holmes book so far.
Losing your voice? Nah, after this video was over you went to sing in Wagner's Ring at the Met. :-D
There are a lot of them, but the number of them available at any particular time fluctuates a lot. Some of them go out of print but are reprinted later. Some of them are not reprinted. Some of them are redesigned. Sometimes new ones are added. In the description box, I added a link to the page of ones that B&N is currently selling on their website, but others can usually be found on eBay. I think on goodreads there is a list of all of the ones they have ever published.
I love Robert Frost! :)
In the poetry book: Unfortunately no E. Pound, O.
I'm not sure about the Narnia illustrations. Unfortunately I've never seen the inside of that very pricy out of print book haha.
I'm not too concerned with the font size, but the person who asked me to make the video was requesting info on the font size readability specifically, so I tried to do my best to show it.
I have the complete Hans Christian Anderson and I don't think it has illustrations...maybe that's how the pages even out.
Saucy Fox Hi, Penguin does a really lovely, simple set of clothbound classics. Worth a look🙂
*Gorgeous* ...
the books too .
