When I bought this game my friend said I should try vatista, since she also has charge inputs like guile. I had no idea he was half joking and he just wanted to see me freak out at how crazy she was. Only reason I didn't switch was because I assumed all the characters were all as complicated as her so I just kept struggling for hours till I got a combo. After getting used to her crazy charges she's honestly so fun that i won't switch mains anytime soon.
I had just picked up my firsrt charge character in P4AU and loved using her right away. Once discovered the degree to which Vat is a charge character and a rush down zoner and a set up character I knew I wanted to play her. Crystal pressure is my game, I love her block string loops.
I suck at doing diagonal inputs for my keyboard (I use keyboard yes I won’t elaborate on that) stuff so I just picked up Vatista and have never dropped her since
Honestly, I would agree to pick Wagner if you want to learn how the game works. Her combos are easier to remember, might take some tries to perfectly execute them but even if you don't you'll still pull out a plausible combo. Eltnum Is imo a easy character to pick up but can be hard to master. her bullet enhance system is tricky but overtime you’ll get the hang of it. Weirdly enough when I first played UNIB on PSnow, I used Vatista to get better at combo-ing in the air and she’s a VERY hard character. But over time I felt like characters like Eltinum, Orie, and Wagner fit my playstyle. I like to rush-down but I also want to maintain a good neutral game and have options to combat with zoning. TL;DR: Play Wagner/Hyde to learn the game, pick up a difficult character to know your strengths and weaknesses. Experiment with various characters that best suits your personal playstyle.
Phatinum Star exactly what I did I just got the game and I’m havin a lot of fun with Wagner I’m hopin I can get into the more complex characters later down the line

Me: _So it appears I have learned how to play this game the hard way._
Agreed for the most part. Although I'd say Linnes complexity goes beyond just tk kuuga. In a lot if match ups she'll be out classed in range and fireballs, so you'll be relying in dash blocking to get in close and generally waiting for opportunities a lot. At a low level id say shes pretty easy, but once you start fighting better people you come to realise that Linnes gameplay relies a lot on knowledge, which is why I'd say shes a solid intermediate character.
I'd bump Eltnum up to galaxy brain tier. She has all the things to win neutral, but as soon as she does: What was the starter? How many bullets? How many magic bullets? Execution! Don't mess up the reload? any of that goes wrong and she dies.
I've been playing Wald since I first picked up the game and have never touched anyone else, and I'd say he's beginner to intermediate. His combo routes are very mix-and-match friendly and his damage is great as one would expect from a grappler. I think the biggest challenge when learning to use him is defense, since he doesn't have fast normals (his fastest is f8 iirc). 623C and 360C both have f1 invincibility; but there's sort of a 50/50 between them where 623C beats assault normals but is unsafe on block, while 360C beats block and loses to jump/assault since it's a command grab.
Couple notes: I only find Vatista and Carmine, maybe Chaos requiring a pad. I've been told with Yuzu u just have to use a special config with a shoulder button as the D move. Other than that she never requires you to hold any button more than once besides with D, so you just have to do one slight alter to play her, allegedly. So that's reassuring. If you love her truly, u can play her and use pad or stick. With Hilda what you do is map A+B to where just B would normally be, and do regular B as a shoulder button. Boom, you'll do anything you'd ever need with her. Only thing you'd miss is holding her C button for her C Fallen Pain, but I find that unnecessary and you can even switch to claw grip during neutral to use B buttons as you hold A. It's not the weirdest thing in the world bro, promise. And you'll be able to have an amazing, amazing Hilda without having to learn stick. Hopes this help y'all. Chaos can be perfectly doable on pad too I believe, tho I'm not sure. And lastly Seth might even be better with pad. Why he's difficult supposedly is the sheer amount of Quarter Circle and shoryuken inputs, but they're so easy on pad and you can get an optimal or near optimal BnB and just a few hours and get it consistent in a fight. That's what happened for me. You'll still have to train with him a lot cus he can do so much, but a day 1 Seth is very strong, and you simply expand your toolkit beyond that going forward. He's also a bit difficult cuz he can do so much and his neutral is weird but interesting and strong. After all he's blindingly fast. So don't be discouraged for pad or stick, play what you want, and I just wanted to say no character should be daunting. You'd be surprised at how fast you can learn even the most difficult character and get to a decent level QUICKLY! Pick the Char you adore the most, and play him/her. Don't choose an ez char to switch, pick your boo
picked this game up for pc today, plugged my mini hori like a mofo went into training mode for merkava few hours later got my ass kicked by a gordeau yeah i need help i cant pick anybody else i love merk's aesthetic
Honestly, I still feel Linne is a beginner-friendly character. Yeah her TK Fireballs are difficult to do, but I've never found them to be essential. Her BnB is pretty simple to learn in stages and build upon sequentially and works well both in mid and corners, and her huge normals and generous hit stun give you more opportunities to learn how to convert. I think the toughest part to learn about her aren't essential to play her well.
