      @@kolewiebensohn Thank you. I've heard glow plugs in a can.
      What is interesting is I had my tonsils out when I was four years old, and they used ether to put me under (I'm old). Every time I used ether to start the tractor, it brought back the memory of ether being used to put me out. The smell of ether is the last thing I remember before I went out.

    I've started many older tractors and starting fluid is usually unnecessary, you can turn the engine over until you see smoke which means you have fuel in the cylinders and then you stop for a few seconds and allow the fuels to warm since it's in the cylinders under pressure which is how diesel fuel is turned to vapor then start the engine again.

    • @kolewiebensohn
      @kolewiebensohn  3 года назад

      That would be the case with normal tractors, but the case 30 series have a different style head where the firing chamber is in the head not in the cylinders

      @Dans Engines Nope she's non turboed, just the name of the game with the old 30 series cases.

      @@kolewiebensohn lol yeah an it sucks lol. It turns all cloudy like, an then when you go to empty it your finger will go through it lol. There's a rubber connector at the bottom of the intake, an we drilled a hole in it an stuffed a 3/8 bolt in there so you can give it some while your cranking. But be careful if you do because you only want a tiny tiny wif, because now the either is much more dense because it's so close to the heads and it doesn't have to go through the oil bath. But yeah not kidding it totally trashes the dust bowl. It literally will turn the plastic into powder over time. Quite depressing lol... That engine is worn out, rings are no good, valves maybe leaking, mine fires up instantly in zero weather sitting outside, little or no ether needed, when compression is low she's a hard starter. Do a ring job, a valve job, she'll run like new again.
