I appreciate your carpentry skills, but I don't understand why the length of the shutters is the only measurement. Everything I've seen about shutters recommends making each shutter one half the width of the window, so that even if they're only decorative and not operational, they appear as if they could cover the window. All the shutter-fabrication instructions I've seen only address the length.
Do you think directly glueing the battens would cause the shutter to fail due to expansion!?
Aren't shutters supposed to actually shut?