Nice job with the FAQ involving the characters. Had a feeling that Seth would be difficult to use because I tried using him one time and I just could not get a handle on his moveset. Same with Yuzu and mr. Grim Reaper. Now I have a much clearer understanding on who I will use if I were to play Under night.
Just remember this: player skill is better than character choice. You won't believe how many people will go for Terumi/Susanoo/Hazama because "they're the best characters in Blazblue" but have no idea how to play them.
Merk is somewhat easy to pick up due to his large range but his bnbs and conversions are quite difficult due to having to use 66b and 66c so much in his combos, it can be real hard to get down starting off and it still hurts my hands doing it.
Yo not gonna lie, when I picked up this game, I automatically went to learning Ekidu but after a few days of playing the game. I started switch off to eltnum.
Seth's bnb works almost exactly the same on any starter so you can master his essential combo in just several hours of playtime. Additionally his orb is really strong whether he is being passive or not and people struggle to deal with his dives/ blinks / dash attacks. That being said everything else about him is tricky
moment of F for the fingers of yuzu mains. Also, seth is pretty easy to learn. He's less technical but very tricky in neutral movement, so if making sure your opponent respects your options at all times is your thing, go ahead and give him a go.
Honestly the easiest character in my opinion is Gordeau. He will teach you the fundamentals of the game itself, has a great neutral, great meaties, and overall great beginner character. Unfortunately most of his attacks are easy to punish on whiff.
I’m personally going to main Linne when I get this game or the new unist cl. She was the first character I really took an interest in. Um mainly cause she seems like a cool close range rushdown character. Her footsie game is great! And she’s cute too. I love the music as well! Although that may change cause there are other female characters I wanna main too. Like Phonon or Wagner.
Vatista is fun. I play Guile and Urien in SF pretty well so Vatista having a ridiculously fleshed out moveset with all those specials on TOP of the flash kick and the slow fireball for pressure is like christmas day for me. I'm trying to figure out her hold crystal explosion thing but man it's rough going.
I like playing Enkidu. I believe that was how I got the achievement for max difficulty, three round and no death arcade. I still like playing Hyde, Gordeau, and occasionally Orie, Wagner and Phonon. On a rare occasion Akatsuki. I'm not too great with Chaos and Yuzuriha, but sometimes I just like to mess around with them.
Atm I main Gordeau and Byakuya. Gordeau is hella easy to play and His range and grapple set is good. While Byakuya is good on mis range and Trapping opponents.
They'd have to take away his special cancelling and normal cancelling traits or else he would be way too oppressive in BBTAG. I dunno how I'd feel about that if they put him in BBTAG. Chaos with a meterless, one button reversal would be scary though.
Found the game today after a while of being interested in playing it, so naturally I'd be drawn to whoever's on the cover. Starting playing Linne and I think I'll keep at it
Omg this helped me so much. Perfect video Ko! I'm in love with the game and have only been trying out moveset and tutorials. I really want to try and understand the game so decided that maybe I should start with an "easier" character. I think I'm going Nanase. Bartz Girl WOOOO.
