Seeing what I’ve seen of Renee’s performance, I say she is very well-deserving of an Oscar! I’m so blown away with the pieces I’ve seen thus far. Amazing!

A kind statement, but not necessarily true. If I had never heard of Renee Zellweger and happened across this interview with her, I would, without any doubt, known where she was from. And possibly even guessed what city or region. She's from Texas and a Texan though and though. Which is to say, elegant, charming, highly intelligent, powerful, and powerfully independent. There's still a few million women graced with those beautiful characteristics there. Perhaps minus Renee's ridiculously high level of talent as an actress and performer, but still sharing the same prestigious personal core. Renee, I fear, along with the rest of them, are the last generation of these titans. I guess we can blame the internet and social media, I dunno. But I know it's a tragedy....

@@DanielePimentel Yes Daniele, there are indeed. Guess I was more eluding to how media, especially online media, eventually transcends specific regional borders, cultural traits, and mannerisms. The first and easiest to identify of this reality is the loss of regional vocal accents. Example: Renee Zellweger still has that awesome and beautiful female Texas accent. This, especially when fueled with some degree of education and intelligence, Renee lacks neither, nor do many Texas ( for example ) women of her era and before, is more captivating and delightfully musical to the ear than simply being an " accent ". Accents are provably vanishing and being replaced with a not so attention grabbing, maybe even ' yawn inducing ' , monotone personality less speech characteristic. Unfortunately, the other traits that once identified people and where they come from aren't lagging far behind the disappearing accents. This has all been studied ( how successfully studied might be in question ) and very little positivity seems to be emerging from all this effect. When it's gone, and it will be, I for one will miss it

I nearly didn't bother replying to that thinking to myself that you in that response actually made my " point " along with you perhaps being better served had I posted a ' meme ' rather than a detailed two reply accounting of my point. You know WHO if still presently alive would have unequivocally got my point? Judy Garland. And another who is currently alive and living my point? Renée Zellweger. That's who, and who in a bold letter to The Huffington Post herself outlined these key elements . These " one of a kind women " are " one of a kind " due the integrity they possess of holding fast to their individual traits making them ' who they are '. Ie: what makes them so one-of-a-kind and special. These things you've praised are over in the world of entertainment! In Hollywood they are no longer even allowed. How can you possibly view the current wave of young entertainers, actors and actresses, whilst having knowledge of what defines Zellweger as a " One of a kind woman " and not clearly see the distinctions that separate them? Your ( our ) " One of a kind woman " days are, or nearly so, over and done with. The reasons for this are obvious, yet, as PC and polite as I was able, eluded to the reasons why this is the current reality. There will be no future Renée Zellweger's. And indeed never a powerhouse such as a Judy Garland.
God, she's good. She's endlessly bombarded by the same questions over and over again by interviewers and she answers thoughtfully and respectfully. I'm sure that can't be easy
At first i thought renne? But she can sing. She is humble. But i kept seeing all interviews, movie releases i thought she could do it. . She became not the celebrity, but.. judy. She became judy. Oscar worthy. Rene was amazing in becoming an icon in one period of her life. Judy was queen, rene was her princess. Thank you rene!!!!!!

It's odd... when I heard that Renee Zellweger was doing a Judy Garland bio-pic I thought it was crazy that she was picked. Seeing clips, it actually works really well. She isn't doing an impression of her, truth is she doesn't sound much like her, but she seems to get the nature of who Judy was in her later years.
Fiama98 truly ' who can very sound like Judy. But I agree with you, she didn’t absorb into her voice.

These interviews are so bad. So many questions that could've been asked. So trivial and so half baked. Renee was fantastic. Garland is still the most incredible artist in show business ever, her voice is unparalleled. Beyonce? Really? Plzzzzzzz I hope Reneee wins a Oscar for this, she was great.
................saw the film and Renee Zellweger doesn't look, sound, or sing like Judy Garland. The only oscar she deserves is if they have a category for "Best Performance by an Actress in a MISCAST Role." While watching this film, there is not one second when you are not aware that you are watching Renee Zellweger She did try very hard to channel Judy Garland; however, it missed its mark She deserves an "A" for effort.. Renee Zellweger should do a "bio pic" about Melissa Gilbert's life. Renee looks and sounds a whole lot more like HER!

I remember Judy Garland, so well! She was amazingly talented, but also very complicated. It seemed impossible that anyone could portray her adequately. But Renee has definitely captured the essence of Judy!

If anyone is deserving of a tribute film it's Judy Garland called the greatest entertainer by the greatest entertainers. watching this I can see that Renee has her moments. And what made Garland this amazing Entertainer is that she gave every performance everything she had even when she failed she was giving her all when she was performing it was like putting the plug in the socket live electricity. Lightning in a bottle Renee just does not have that

for most performers tripple threat means actor, singer, dancer (Judy could do all three with such ease) and for Judy she was also a quadrupple threat, stagr, screen, radio, and tv. TV did taake her a little longer to get comfortable with the medium, but she was able to move back and forth between all four mediums with such magic, which made/makes her the greatest entertainer of any century.

I have finally seen this movie on the last year of the wonderful Judy Garland's life. Renee did a wonderful job on portraying Judy. And I wonderful if Judy's children have seen this film althou they said that they would NOT go see it. Lorna Luft has said on a utube posting that if you want to know more about her mothers work, watch some of her movies and TV shows.
And I thought that the ending of the movie was not correct because it looked like that Judy and her 5th husband had a fight and broken up and Judy was again alone. This was not true. Judy and her husband Mickey Deans were still together when Judy died in their bathroom. He found her in the bathroom in the middle of the night. Did anybody else notice this oversight in watching the film ?
