Just now woke up, put out my Lily, poured a glass of two day old tea, listened to your lovely voice read these two incantations. Thank you. I feel touched by the blessings black night with its secrets.

Ahhh... thank you, preciosa! I was unsure about the tone of my reading, but I am so glad you enjoyed this. Uncle Jorge is sooooo incredibly romantic - in every sense of the word - it's something he is rarely credited with.

I had no idea. So I'm doubly thankful.

Blessings is a typo. It was supposed to read blue black, I think.

I actually love the idea of the black night's blessings...

Yes. The goddess of the night sky. It works as paean, too.

Is this in poems of the night?

I don't know. They were supposedly written in 1934 just before he published his first collection of short stories, but they were not included in that book. I read that he refused to authorize their translation into Spanish; though now, of course, such unauthorized Spanish translations abound by amateur poets online.

I will buy that volume, however, and let you know. Sounds wonderful!