Just bought CLR. Mika and Merkava were the characters that interested me the absolute most, but Nanase just was pick up and play for me. Figured out a decent combo in an hour (minus the projectile relaunch part) and I felt I was ready to go.
I also got CLR, I main Merkava since I mained him in BBTAG so I was already very familiar with him and he's just as fun to play as he was in BBTAG. My secondary would be a throwup between Nanase, Phonon, and Waldstein.
Yeah, everyone saying that Akatsuki is a good beginner character is probably just looking at his movelist and thinks: "yeah that guy is simpel af." But no man, his routes are not beginner friendly at all.
Good video. Im going to buy this game soon and I want to main Yuzuriha eventually. With this video I´ll be able to jump from waifu to waifu until I can do that. I think my course of action will be Wagner → Enkidu → Elthnum→Phonon → Orie →Merkava→Yuzuriha. Wish me luck. Road to Yuzu time.
Just play Carmine he isn't very hard to learn after you learn his tools and buttons the only thing that's a must is trying to have a puddle most times that might be difficult for some however aside from that he is great at disrupting your Opponents mid pressure and he has over the top pressure that can be overwhelming for anyone unfamiliar with his tools or pressure which at times it allows you to have good mix ups he only gets hard when you get to a point between being yellow and orange square just because you have to learn how to more consistent with him however watching a couple of videos by Notes (the best Carmine in Japan) is all it takes for you to get an idea on what you might want to do Don't be afraid of picking up technical characters
Trying to main Seth, and I'm getting there. But his j.6c after 213c is just impossible to connect. Either comes out too late, doesn't register the initial jump or it just doesn't come out at all. Anyone have any tips?
i might be a little bit late on this…. and i’m guessing you’ve probably figured this out by now, but here it goes anyways. Input 6C right after doing the jump (i don’t think it matters if you hold forward or not since the j6c is coming out immediately after). The trick is to make sure you delay the (22 teleport-behind kick thing) as much as possible (meaning that the opponent should be as close to the ground as possible) that way you’ll have more time to connect the j6c
As a Wald main, I will admit that he probably has some of the simplest fundamentals in the game, minus the fact that his max damage combos are kinda difficult, and his main mixup is a 360 throw. His movement speed, size, and overall gameplan are what make him hard to play. Your only low is 2B and your best overhead imo is the highly reactable 236B. He doesn't have a tradional run like most characters, instead having only a forward dash, which leaves you relying on things like Assault j2C into chain shift in order to get in on some of your more difficult matchups like Chaos, Eltnum, and Vatista. You have to be really creative in order to get touches on your opponents, and you really have to be ready to capitalize on every touch you get with max damage combo routes, and the SECOND you lose your turn you will be blocking for a long time.
Your two main advantages as a Waldstein player are your insanely high damage (you can squeeze out ~4k meterless on a good starter, generally 5B or 66B) and what is among the best attack range in the game.
Saludo desde república dominicana, soy nuevo y mi estilo en los fighting ganes es de safe o balance , cuál es los personajes es para ese estilo no importa si es bening o intermedio o avanzado , me gustaría saber
For some reason you have Enkidu as Intermediate in the video but easy in the description...? I do agree with enkidu being easy but at the same time, he is more of the lower intermediate due to his playstyle. He is what I’d call a “punisher” as he teaches someone patience or Hakumen but UNIST. He does ridiculous damage and his combos are easy, but he doesn’t have any projectiles aside from super and some characters have very high pressure game more than other characters. I believe matchups that could be really good against him is Byakuya, Seth, Yuzu, and Nanase. If I am wrong, correct me.
