Thanks for this content man. I was expecting this video for a long time, and you did it. Thanks again.
Straight to the point with many information packed! Awesome content!
Been looking for how to do this for ages. Thank you so much!
Subbed after 30 seconds. This is the way I like my information presented. Keep it up!
was looking for this video AWSM!
Thank you for your very high S/N and useful tutorial. You are my HERO!
Great Video, keep up the good work!
superb explanation !
very useful !!
Thanks. This was very helpful and informative
Thank you for making this video, Easy to follow keep up the great work
X-ming won’t be needed soon, I believe. A pending update to Windows will enhance WSL, adding GUI support, making it WSLG.
Thank you. Very useful information.
Thanks! Informative!
Thanks, great video! GWSL is also a super easy GUI / X Server for WSL
❤️Another awesome video 🔥🔥
Awesome tut, man. I know how powerful Linux is and can be!
Great video. Subscribed
very very helpful. Thank you sir
"Let's use vim"
....
"okay let's use nano"
relatable 🤣
Awesome content.
Awesome 🥳
Excellent.
Thank you
i can vouch for you that bell sound is very annoying tysm for helping me get rid of it 😂. nice and informative video.
i love that intro
The bell sound removing was a life savior
Thx
thanks it really helped>👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'll try to learn about linux command on wsl, thanks mate
would you mind do a do tutorial on the wsl2 GUI setup in a bit more detail?
Just a small note:
Do not uncomment the "do not bell on tab-completion" line. That will make your "d" key stop working in the terminal, and you are then unable to execute sudo commands after that.
In the case that you do uncomment it by error, you need to go to %appdata%\Local\Packages\CanonicalGroupLimited.... and find the rootfs then go to /etc/inputrc and edit it in notepad :P I found out that the hard way. Didnt take long to find the fix though...
It works fine for me after uncommenting it.
@@JoePerkins666 that's strange. That must be a strange coincidence then, because when I fixed/commented out the line again with a text editor in Windows, then restarted WSL it worked again. I will try to duplicate the error again one of these days.
@@alcaeo Let's say a wizard did it.
@@alcaeo %appdata% is for roaming it actually %localappdata%\packages\canonicalgrouplimited
mnt folder point, neofetch makes the explanation clear
Would like to see one to one private chat implemented on your TCP chat tutorial..
thanks
For those who don't know the WSL version used in this video is WSL 1. Windows has released WSL 2 which has GUI support innately. If you have recently installed WSL then maybe you are having WSL 2
if you install zsh, disable the beep by adding "setopt No_Beep" to your .zshrc
as i heard that your user is Flori, i rushed to you channel page to find out, that you are austrian. I didnt know we have so good youtubers here.
so cool
If you already installed Neovim on windows, do you also have to install it on the subsystem?
When you make tutorials as these. Keep in mind that the people following along hasen't used Linux before.
For me this is the case. So when you type through and say "Now save that", or "now let's exit" then I'm thinking - HOW!!?
But we can't run it alongside Virtualbox or VMware, right? Can you please show us how to do it if there is any way?
I installed WSL on Win11 and it doesn't need to install Xming X server in order to display GUI apps. Thanks for other great tips!
thanks :D
hey so when i search about desktop it says "no such file or directory".How should i resolve it?
Same ending music as Hardware Unboxed?
I'd take 5 error sounds leaving the text than a single nothing or a line that means nothing, and now I have to rewrite the line hoping I'm not mistakenly doing it again and screwing it up.
shouldn't you write "OFF" after "set visualbell" in 9:20 ?
It is still a pre-beta one: basic things like (1) Ubuntu can not talk to each other (2) GPU does not work inside Kuberneste of a Ubuntu etc..Very basic.
How can we install pycharm from terminal ?
It works but the graphical applications have lower resolution :(
great introduction video. I still somehow couldnot scroll up or down only using my keyboard. I dont have Pagedown/up key and i tried to activate using Fn button with arrows. It still didnt work. When a huge amount of data appears, i would like to scroll by keyboard. Anybody has tried it ?
7:59 me all the time when editing text.
can we run anbox on linux wsl2 distro?
Do you think one can survive with configuring NeoVim on Windows itself? I really want to take this NeoVim journey. I love the Vim Motions, but VS Code is just very laggy with the Vim Extension and by itself I get a lot of lag from it and I don't even have such heavy base of Extensions. Would like to know your guys take on this.
You can, but you'll have to be diligent with dependencies and environment variables. Neovim is really a Linux first kind of software where it is just way easier to install dependencies for plugins, I've heard that some plugins might not work as well on Win as well. I haven't done it myself as I'm a Linux guy, but it certainly should be easier for Linux.
Just take the leap and install Linux. From there it's just a couple of shell commands away.
Startmenü?
ya um even if i got wsl it always crashes on startup so i cant use it
what if i have no ms store?
I got Error: Can't open display: localhost:0.0 :(
same here!
When you initiate the Ubuntu, how the terminal directly goes to the Desktop directory. (beginner ask)
I am having this issue, can you help how to solve it?
Who do I found my Users? In this video he used flori, who will I found what,s in my case ?
hi, does anyone knows the steps to create a bash script in debian WSL?
What is the sudo password for the first run
Where is the GUI? I kow I can run linux apps in wsl2.
Xming is not needed as Windows 11 supports WSL2 and it allows you to do this.
Latest update to wsl, Wsl2 supports gui by default. No need for xming.
Thank you for uploading this video I needed this video to do the video about creating an app using python.
Thanks for "mnt" i always wonder for this
that bell sound maybe a cool thing in the 90s. but 20 years later it become rediculously annoying
Should specify WSL2 in title
half the stuff he told me to do didn't work
in 16:50 it gave me the error nv: command not found
what should I do?
He was using that as an alias.
@@user-pl6hc4kj1o I honestly do not know what that is, but thank you for responding.
@@abdullahyousef3596 Sounds like you're pretty new to Linux stuff, then. Vim may be a little intimidating for you, if that's the case. (I myself still use nano...) But nvim will give you the same error if you don't have it installed.
Also, look again at 16:55, and you can see some of his aliases.
@@user-pl6hc4kj1o Oh ok I get it, thank you so much, and yeah I am new to linux.
I am getting this error when I try to install neofetch, anyone know how to fix? " E: Unable to locate package neofetch "
sudo apt update
then try to install neofetch again, just worked for me
@@LuisAguilar-pg3xz thing is I had just installed it and everything was working and then I installed some plugin that messed it up idk why but I will try to update and install again tnx for the tip
make use using xming
No works Black Screen on Xming.... xD
hi
Ain't gonna lie, just wanna play Linux games
5:10
Arch?
NO ARCH
Yeah, you can import a distro, they have a article about it in the documentation (wsl documentation, not arch lol)
@@zuberkariye2299 arch on windows mangggg what’s not to loveee hrrnngg 😩😩
doing treight to point. thats not for beginers. neuraldir what the fuck is that. jumpin from folder to folder. this is for people who already using it.
its not 'Ubantu' its a zulu word man, its pro-nounced 'Uboontu'
Found this somewhere, try setting the display to this, helped me.
export DISPLAY=$(awk '/nameserver / {print $2; exit}' /etc/resolv.conf 2>/dev/null):0
