If Honda made this Car today it would be popular! The simular S2000 was a neat car also! 😎👍

With a little 1lt turbocharged engine and a few modcons like abs/ power steering etc..

Modern safety and emission standards would prevent this today

@@derekwhyle1884 i just want the same body shape and be able to buy it brand new. They can cork it up all they want with emissions Bs , doesn't matter to me as long as I can have a new one.

@@6___________99_____________64 emissions aren’t a problem, collision mitigation is. By the time you’ve added front, side and rear impact protection you could never replicate this compact design or it’s power/ weight ratio. That ignores the fact that the average 2023 male would not be a comfortable fit. They ain’t going to build it just for you bro

Very nice restoration. I had one of these some 50 years ago. It had a superb little engine like a sewing machine and great rev limit. The only problem I had with mine was a reverse gear that came off its shaft, and I was easily able to take the engine out and split the gearbox to get access to the gear. A simple fix for very little money. The UJs on the steering column developed wear and had to be replaced. Loved the car.

In 1977-78, I owned a silver 1968 S800 and it was a head-turner. The most fun car to drive that I ever had, although it needed frequent carb adjustments.

Fantastic little cars. I had one in 1975. My auto shop teacher also had one. They were 1967 S600. His had a datsun motor, and mine had Ford v6 2800cc with 4 barrel. My car usr to belong to his brother. They were the ones that put the V6 in my car before I got it. Some days I'm sorry I sold it. Only sold it about 10 years ago.

I once owned the last S800 coupe sold in Germany.
Except for damage to the cylinder head (crack in the combustion chamber to the exhaust valve) and broken roller bearings on the half shafts in the rear axle, no problems. Infernal r/pm (10.000+) with the corresponding noise, just great.
And did I make the biggest mistake you can make; I sold the car because of family addition. Big mistake.

The mesh on the oil pump suction strainer that you have used is way too coarse. It will allow larger particles than normal into the pump causing wear and possible locking up of the pump which will shear the pump drive shaft and seize the camshaft bearings. Drop the sump pan and fit a finer mesh.