When my brother got Unist I wanted to play since we both didn't know what to do. (He a knew a little more since he's into fighting games) I immediately thought, "Seth looks cool" with no knowledge that he was one of the most difficult characters in the game
Funny story i played under night in birth twice first time i played it on ps3 free yes free i downloaded on psn+ and i enjoyed it the 2nd time i owned it on ps4 and it was a prize during aksys live stream and i won during that i was so excited and happy to win the giveaway
Is it OK to pick a advance character at the beginning? If I want to main Yuzu what should I start with? I have some experience playing GG xrd for 1 year with only one Character(El).
You need to be patient at first. She has amazing mid range control and can really pop off a perfectly well spaced 214x. Her 4b and 4c at great at keeping you in mid especially with chain shift (cancel). But really the thing to do is build up finger strength. She can be exhausting to play because she really tests your finger strength. You need to master her stance. And that is something you enter out of several special. In stance you get a great dash game and your goal is to evade as you launch your stored stances. But you have to be good about holding the buttons. Go to this site and read the Character trait section. wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Under_Night_In-Birth/UNIST/Yuzuriha
Oh thank it really helpful. I stuck try to finish the mission mode for 2 weeks and still not understand Yuzu's mechanic T T. I think it gonna take a while to get use to her combo input.
Oh I know she has them, I know they can be good, and I wish I was good at her, but I'm bad at her for the same reason I'm bad at Taokaka in Blazblue, the way some of her attacks move her across the screen just throw me off if I try to play her. Edit: Spelling.
I just go for Hyde since I mained him in bbtag and I like the chip damage he does with his Sword but hopefully I might return to unist since I still love the game
Getting into this game is hard not because of the gameplay or mechanics or character or whatelse but because it shares the curse every ArcSys game suffers from which is not having a solid online community. I'm a Byakuya main. I love the blend of rushdown and setplay he's got going for him.
Just learn everyone, you're gonna need to for the achievements
Found the game today after a while of being interested in playing it, so naturally I'd be drawn to whoever's on the cover. Starting playing Linne and I think I'll keep at it
do u play on ps4
@@CC_Reads yeah I play on PS4
Omg this helped me so much. Perfect video Ko! I'm in love with the game and have only been trying out moveset and tutorials. I really want to try and understand the game so decided that maybe I should start with an "easier" character. I think I'm going Nanase. Bartz Girl WOOOO.
I found Mika to be ridiculously easy to learn. In fact i was able to pick her up faster than any other character. Certainly not Hyde or Akatsuki.
lets be real, pick anybody all the time, more fun that way!
Hearing the words “forward -> back charge move” disturbed me on a level I can’t quite describe
Hearing that mah Tsuki-boi can be very defensive in playstyle was enough for me. I'm bought.
Why do I keep liking the harder characters?
Me maining Yuzu since I got the game: Wait what... She Advanced?!
A lot of people told me Orie was a good beginner character and then the reverse flash kick... Well, kicked my ass.
All characters is really good and easy to play. and my favorite characters is orie and phonom.
Just pick goddamn gordeau
Gucci gordeua
a fellow man of culture
GRIM REAPUH
Just play Carmine he isn't very hard to learn after you learn his tools and buttons the only thing that's a must is trying to have a puddle most times that might be difficult for some however aside from that he is great at disrupting your Opponents mid pressure and he has over the top pressure that can be overwhelming for anyone unfamiliar with his tools or pressure which at times it allows you to have good mix ups he only gets hard when you get to a point between being yellow and orange square just because you have to learn how to more consistent with him however watching a couple of videos by Notes (the best Carmine in Japan) is all it takes for you to get an idea on what you might want to do
Don't be afraid of picking up technical characters
16:35- But don’t you always have to do more than press buttons in a fighting game?
Any byakuya mains?
Ultrakawaiidesu I don’t even own the game but hey if a game has a troll I play them (I main hazama terumi yoshimitsu )
Future Byakuya main here!
Oh yeah. Love me some homicidal anime Spider-Man
As a Wald main, I will admit that he probably has some of the simplest fundamentals in the game, minus the fact that his max damage combos are kinda difficult, and his main mixup is a 360 throw.
