How about an ice rink, peewee hockey, figure skating lessons, hockey leagues, open skating, and restaurant with a bar. There's nothing in the area like it.

Id love to put a hobby shop/rc track in there. Been wanting to ever since it started dying off. Felt like it wasnt worth even asling about a lease because of the way most property owners in the area are. However, after seeing this, i feel like youre actually looking to breathe new life into the mall, not just collect as much rent as humanly possible.

Something for kids of all ages. We could use more indoor entertainment for the long winters. Bonus points if that space offers birthday party space. I have a kid with a December birthday and party spaces are way more limited than what my July child has for birthdays.

I think pickle ball is a huge mistake. While i think you can use the upper deck for a pickle ball court i suggest maybe basketball court , flag football. Pickleball is not a huge thing in mansfield. Basketball court would bring tons of people in. Also a higher end indoor golf course simulator these are things that people in the area would be interested in

@@Jsigman3401 thank you. We need an operator who can run a successful basketball business. Can you recommend one please? We didn’t choose the pickle ball use we simply responded to a leasing inquiry. Community decides what goes into the mall by opening businesses there. We definitely want to bring in more sports and entertainment tenants. They are fun and generate traffic.

@RafikMOORE Agreed! I’m thinking if you turn mall into a place for families to be entertained something we have never had in the area but are in dire need of with the growth of the city. A nice restaurant where couple or families go and then enjoy a fun filled night with each other. I think this would bring people from all over other counties also increase revenue to surrounding businesses. The opportunity is there!

Recognizing the key for this project to succeed is community input and creativity is a great start. Bringing in a mix of fresh businesses and activity that stand out from the norm will likely drive it's success.
You will likely be met with negativity, just like anywhere else, but you can push through that and still get community support. The most common complaint in the area is "there’s nothing to do." While this isn't entirely true, people are begging for diversity and fresh ideas. All it takes now is a fast-food restaurant to open, and it becomes a hotspot for activity.
What we really need are options that offer lasting fun, are entertainment-driven, and community-focused, providing multiple things to do in a welcoming area where people feel safe, want to stick around, and come back often, similar to what you see in bigger cities.
For a community center, diverse food options should be a great start and core focus because of the attention it already gets, especially those that are unique and not currently available. A designated food truck lot with outdoor benches in a small park like setting would be a way to attract visitors, providing variety and encouraging people to return. Pairing this with regular themed events, like cultural or holiday festivals, live performances, or even a tasteful farmers' market pop-up could create an even greater incentive for people to visit. Just be careful not to detract from other local community events.
Entertainment options could be a big draw as well. The idea of a comedy club or small performance venue could add a fun nightlife option. A community skating rink, whether roller skating year-round or ice skating seasonally, would offer a reminiscent element for families and groups. Adding interactive spaces where people can team build-like Activate in Columbus as an example, partake in health or arts-oriented classes (yoga, martial arts, sports, fitness), engage in esports, or participate in other activities that add a sense of involvement and community could be a nice addition.
Creating a destination where families or individuals can enjoy a day of activities (or even live, as you've mentioned), with diverse options for eating, meaninful shopping, community events, and varied entertainment is a commendable undertaking. Its exciting to think this project can become a hub that brings people together and keeps them coming back.

I know many many many Mansfield / Lexington residents that go to Columbus for food and or stores that we dont have that’s local.
If you manage to get big mainstream names into the mall, that would be huge. Especially when you have stuck up Lexington residents, ones that have the money to spend, I would definitely take advantage of that.

Please bring back a skating rink. The closest one is 1+ hours away from this area. Include a rental area for parties. Our rink burned down years ago and it was a big devastation to so many families. Also maybe a sensory area for kids. The youth need to me the center of these decisions. Bring life back to our area and hopefully keep many kids off the streets. The mall was the hangout for my teenage years. We need that again.
