    Thanks for the video.
I wish you had discussed the implications of setting a disk to dynamic.
For example, my concern with any RAID setup is what happens if the system fails. Can you access your RAID 1 disk on a different PC?
For RAID 1 on two disks, one might assume you can just move your HDD to a different PC and access your data, but from what I understand, it is not straight-forward.
This is great to offer this simple video showing the details of how to setup RAID 1 with 2 HDDs on a windows machine, but it would help to add this detail of how to proceed if one of the disks fails or if the system fails, how does one get their data.

Thank you for the upload. Very simple to follow along with you. This will work perfect just in case my main drive crashes

This video explained the full process. This is a great video. The only thing that maybe you can show the full process quickly and then go into a more explanatory video. I found myself skipping through the video to make sure the process is what I am looking for then I watch over the video from the top. I could of easily stop viewing because the process took a while to get to the point. I found persons stop videos within the first 30sec if there is no indication of getting to the point. They either move on to another video or skip forward. This is an excellent video but one could easily skip past it. Its a long attention span issue most person suffers with and you want to grab their attention first in the first 30sec of the video. anyway my friend. Great video.

Hello, I followed your steps, using 2 x 16TB hardrives that were empty. But they're both just staying on re-sychronizing and there's no percentage count started. What should I do? The drive is working, I did notice the driver that is supposed to mirroring the other is no long in my computer. Is does show in disc management though. Is this normal for the syncing drive no long to be a drive that is in your My Computer?

That's good mate but I have doubt
Can I do it on a two external drives

Hi! Is there a way to mirror an internal drive with an external one, in a way that makes the two of them only sync when the external drive gets connected to the PC?
I was wondering this could be a solution to the risks related to having two exact mirrors (for example, the risk of deleting a file by mistake and losing it on both drives instanteniously), as well as to the reduction of the writing speed to that of the slower one.

hm... what happens if you will reinstall windows? will the mirror be retained? will it be wiped? do you have to redo the process? can you transfer the mirrored disks to another pC?

Thanks for the video. If you can help me with one question I would really appreciated it. After finishing the initial sync (30h for 2 8tb empty drivers), every change will trigger another full 30h sync or it will be only the sync for the files that I add to the first drive?
If that would trigger another 30h of sync, that would not be practical at all.

Mirroring two drives always causes an initial long sync. However, as long as the drives are active in the system syncing will occur continuously as the primary changes. So you should not see any more long syncs. It should all be in the background.

    Question:
Can I by this way, to make a backup of my C: /operational/ drive? With all additional software?

  • @IWario1
    @IWario1 3 года назад

is this mirroring your C Drive? My intentions is to create the ultimate back up? , copy everything is done on C Drive into mirror dive , so if my C drive ever crashes, toss it out and insert the mirror drive into my C drive
Am I understanding mirror drives correctly?

When i click add mirror and then ok on the dynamic disk warning, it doesn't start doing it. instead i get the error message 'the disk could not be converted to dynamic because security is enabled'. i have no idea what this means or find any solutions to it. I'm on Windows 10 Pro. Neither hard drive has OS on it. Both same size. One is unallocated as per the demo. I don't know what the solution is.

Can I mirror a hard drive (RAID 1) which contains the windows Operating System? Is that possible?
I have a hard drive that contains Windows Server 2012 and some configurations and I really want to mirror it using RAID-1?

I am no slouch with computers. I am about to setup a raid 1 configuration using windows.
    My question if you know...
If one drive fails, does windows notify the user if drive failure has occurred?
I have searched the internet for the question. But answers usually date back to windows 7.
A simple test would be to unplug one of two drives. However i don't have the drives just yet.
I was hoping to find someone with any insight into this scenario.

Windows notifies you in the event viewer. You can set up a notification using the event viewer if you want to.

It might not be possible to do on regular Windows 10. I think you need Pro or Education to mirror in Disk Management. You can however use Storage Spaces to mirror so try search for a tutorial on that.

Well dude, you're never gonna believe this, but- we need to be able to do this with two (2) external drives. Oops.

Ugggh, hopeless. You speak in a language of people who will already know how to do this. Some of us do not! Try again with PICTURES of the physical connections. And speak slower. That is all.

    complicated ideas .
Your video title is " HOW TO MIRROR A HARD DRIVE IN WINDOWS "
Just demonstrate a mirroring a one drive to another .
Why complicate it by saying that you are combining two drives or worse you start talking about things are advanced for this video level
    I got turned off
