I really hope that someday Anna and Eluveitie can reconcile and do a collab for old time's sake. I miss them performing together so much. This song send chills down my spine every time.
There's something beautiful about how the band perform with the instruments and vocals that feels so emotional that you can't describe it. The great thing about this band is that it feels like a family and the music shows. What an outstanding thing to hear everytime with Eluveitie.... Anna is so beautiful too and Chirgel's emotions while growing is so intense. HAIL ELUVEITIE!!!
Has to be in my top 3 Eluvietie songs from when I first heard this band ... love Anna's sound in quoth the raven .. thaws guitar riffs are pure art Hail Eluvietie even with one down right now
the recording videos of eluveitie are just fantastic. i find them better than their actual videos. its such a wonderful feeling to see the passion and effort going into the music.
Hear my wings carassing the wind, hear my... CRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! Gives me fucking chills everytime i listen to this song. She is such a godess. I love Eluveitie.
Saw them in Glasgow on sunday 7th November. so good! first time listening to them that night and it was this song that caught my ear :D that and inis mona :D seriously. great folk metal band. its one of the very few i like mainly because they dont sing abnout drinking with (IMO) cheesy lyrics and cheesy melodies. amazing band this. seriously :')
I heard them yesterday at Paganfest in Amsterdam and, just like last year, they were the most awesome band!;D And this is their best song, I love it!!!
"writing the sound of a raven" As I said, 'onomatopoeia', but moving on... Gaelic is not extinct. Info is widely available. Gallic: I can only recommend the wikipedia page "Gaulish language" as a starting point. Old Norse: some schools teach it and Iceland basically still speaks it. You can even google "Old Norse for Beginners" to find an online starter course. "An Introduction to Old Norse" is the standard book for students.
you know what i find incredible? this video of this band has 0 dislikes when i posted this comment they are so amazing no1 can honeslty hate this.....i have to shed a tear for not being able to enjoy this stuff on a daily basis with my fam and friends for I am cursed with being born in the U.S. being a french horn player i hope to move one day and join an orchestra that plays music with bands like this (kinda like how nightwish/kamelot do it)
Anna at 3:18 makes my literally lol. and she has like no accent when she "talks" during the "and death.." part. fucking awesome growl, though Chirgel looks hot. Meri is beautiful! Eluveitie is awesome and Edgar Allan Poe is da man!
@mowgdog read on wikipedia about "crow" perhaps you will understand, especially under the topic "Myth and Spirituality"... ...In Norse mythology, Huginn and Muninn are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring the god Odin information.
Quick etymology lesson. English acquired 'crack' from one of the Celtic languages. It's in various forms like kræk, krak, craic, etc. In this instance it means something akin to a sudden sharp sound. A breaking of the voice. Or if you want the dictionary def. "to cause (the voice) to change tone or become harsh or (of the voice) to change tone, esp to a higher register; break" Now we can go back to drooling over this magnificent creation.
@bIackshade If you listen closely to the song you don't hear any bass except for the bass of the drums, its double guitar. rythm and solo and at all the other deaf people here: A raven does not Cry, it Krak's you don't hear the final "K" because the "KRAAAAAK" is immediately followed by the chorus
@cdahl All drummers do that because the drums itself are loud enough and gets recorded first, then the other instruments if you want to know if its true look at the making off "Love and Other Disasters" from sonic syndicate
@eldsprutandedrake Behind most culteral things involving the raven, the most popular saying that the raven makes is a crow. Im not saying the bird, Im saying the sound. Crow can mean two things. I grew up in Alaska near the natives. They all would agree the Raven makes a crow sound. If you listen closely you WILL hear her make the o sound.
@TheMelbourneshuffle hehe...es ist ja auch schweizer-deutsch. Da heisst es "zweite taag"! Sie sagt: zweite taag, s'studio esch no uufgrumt, do esch mis bett"! -> Zweiter Tag, das Studio ist noch ordentlich, hier ist mein Bett... ;D
