I don't think I have seen anyone ever make a gunnery video using multiple games and I was thinking to myself that this was a universal skill that translates to all so why not do it. LMK what you thought.

Seems like a cool idea, I think videos like this are certainly nice to have but in the end good aim comes with practice over time more than anything.

Deflection = guess work. I like to call it predictive shooting. As you say, often times you have put your target out of your sights and try to predict where the bandit is going and putting lead/bullets in his path to fly into.

Or you just put on a VR helmet and your gunnery is instantly better as you can actually do distance estimations and lean over your front better :)
PS: ANd on the "tips" territory, your last MIG23 example with wing sweep on auto .... man, you would turn faster if you would put wings on that bird manually to minimum angle. In Mig23 the moment you are merged in majority of cases you should instinctivelly extend wings for better turn. Yes, you loose a lot of speed with them, but against F4 with better engine you are a single turn fighter anyway.

Speaking of WT. You really should manually sweep wings fully forward in a mig23 there. It looses a lot of speed with swept wings, and doesn't loose energy at all with its wings forward.
Auto sweep goes for the speed rather than maneuverability, so you better switch to manual wing sweep-pull your wings forward-go to auto sweep again. That way you'll basically basically have to press an auto/manual switch button to enter a "dogfight mode", and press it again to leave it. As long as you are slower than 900 kph of course

Great video. I am just reading the Robert L. Shaw book and you got me in the last part. I should really just fly more.

Good points, one of the harder initial learning curves and skill that degrades over time if you dont play. For me, short shots and adjusting,. If i havent played for a while, then i fire from too far away, force shots take bad angles etc. Get close like your name is hartmann

Good video sir. I'm one of those who neglects the rudder in combat. I have a lot of trouble being smooth with it, as the plane tends to waggle back and forth when i use it.

Try putting a curve on it to dampen it a bit

Something I still struggle with is smoothly pulling the nose to or through a target, I don’t know if it’s an issue with my curves or if I need to practice more
