Wow, that is a stunning find! ILG fans were often used as fixed installation exhaust fans for warehouses and other industrial applications. I've never seen an ILG box fan so, this one is special.
always had a liking for these. one of the most unique box fans ever made imo. Also, I kinda like the buzz that fan makes. gives it some 60hz character.
Awesome find bro I’ve remember seeing these in the 80s in Ross High School they had them mounted in the doorway in the hallway and it spins in my favorite direction counterclockwise i enjoyed the video hopefully you can either fix the motor or someone can send you the original motor
I have one of these, mine needs some work before I can actually use it again. I also have the Dualaire floor fan version that I use all the time, my dogs love to sleep in front of it.
VERY nice find!!! Those are really not very common fans but they are super cool! Do you know whether the blades are Bakelite or metal? If it's bakelite be REALLY careful with it! That stuff is pretty brittle! Also I wouldn't be surprised if the motor might be completely sealed knowing ILG lol. I think a lot of your motor hum will go away with a good servicing and a good revarnish of both the motor windings and the speed coil (which could be the entire source of the humming to be honest) up by the switch so don't ditch that old motor just yet!!
That's a really nice one Jordan! Sounds like you have some interesting stuff in your local store . Judging by the structure of this fan it probably was built in the mid to late 50s or early 60s , as for the motor .. It's possible it could be a loose winding , I had a similar issue with one of my vintage box fans , I don't have the power reading device that you do .. But I noticed that the fan made that same hum on both speeds but didn't show any signs of motor failure , so that's how I knew it just needed a coat of electric sealer and no problems with the fan ever since . I would like to see a clean and service when your new studio is finished :) I enjoyed video bro.
Man I can't believe you got one of these, this has been my longest top desired fan next to a Fresh'nd Aire twin blade and every time I look on that site there's absolutely nothing of interest lol. Conglaturation! It's likely both the motor and speed coil need revarnishment, also that the motor wasn't fully warmed up or up to full speed on that low. And perhaps the motor is cooled sufficiently by being attached to metal rather than plastic. Yes the blade is plastic, I believe Bakelite. No yellowing/deteriorating to be had!
beware of the blades, one wrong move and the blades will shatter, also the buzzy motor is a common problem on these fans, these used 2 kinds of motors, the regular one you got and the more bigger one in the industrial model, this fan is from the 50s, its supposed to come with a window panel

Glad you got this Vintage Box fan my favorite thing about vintage box fans is it spins Counterclockwise also a long spin down time I enjoyed it bro
Could also be the sped coil that is buzzing. Varnish them both. Great acquisition. These are fascinating.

The thumbnail is what caught my attention.
I’ve got to replace the ball bearings in the one that I have. That motor hum could also be the speed coil up by the switch.
I didn’t spot this one on the goodwill, nice find!

Nothing like an ILG!

I just got a single speed ceiling mounted one but mine has a massive capacitor motor in it.
Thanks for letting me know.
Can you do a phone initial checkout next?
