I remember when I was in NYC for the NYU Summer Publishing Institute about 30 years ago and the weather was just spectacular. Clear skies and breezy, no humidity, day after day. The instructors would tell us every day, "This is one of the 15 best days in New York. Enjoy it." It was glorious. Looks like you're having similar weather for your visit, Michele, if a bit cooler. I'm so happy for you, makes me giddy just to imagine it!
Thank you for taking us with you. How I miss New York (born and raised there) It will always be home. You throw a stick in Chinatown and you'll hit food that is a million times better than anything you can get in Toledo.

I just came back from NYC yesterday, and can't believe we were staying so close to you. I was at the Motto by Hilton in Chelsea. I hope you had a fabulous trip. The weather was just perfect last week.

That museum exhibit was so amazing. Great choice of music to go with the visuals. And the food. My mouth was watering. I laughed about your comment on the water. Massachusetts, where I originally hail from, has soft water like New York. I now live in Los Angeles where the water is quite hard. I'm assuming Las Vegas water is probably hard also. Just doesn't feel as good as that soft, lather-it-up water.
As an Asian who lives in Vegas, I agree. Chinese food in Vegas is not as good as the other Asian foods!

Saudades, as the Brazilians say. I try to make it to NY every few years, going in 2024. I lived at 110 Bleecker when I was a PhD candidate and instructor so I am very familiar with your Soho shots. Wasn't SaraBeth's up next to or in the Wales Hotel in Carnegie Hill for years? I prefer to fly in and out of Newark. Usually less than 60 minutes each way, but then, I rent an SUV and drive myself so I can tool around Manhattan and get my fix. My daughter is headed to the city tonight so I told her to pack a sweater --- she forgets that Manhattan isn't SoCal. 😍

Good to know about JFK airport. I am traveling to NYC in September. We fly into Newark, but fly out of JFK going home. My friend seems to think it won’t take long to get to the airport from our hotel in Midtown. I’ve never been to NYC, but even I’m thinking hmmm, I think we better give ourselves plenty of time to get there. Love this video. I took notes!

LaGuardia might be the closest to midtown, New ark to midtown would be 20miles apart. JFK is almost right next to LaGuardia, the difference would be JFK is big and fancy...if you don't think about shopping at the airport, LaGuardia might be good too, it's small, so you don't have to walk around too much 😅

I love Tre Giovanni on LaGuardia. It’s been there forever and I haven’t been in awhile so hopefully it hasn’t changed.
Indian food in Michigan is amazing but when I lived in Arizona it was awful! I understand what you mean because being Indian and eating Indian food daily it is not something I want unless my mom makes it here and there.

The Chinese food in New Jersey is also mediocre. We go to the Asian market and make our own. Nothing beats NYC Chinese food.

Oh boy that Peking Duck looks luscious and amazing. I was born and raised in SF so got Chinese food all the time and got sick of it. But when I moved away, I missed it terribly but as you note, can't find "proper" Chinese food for love nor money. I need to get back to NYC, haven't been since 2018! Thanks for sharing Michele!
