I also cant get this entitled behavior... When i started skating which is not long ago I was very cautious and I am still because it is not my standard environment (not 100% sure about etiquette and such) but I see so many parents with kids that just dont care at all... Then accidents can happen
@@LaggerSVK Totally agree. The thing is skaters usually just want to skate and watch others skate. They are the ones those little scooter kids look up to and they are also the ones that clap when you nail your first trick. they are like those people who stop in high foot traffic parts of shopping centres and refuse to move bc they've met that one friend they haven't seen in ages 😂
Ive had a ruff time this week, starting it by being notified my 9 yr old brother was being harassed by a couple of 13 yr old middle schoolers. Im in 11th grade, so i was thinking he would be scared off. When i arrived he tried to act tough so i just kind of walked towards him to scare him off. This was by no means something worth them to jump me over, especially since they started the conflict. But anyways hey decided he would grab some of his nobrain friends and "explain" the story by lying to make me look bad because hes younger and smaller. He and his friends jumped me a couple days later. I was trying my hardest to be fair and use a soft voice, but he decided to be an ass. After being jumped i fell hopeless of humanity. I thought good people arnt able to be found in this crowd of heartless worms. But i came home watched this video and seeing the way you act and the kindness you portray gives me a sense of hope. I love your kindness and wish more people thought about others with a sense of empathy and understanding. -Love from 🇨🇦❤️
As a parent I can't understand why these parents need to stand in the middle of the park, they are dumb and it's dangerous, I don't think they have been blasted before and hit the ground, if they did they wouldn't stand there.
Only just recently found your channel. You are even keeled even in the face 9f unreasonable, irresponsible, entitled adults. Blows my mind. I'm a parent myself and can't fathom the thought process they are going through to react that way.
In my experience, the larger the Karen, the bigger the problem youre going to have. Try to make sure your Karens are under 100kgs for a smoother ride. ✌🏾
Awh come on bro, if a kid asks you to teach them a simple trick like a tail whip you should take 5 mins to help them, that's the responsibility we have to the next generation 😕
You keeping positive interactions with the kids is priceless for them. They will remember this long after you've forgotten about any negative adult contacts! Bravo Sir!
I have kids 7 and 4 I’m forever reminding them to get out of the way if they aren’t on their board or scooters and move there stuff off the park for safety and respect for others. And for those saying that he shouldn’t be taken seriously because he is grown and on a scooter I say at least he’s got a safe legal hobby he could be using drugs, shop lifting or robbing people. Instead he is getting healthy exercise helping little kids and encouraging them. What’s better than that?
Even druggies at skateparks have more etiquette than half the kids on scooters at a skatepark 🤣 Yes it's fine for them to learn, but most I've seen just go round in circles on flat land, which just gets in the way of people and if someone is in the air and the kid doesn't look, it's a bad day for them 🤣
Context: you can see I'm helping the park dry quicker, the fastest part to dry is always the small flat ledge. this group of non-users come about and stand around in the only ridable area at that given moment. And then proceed to gaslight me in my opinion. Let me know what you think.
@@convexcrew the park i used to ride at was a popular drinking spot, drunk people sitting on rails, i was nice for a bit....then id just skate the stuff they were sitting on even if they were there lol
3:04 I love how the kids are so much more respectful than the LITERAL ADULTS apologising even when they haven’t really done anything wrong and then adults not even with wheels are having a go at you
I feel like sometimes having kids brings out the worst in ppl. Some ppl think they basically do anything bc if someone calls them out, they throw the “i have a child” excuse. Like sorry but you deciding to have children is not my problem 😭
I just found your channel through a short you made, Dude your respect and how you handled that situation with the karen purely because you where looking out for there safety. And the courtecy you have for others at the park and also interact with beginners to make them feel more comfortable at the park, huge props there needs to be people like you bro.
I like to tell the snowboard park rule when at skateparks, "person committed to doing trick on frature in park, they take priority. All else people have to make sure they dont get in the way." That also follows up by the park etiquette rule of taking your turn.
