Being an American, I hate how America lacks this tradition and culture. They all begin in rhythmic gymnastics, that is how they get those lines and flexibility. All of Russia’s dancers from very young achieve what would take a lifetime in America! And then Russian dancers barely come to join American companies, even though they could walk right in! But then again, how SAB produced Gelsey Kirkland is beyond lucky.
@bbanne9142 Vaganova students do not start in gymnastics! Aged 10/11, they are selected for the school if they have perfect proportions, perfect turn out, perfect insteps, perfect demi plie: all physical attributes given by mother Nature. Then they train in classical ballet for years. I do not understand why on earth you would say that. You know nothing of Vaganova and Russian ballet if you believe that. So, from Anna Pavlova (e.g.) onwards Mariinski (Kirov) ballerinas were gymnasts before switching to ballet, were they? Sheesh what a crock of bs.😢
P.s. Check out The Children of Theatre Street'. Hosted by the late Grace Kelly, a vd of students at Vaganova, from small children auditioning to graduation performance. Made in the late 70s, but well worth looking it up.
@@Homerun153 yes and once a dancer decides to prepare for academy for audition at age 10, they decide that as early as possible 6 or 7, and they are not returning to rhythmic gymnastics, at least not competitively. Some girls decide late, Yana Chirk(something) gave herself a year to prepare and made it into Bolshoi. Prior to thay year she never did ballet, she transitioned into ballet prep from RED ballet which is contemporary, and so that preparation was challenging but she was much blessed with legs, feet and flexibility. In her short prep she also trained in rhythmic gymnastics but I’m not sure if I ever found any earlier rhythmic training in her childhood. So some cases are quite unique but like I said rhythmic gymnastics walks hand in hand within the ballet culture and tradition of Russia. No you don’t see rhythmic gymnastics as the dancers advance within the academy except 1 hr a day at the academy, there are some dancers who share their school schedules on instagram, they show you a day in their life and it’s really nice for curious people like me.
Got to love it, but at the same time grieve, because some bodies just don’t flex enough (skeletal limitations). Still, find another job to pay for your passion, and keep dancing!

И лишь единицы, с то вот же никто не станет ПРИМОЙ, тем более великих сцен. Лишь одна из тысячи обретет славу, богатство, расписание на соло на 5 лет вперед… А то и вообще никто. В основном примами становятся те, в кого связи, а не талант . Или приглянулась директору . Сейчас вообще почти нет уникальных талантливых балерин, их просто не замечают! А на первом плане так, фишня всякая танцует. Бездарности.
