  • The National Trust’s longest running conservation project has taken an important step forward as the twelfth tapestry out of a set of thirteen has been returned to Hardwick Hall.
The ‘Gideon Attacking the Midianites’ tells part of the story of Gideon from the biblical book of Judges. It measures 5.7 by 8.5 metres and has been in the care of specialist textile conservators for a number of years.
The work on this tapestry alone has cost £278,000 which has been provided by a private donor.