Good for you for taking the high road. This would not have happened if it was me in this situation. The entitlement, the disrespect in a public space. It just gets me.
@gregorybeze7663 , I think what @thegatheringknights is saying is that if he or she was in that Karens place they wouldn't have behaved in such an entitled manner. I could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me.
You wouldn't stand with your kids in the middle of a basket ball court with people having a game going on. Why is this any different? I just don't understand the absolute absence of consideration for others and feeling so in the right.
You're kind and courteous but there are better strategies. As soon as you scold people in any way, it can trigger them. You have to drown your communication in sugar and smiles. Tell skatepark karens/kevins you have an extra scooter/skateboard if they want to roll around with everybody - with smiles and laughs cheerlead them to become skaters too. More that direction. Be self-effacing and lavish praise on kids, who they use as props to get away with this crappy behavior. If you dole out undeserved kindness and welcome it really f*cks these ppl up and it will leave you empowered. They tend to totally deflate and mumble away in defeat
It's just such utter disregard for the sport. Would you go to the public pool, see the signs about staying out of the lap lanes, and then plop yr kids down with their floaties in the lap lanes anyway? Would you have a picnic in the middle of a public basketball court? But you have to explain this to parents like they are complete morons. "Even though they look like comfortable ledges and ramps to sit on or walk around, skaters need to use of every part of the park, creating "lines" and linking obstacles is a big part of this sport, and it take speed to use them..." Proceed to talk their ears off about why X obstacle they are blocking is fun and the tricks you can do it - nevermind they have no idea what you are saying, just smile and yap. Be annoyingly friendly
I remember this one Karen years ago who tried to knock skateboarders off their board and claim it’s self defence. Well someone just so happened to be filming a part for the local skate video and caught her doing it after she had called the police and guess what she had like 30 charges laid on here from assault, to battery, to child abuse all in one day because she wanted to think skateboarders are all delinquenct. Funny how now it’s a Olympic sport when people use to think it’s for the bad teens
Personally think you should’ve helped the kid out with the tail whip would’ve taken two seconds out of your time, but I understand he would’ve kept asking to teach him new things my skate park where I live is nearly perfect when it comes to parents they make sure they stay away from the boxes and we don’t even have a sign they respect us we respect them. We have the odd one or two appearance but they end up getting told where to go and they end up listening because the whole park turns against them, but we always try and make sure we don’t turn against the kids. How you keep your cool. Is crazy.
Where is all this taking place, because I feel like the skate parks I went to. If this were to happen there would be hands thrown faster than light traveling
You to nice as a German i don't have patience. I would simply remind them sarcastically how dangerous it is "you can stay here while i craft a Target marking and we make a game called. Don't hit the stupid adults who aren't smart enough to understand the difference between foots and rolls" 😂
Watching the full respect dude.i love that your telling.huge respect to this ..I would say sorry to you straight away bit I wouldn't be doing this I would be standing watching you rip
Don't take yourself so seriously dude. When a kid ask you if you can help them and all you can think of is yourself? Then that makes you a self centered with far to much ego for someone who rides scooters. Next time take 5 mins away to teach the youth a thing or 2 and go back to your session. No reason to take your scooter away that serious. It's not like me where if I don't take my profession seriously people will die. Your just riding a scooter.
Look at most of his other videos, he does sooo much for the kids at those parks. It’s not unreasonable to need a focus session every once in a while. If he helped one kid, then another would come up, then another. He’s allowed to want to just focus on himself every once in a while, ya know? On another note, it doesn’t seem very smart of you to be wasting time in the comment section of RUclips when you should be out there saving lives! That seems pretty selfish to me. You have the ability to save lives and yet you’re here being nasty to a literal scooter coach that teaches kids. 😭
it amazes me that parents will defend standing right in the middle of the park staring at you while your waiting to ride then make you the bad guy
It's ridiculous happens at my local to