Hilda is all I need in this game, her delectables "Ho ho ho" give me a reason to live XD
Can’t wait to buy. I want to main Enkidu and Akatsuki they both seem dope to me.
I like akatsuki, linne and yuzu
Who you should you pick up when starting UNIL... Gordeau because yes
Oh I was interested in this game when I saw Hilda's design but it turns out she has nothing outside of some zoning tools? sad
what the hell is this game?? why the hell am i just finding this game?? where the hell have i been??
Phonon. Nuff said.
I mean she cute. I just can't play her
For some reason you have Enkidu as Intermediate in the video but easy in the description...?
Chesto gang
Funny story i played under night in birth twice first time i played it on ps3 free yes free i downloaded on psn+ and i enjoyed it the 2nd time i owned it on ps4 and it was a prize during aksys live stream and i won during that i was so excited and happy to win the giveaway
"All you need to know is B-tatsu..." - Koefficient on Akatsuki
My mans.
I love Wagner
Linne is top tier now for sure.
Merkava
Picked him up for the memes and stayed for the hover mindgames
just play byakuya
No thanks.
Yes thanks
Yep better yet either buy blazblue and play terumi or p4au and play adachi
byakuya is da bessssstttt!
Hot take, Merk is easier to pick up than Hyde
I’m a Chaos/Hyde/Vatista main.
Oh thank it really helpful. I stuck try to finish the mission mode for 2 weeks and still not understand Yuzu's mechanic T T. I think it gonna take a while to get use to her combo input.
@@sun3599 warui neko-kun put out some really good videos regarding Yuzu's mechanics, you should definitely check them out.
Wagner is the first character I picked up when I started this game. I'll start playing Hilda a lot more because I love zoners.
Hilda requires a lot of skill her execution is no joke you have to be prepared for that
Hilda is one of the weakest characters, and she requires both your execution and spacial awareness to be on point. Good luck.
@@Eman-vp6ju well aware of that. difficulty doesn't matter to me. If i like a character, I'll play the character.
@@TheBigSad8247 and I encourage that! Just wishing you luck lol
Everyone be sleeping on Mika and her absolutely stupid corner 50-50s smh
Oh I know she has them, I know they can be good, and I wish I was good at her, but I'm bad at her for the same reason I'm bad at Taokaka in Blazblue, the way some of her attacks move her across the screen just throw me off if I try to play her.
Edit: Spelling.
I just play the ones I want to dom me...
Enkidu better be on that list
Vatista :flushed:
Chaos and "the dog"
Akatsuki b-tatsu is super hilarious and it is your neutral as the character
*makes a guide for new players on who to pick up
*Still uses FG notation and terminology that not everyone understands*
I just go for Hyde since I mained him in bbtag and I like the chip damage he does with his Sword but hopefully I might return to unist since I still love the game
Every single character breaks my fingers
EDIT: i use Phonon and Ice Jesus
Getting into this game is hard not because of the gameplay or mechanics or character or whatelse but because it shares the curse every ArcSys game suffers from which is not having a solid online community.
You wanna play this game? Work hard on learning it and harder on finding someone to play with.
"Oh, but you can find players in discord." they will say. Yeah that is the best way to get into a game. Just travel around discord servers and find a player that is not at the other side of the world and hope that they will be patient with your newbieness.
Should I get UNIST or BlazBlue crosstag
both
they were free for the last three days cuz of evo, but no longer ;-;
@@michaelanderson3672 I got unist
@@JadeDivision UNIST is harder to play
Yeah i main mr game and watch
anyone kind enough to let me know what unist means??
Imagine if this difficulty scaled over to bbtag
Screw BBTAG it's UNICLR time!!!
I just watched a whole video about a game that I don’t have
Do you have any pets?
Personally I don't like anything in particular, So I go random all the time.
Bruh all the characters except for maybe orie.
everyone plans to main yuzu until they start playing her
Naoto kurogane pretty easy to play
I use Wagner she’s a fucking tank
What tf is 6c
Forward Heavy
Thank you
